The Bunk House was cozy and nice, perfect for two.
Nice deck on the back, to sit and relax, while enjoying the nature around you.
Great experience!

We enjoyed our adventure in the Missouri Ozarks so much! So many waterways to see and saw the Wild Horses twice and I got to check that off my bucket list! The property was clean and comfortable and the hosts showed their hospitality, they are very friendly and accommodating! We hope to come back with our horses sometime in Fall. Thank you for sharing your beautiful place with us!

Great place to stay! So quiet and relaxing

Property was the cleanest the interior design and decor were the best I have ever stayed at in the Eminence area. Scott and Lisa were great hosts and the additional amenity's of the new Whisky River Bar along with food from Shortys Rolling Grill not to mention horseback riding and horse stalls for your own really make this a one stop destination. We will back.

This was a mom and son trip. My friend and I took our two teenage boys…. To say that it was such an enjoyable experience would be a complete understatement…. This is a slice of heaven on earth!

Beautiful piece of property to get away from everything! The bunkhouse was nice and cozy. Lisa was amazing. Showed great hospitality and put us right on a herd of wild horses. Also made some great suggestions for things to see. We had a great 2 night stay

Our overall immediate impression was how clean and well organized everything was in such a tiny spot. We stayed at the Bunk House. It had a large back deck. When sitting there we could see the horses and spent much time just watching them graze. So quiet and serene! It is definitely for people who want to escape to the country life! You are not totally out in the woods, though, because Eminence is not too far away.
We will definitely be back! We will probably try one of the other cabins as we had just a little bit of trouble because, as seniors, we had a little trouble getting in and out of the bunk bed.
All in all, it is a wonderful place and we have nothing but appreciation for Lisa and Scott and their hospitality! Thank you so much, we’ll be back!

The location was isolated from crowds with peaceful evenings. The cabin was perfect for my stay with a full kitchen, television, temperature controlled environment, washer and dryer, and full bath.

Loved, listening to the rain on tin roof at night. Enjoyed a peaceful evening around the fire pit. Great place to stay.

I look for peaceful beautiful places to stay in the Ozarks and that is exactly what this was. Wonderful hospitality and everything you’d need for a little trip away from it all.

My brother, my son and I stayed in the cabin for two nights. The cabin was exactly what we were looking for. We normally tent camp when we come to the area but it was going to be 17 degrees at night. The cabin was very clean (the sheets and towels smelled fresh). The kitchen had everything we needed and the property owner even provided us a few snacks. We had a campfire at night and there was firewood provided as well. I would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone for a little getaway.

The cabin and environment were exactly as described. Clean and very comfortable. The owners live a few hundred yards away and stopped by to make sure all was OK. We had a very relaxing few days hiking around the Eminence area.

The Bunk House was our home base for exploring the Ozark National Scenic Riverways. We loved the setting, and spend quite a bit of time relaxing on the deck. We started our week with an Ozark Riverways Foundation guided float, which provided an excellent orientation to the park and the rivers--look them up. Over the course of our stay, we visited all the sites on the park map, and the cabin's central location made it easy to do. My favorite spot was Blue Spring on the Jacks Fork River, but the entire area is gorgeous. Loved the tiny house--really beautifully finished and furnished. Our dog also had a lovely time. The communication was great--it was so nice to get the directions and key code well in advance of the trip, so there were no worries coming in. Whole experience was great. Highly recommend, would do it all again.

Everything was built within the last three years, so it's still got that freshly built feel. The grounds are well-maintained, with pride of ownership evident throughout. The buildings are close enough together that you can see all of them, but far enough that you don't hear each other's conversations. We stayed in The Bunkhouse, which true to it's name does have a bunk bed. It should be noted that the bottom bunk is a full size mattress that pulls out for additional headspace. The top bunk has a comfortable amount of headroom, and is safely away from the ceiling fan. There is also a twin size futon, but giving you room for a family of four. Air conditioning kept us cool in 100+ temps, and attached private bathroom was much appreciated. The shower in the bathroom has dual showerhead, one detachable, and a shower seat, making it hands down the fanciest cabin bathroom we've ever had the pleasure of using! Cabin also has a kitchen complete with bar table & four stools. The space is arranged like a studio apartment: Beds, living space, kitchen, dining and stacked washer/dryer are all in one space, with private bathroom off to the side. The deck is off to the other side, and has a sit down table with seating for four, plus a propane grill. Do you prefer a charcoal grill? Then head down the stairs off the deck to the charcoal grill! It's near the fire pit with four lounge chairs, with a picnic table closer to the horse stables. The horse stables are not occupied, but rather are there for if you want to bring your horse on vacation with you! There are multiple horse trails in the area, and even if you forgot your horse at home (LOL) Scott and Lisa are happy to loan you a steed and take you down those trails. Regardless of whether you're a horse rider, a river floater, or a sofa loafer, Old Desperado Ranch is the perfect place to escape your M-F 9-5 and reconnect with your inner peace.
*We gave location a 4/5 ONLY because it is in a valley, and all the valleys in the area have spotty cell reception at best. If you're a person who needs internet and cell access, stay out of the valleys.

The drive to the cabin was a rocky slope
It was a long gravel slope of a road to get to the cabin. If it rains when your there it could be a problem for some people. The bed was not comfortable due to the bunk on top being to close to your head. When you open the door tons of flies will follow you in. They charged me 25$ in damages for a tiny blind over the sink. The TV didn't work/ poor connection.

We had a great trip. The cabin was very clean and they supplied anything you needed. Lisa and Scott are a wonderful couple. Highly recommended and plan on using, again in the future.
Thanks, Peggy

The Bunk House winter time stay
Beautiful scenery and clean comfortable cabins. It was great for our group to be able to sleep and have our space separate from our friends who stayed in the ranch house. We liver being able to chop wood and have a nice toasty fire and bbq in the middle of the woods but still have the comforts of home. Excellent hostess communication throughout. The roads can be a little tricky so it's best to get there in the daylight.

I have stayed in all three properties at Old Desperado Ranch and enjoyed them all. I just recently tried out the new Bunk House with a friend and loved it! It has the tiny house feel but without having to climb up to lofts to sleep. The deck is quite nice and the outdoor living is faced away from the other cabins, which is nice. Highly recommend!
