About this cabin rental
Perched atop a mountain ridge at 1,900' of elevation, Sunset Mountain Lodge faces directly West to perfectly frame the sun as it sets over multiple layers of mountains each night. Whether viewing the sunset from the two-story picture windows in the living room, or on any of the three levels of deck or hot tub, you are sure to be in awe by the view!
Highlights include three king-sized beds in equal-sized bedrooms featuring their own adjacent bathrooms, one queen sofa-bed, a dining table that seats eight, hot tub, pool table, foosball, a karaoke machine with Auto-Tune and two microphones, big screen TVs with Roku streaming players and satellite in all bedrooms and common rooms, Nintendo Wii, Jenga, Corn Hole, board games, puzzles, darts, bar, outdoor grill, three levels of decks and an outdoor fire pit. Many of the furnishings in the lodge were made-to-order by Amish woodworkers in Pennsylvania out of aspen, white cedar, and hickory.
Sunset Mountain Lodge is conveniently located about 15-20 minutes from Blue Ridge, McCaysville, and Murphy, but also provides great privacy, peace, and quiet. The entire home, all levels, 2,200 total square feet of living space, on 3.25 acres of private land is all yours.
Boating and fishing are available at Lake Nottely (10 minute drive) and Lake Blue Ridge (20 minute drive), and there are many rivers and creeks with good fishing in the area as well. Other outdoor activities within a 15-30 minute drive away include kayaking, tubing, hiking, zip-lining, and paddle boarding. Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino is a 25 minute drive away, and there are multiple vineyards nearby that offer tours, tastings, and sales. Plenty of all types of shopping and restaurants in the three nearby towns and the Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad is always a hit with adults and kids alike.
Walk out of the French doors from the third story bedroom and onto the private third-level deck to relax in the hanging chair and have a glass of wine while you admire the sunset. Guests in the main-floor bedroom can do the same and walk out of French doors to the main level deck and hanging chair! Gather around the wood-burning fireplace in the living room while you take in the mountain views through the two story windows. Venture downstairs to the game room and fix yourself a drink at the bar before playing a game of pool, foosball, darts, over a dozen board games (some for kids, some for family, and some for adults), puzzles, or Nintendo Wii while the game plays on the big-screen TV. Connect your phone or tablet to the Karaoke machine equipped with AutoTune and two microphones and sing your favorite songs. Head to the deck to play a game of corn-hole, Jenga, grill a dinner, or have a soak in the hot tub while you enjoy the mountain view with your friends and family. After the the sunset has completed its show, venture down the steps to the fire pit and cook s'mores around the fire.
The cabin sits several miles away from any main roads so you won't hear the sounds of traffic, and because the cabin sits at 1,900 feet atop a mountain ridge line of Poindexter Knob, you will hear the peaceful sound of the wind blowing over the trees and have a chance of experiencing snow in the winter.
The full kitchen is thoughtfully stocked with all the implements a foodie needs to prepare their masterpiece for friends and family, including items like a good sharp knife set, food processor, blender, muffin pans, cake pans, garlic press, whisk, measuring cups, mixing bowls, etc, and a large propane grill sits out on the deck for outdoor meal prep. The main level deck features a round glass dining table with four chairs, and the indoor dining area features a rectangular table with seating for eight.
Each of the three bedrooms are "master" bedrooms of the same size (13x13), all feature king size beds, and all have a TV and an adjacent full bathroom. The top two bedrooms feature full closets and French doors leading out to the decks. The bottom bedroom features an armoire with drawers, shelves and rod to hang clothes, and four windows. With three king size beds plus a sofabed with queen size memory-foam mattress in the game-room, you'll have space for up to eight guests.
Cellular service is generally 2-3 bars on most carriers with great voice quality and there is 300mbps internet (with Wifi that provides 60mbps) for those needing to get online for business or pleasure. Satellite TV in all bedrooms, living room, and game room, and each TV has a Roku streaming player that will allow you to log into any of your streaming accounts (such as Netflix, Disney, HBO, Amazon, Hulu, Youtube, etc) and stream your favorite content, and then automatically sign out of your accounts on your day of checkout.
The cabin is equipped with a clothes washer and dryer, and dishwasher, and we follow the latest COVID CDC cleaning protocols for hotels/motels.
You will be on paved roads until the last 1/2 mile when you turn onto gravel. The short half-mile gravel road is maintained annually. The last 1/8 mile of the road up to the lodge is a bit steep, but as long as there is no snow or ice on the road, ANY car, no matter how small or old, can easily drive it - you definitely don't need an SUV or four-wheel drive. If there is snow or ice on the road, you will want to take appropriate measures as you would driving in those conditions on any road.
Sunset Mountain Lodge has a standard Ring video door bell located next to the front entry door that provides video-only (audio disabled) security monitoring of the parking area, and the porch area directly in front of the front door.
The lodge is strictly non-smoking, non-vaping, and pets are not allowed. Thank you for helping me keep the lodge safe, clean, in excellent condition, and enjoyable for everyone!
Guests are provided with one bundle of firewood for their stay. Additional bundles of firewood can be purchased at the Chevron 5 minutes down the road, or at the main intersection in Mineral Bluff about 10 minutes away.
Sunset mountain lodge is my personal getaway and is the only property I rent so it gets all my focus and attention. I have worked hard to make it as clean, comfortable, inviting, entertaining and enjoyable as possible for people of all ages and I take great pride in providing a setting where people can make many lasting memories! The decor and furnishings of the cabin have been very carefully selected to set a cabin-appropriate ambiance - even the lighting ensures a warm "cabiny" glow and feel.

This place is well-appointed with quality and style. You have everything you need, and exactly where you would think it should be. The 3 separate bedrooms with baths give privacy and the living room, game room and outdoor areas provide quality plenty of places to make memories. The egg chairs are great for morning coffee with the cupholders. All of the board games even had all of the pieces. Jeff was great to work with and his directions made everything clear. the provided information was all well-presented and easy to use whether it was for using the TV or where to go on a day trip! We will be back!

Cabin was perfect! Gorgeous views of the mountains and the sunset from the the three balconies. Stocked with everything you need - towels, extra pillows and blankets, plenty of dishes and utensils, and even dish soap, laundry detergent, etc to make your stay comfortable. The three bedrooms gave everyone their own space to wind down after long days of hiking and the game room on the bottom floor provided a great place for the family to come together and play pool, video games, darts, and more! It felt like a home away from home! Would definitely stay again.

My husband and I were in the area to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We spent most of our time hiking and coming back each day to this lovely cabin was one of the best parts of our trip. Jeff has a fantastic cabin with just about everything needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. It was clean and quiet. Although it is in a neighborhood development and there is some neighborhood noise during the day, it is private and quiet, especially at night. Jeff is a gracious and communicative host and quickly responded to our questions.
We’ve stayed in many rental homes over the years and most have had less than comfortable beds. The upper floor bed is comfortable but soft, the main floor bed has a firmer mattress that was almost as good as ours at home.
The drive to Blue Ridge for groceries isn’t bad, but plan ahead unless you’re planning to drive through Blue Ridge often. It’s close but inconvenient to go every day.
The hot tub was one of the cleanest I’ve ever used and there’s plenty of non-screen entertainment options to keep everyone happy. The view off the deck is lovely. Jeff’s place is a gem. We’ll stay again if we’re ever in the area.

We had a wonderful stay at Sunset Mountain Lodge. There were four of us friends, and upon leaving we all agreed that this was a good find, and would definitely be up for another visit!,
The furniture, and beds were comfortable..the Hot Tub was clean & hot ( which isn’t always the case :( ) the view was amazing..it was quite & peaceful. We had everything we needed which was nice as we had some rainy weather.
Jeff was very responsive and helpful with inquiries about the local area. We did visit & would recommend..The Blue Ridge Scenic Railway; Anna Ruby Falls; Helen, Ga; Gibbs Gardens.
Thank you Jeff, for sharing your beautiful Cabin!!

We were really excited about our stay. The pictures made the place look so beautiful. When we arrived the cabin was a little too warm for our liking, I’d recommend with having all of the windows and the sun shining in to have the ac set a little lower, we arrived later in the evening so it took a while for the house to cool down before going to sleep. There is so many things to do at the cabin so when we decided to hang out for the day at the cabin we were never bored. The views were beautiful from the top room. I was set to believe we would be a little more private than we were, so when we were exploring the woods we did happen to walk onto a neighbors property that was a lot closer than we were lead to believe by the description. But it was still nice and a lot to explore. There was not a lot to do in the nearby town of blue ridge, so we did travel to Chattanooga and McCaysville. We absolutely loved that every bedroom had it’s own bathroom. With a larger group having to share a bathroom is a struggle sometimes. Would love to come back during the fall and see the different colors of the trees from the view from the cabin. Overall was a nice experience and not expensive at all!

We had an incredible time during our girls' weekend getaway. The house was spotless and the location couldn't have been better. It was incredibly peaceful and relaxing, and we had a blast hanging out and playing in the game room. The beds were super comfortable and the views were absolutely stunning. We had everything we needed and wanted right there. I can't wait to come back and I'm so grateful for the host's hospitality!

OUR FAVORITE CABIN!!!
We have stayed at a lot of places and this is by far is our favorite cabin. The pictures are very accurate and that sunset is breathtaking. One of the things I appreciated the most was how clean the place was. This is one of my biggest critiques and this cabin met our expectations. We also love to cook a lot and the kitchen was well equipped and even included things like a griddle and a waffle maker which our kids loved. Although we went out most days we did enjoy the hot tub (also one of the cleanest I have ever seen), fireplace, game room, comfy beds, soft towels, and the swings on the decks. I only wish we could have stayed one more day to enjoy more of the cabin. But I guess we will have to return to do that. ☺️

We could not have asked for a better experience. The cabin was beautiful, clean, and had amazing sunset views. Loved the swinging chairs and hot tub. The cabin had everything that we needed to enjoy the stay. Will definitely return!

My girlfriend and I came up for a week looking for a quiet, and peaceful vacation. What we got was even better than expected!
The cabin truly is in the woods, on a dirt rd, on the side of the mountain. Nothing but the sounds of nature.
Checking in was super easy. Make sure to read everything the owner sends for check-in. We both lost GPS service just like the pre checklist said, but were able to follow the step by step directions provided by the owner. So no issues at all!
The kitchen was nicely stocked with plenty of dishes, pots, pans, silverware, etc. There were also some spices and other cooking basics in the cabinet. The grill outside was also a nice addition.
The hot tub is easy to use, has a nice view, and is fun to relax in while the sun sets.
The bathrooms came with nice towels and little hotel style shampoo, conditioner, and soap. We went through the shampoo pretty quickly and used our own the rest of the trip.
We used the firepit the last night of our stay and roasted hotdogs. The cabin was stocked with more than enough firewood for what we needed. Keep in mind the wood is located near the front door and the firepit is located around back down a bunch of stairs so you'll get some exercise if you use all the provided wood. Haha
The cabin is about 15 mins or so from Downtown Blue Ridge and the River Valley Casino. Something to keep in mind is Blue Ridge stores and restaurants tend to have early closing times or are only open on certain days!

This cabin is beautiful! It is just as described and better. The decor is beautiful, well stocked for cooking, comfy beds, fun games to play, and nice touches like stringed lights that come on every evening automatically! The view from the living room is stunning. It was clean and just perfect for my 3 friends and me! Close to downtown Blue Ridge which has great shopping and restaurants…quaint small town! Will definitely go back!

Location was great for us going to down town blue ridge. One day we just stayed at the cabin and enjoyed the pool table, darts and karaoke. Beautiful cabin and everything needed was in the cabin.

I have stayed in a few cabins. And this cabin by far was the best. It had everything we needed. There was 7 of us. It was like out of a magazine We all have plenty of room. Everything worked in the cabin. Everything was extremely clean and everything that we needed was there in right to go. Could not ask for a better place to stay. I will definitely be coming back to this cabin. There was nice touchs all through the cabin decorated for Christmas. Very unique and nice.

I did a lot of research before booking this cabin. It was exactly what we wanted for our family. The hot tub, the pool table, the views, the games, the location. It was perfect for us with our five children. Jeff decorated for Christmas and the cabin is beautiful. It rained the whole time we were there, so we were not able to do any hikes, but it was not a big deal because we had so much fun in the cabin. We would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend!

Everything about our stay was absolutely perfect! Jeff was so helpful and easy to deal with. Check-in was simple and easy. Beds and furniture were very comfortable and the cabin was meticulously clean (and I’m very picky!). You could literally bring your clothes, food and toothbrush and be all set. The cabin has everything you could possibly need…and so much more. Our favorite part was making coffee in the Keurig and sitting on the porch in the morning on the swing —such a gorgeous view! Even the swinging chairs were perfect with cup holders and a place to slip a magazine or iPad. So much thought has gone into the cabin! We made a trip to Helen and Asheville (I recommend both just for the views alone!). Ingles grocery is about 15 min away and has everything you could need - including Starbucks (which made our daughter happy!). The last 1/4 mile to the cabin had me a little nervous at first, but we had no issues with our Camry. Thank you for sharing your cabin! We will definitely be back!

The property is gorgeous! We loved the view of the fall colors from the living room window and decks.
Highly recommend this property for a relaxing stay.

This was a fantastic cabin. Very well maintained and stocked with appliances, kitchen utensils, linens, etc. Everything was several grades above "rental grade" and you could tell the cabin was well cared for. Communication with the owner was excellent. Jeff was very helpful with specific directions to the cabin and responded to questions quickly. The info binder that is in the cabin was very detailed and contained all the info you need on how to operate anything in the cabin. Cabin is secluded but yet not too far away from stores and activities. There is also plenty to do without even leaving the cabin so would be a good location for families. Havine 3 bedrooms with king sized beds and their own bathrooms makes it a great setup for multiple couples also. Can’t say enough about how nice this home is. We would definitely consider a return visit.

Wonderful cabin in a wonderful location. Everything you need is at the cabin. There is not a better place to stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It is equipped with all the necessities for a comfortable visit. The views are absolutely breathtaking, and the cabin itself was impeccably clean. The interior decorations added a charming touch to the house, and it's evident that careful consideration went into every detail. Our communication with Jeff was seamless, and his responses were prompt. Without a doubt, we intend to return the next time we visit the mountains. It's a truly beautiful location in every aspect!

From the booking to the end of our vacation, Jeff was very communicative with quick responses. The cabin was immaculate and every detail thought of. The view was absolutely beautiful, even though it was either cloudy or raining most of our stay. It is far from most places, but that’s the mountains for you. My family - myself, my husband, and 3 teens really enjoyed our stay. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

We love the Blue Ridge Mountain area and have stayed multiple times, but this cabin was hands down our favorite! The cabin had everything we needed and more. The view was phenomenal, the furniture was comfortable, and everything had clear instructions so there was no confusion. We loved our stay so much we will definitely return!

The cabin is truly beautiful inside and out. The views are amazing with gorgeous sunsets. None of us wanted our time there to end. Jeff is an amazing host who gives a lot of information about the cabin and things to do in the area. He is also quick to respond to emails and questions. His cabin really felt like a home away from home with all of the comforts and activities.

The cabin is beautiful, as are the views. Everything is exactly as pictured on VRBO. The cabin was well stocked. Jeffrey was very responsive and accommodating through the entire process. The location is very private, but less than an hour to surrounding towns and attractions. We would definitely reserve this cabin again.

The entire property is absolutely beautiful! The pictures don’t do the views justice, especially when the sun is setting. The house has everything you could possibly need whether it be cooking, games, things to do. It stormed the weekend my friends and I stayed, and despite being stuck mostly inside we never found ourselves bored because there is so much to enjoy on site. Communication with the host was extremely reliable and easy. I have a higher standard when it comes to “luxury,” and this property definitely delivered on that. Would absolutely stay here again.

We greatly enjoyed our stay! It was a perfect size for us and another couple. We enjoyed the hot tub and games, then each had our own suite to retreat to for rest. The kitchen was wonderful, anything you need for cooking is there. The cabin itself and the outdoor space was very clean, including the hot tub. Location was quiet and peaceful. Jeff was wonderful with communication and instructions and provided a ton of helpful resources for the area. The view was lovely.
