Nice space, clean and comfortable. Nice beds! We didn't get to spend much time there other than to sleep.

This is a cut house based near anything you want; food or shopping needs. Clean and comfortable!

Spent time with family. The Depot was very well refurbished and very comfortable for 3 adults. The trains were nice to us on Saturday but Sunday night they were a little more frequent. Overall great experience.

Had several options for fun things to do close by. Place was spotless!
ONLY complaint (that can't be controlled by the owners anyway) is the train tracks. We decided to stay here even knowing about the tracks but unfortunately we learned we're not the people to sleep through them!
Beds were very comfortable and had no problems with cooking all weekend.

Cute little property with ample parking. Updated & very clean. The house had everything we needed. Plus good water pressure in the shower. Beds were comfortable too. The trains were loud but we got used to it by the 2nd night & we could not get internet in the room with twin beds. Overall, a good experience & we would definitely consider staying again.

The place was great. My only complaint was the train and train horn. This was mentioned in the listing but something to consider if you have light sleepers!

Property is very clean and updated. Nice central location. Very close to train tracks, but you hear them everywhere in Guttenberg so not a big deal. Great communication with owner.

Everything was exactly as described or pictured. All was very clean and well maintained. The layout and space was very well designed and more than comfortable for the two of us, and easily would have accommodated a family of four. The proximity to the railroad was no big deal. I rather enjoyed the trains that passed. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again if we were to return to the area. A big thank you to the host.

Great spot for the guys to crash after fishing every day. Accommodations worked out great. We’ll definitely stay again, but will probably bring a fan or two for a little background noise to help drown out the train a bit… just forgot to throw them in this time. Great price for a nice place:)

It's named the Depot and clearly shows it is next to the train tracks. At $85 a night, it was a deal. You just have a few trains going by that will shake the house, but I was able to wave at the conductor from my bed.
Beds were comfy. Extra linens in closet. Plenty of room to sprawl. Used grill and fire pit with no problems.
Absolutely would stay again! Plenty of parking. Close to the River walk.

Jeff's house is so cute and homey and extremely clean! My son has loved trains since he was a toddler and still does, so being close to the tracks was such fun for us! The town is pretty, easy drive to launch your boat on the Mississippi. Love walking to the little coffee shop! Easy drive to other towns. I really don't have anything negative to say, the house is well stocked in kitchen, bathroom and plenty of blankets. We really enjoyed our stay!

We enjoyed our stay. Very clean and well maintained. We cooked in for our meals and the only suggestion I have is that there be a few staples on hand. We did enjoy the can of nuts though! Thanks for a relaxing weekend.

No problem but worried about only 1 door to exit.

This place is beyond one of the BEST on all levels VRBO stays ever!! They go way beyond everyone’s needs! They had everything there!! Let’s just say my teenage kids want to come back!! The house has made me want my own little house like that! Thank you for everything!!

This place inside was extremely clean and new looking. Plenty of parking and easy to find. Only downfall is the railroad track that runs right behind the place. The train runs rather frequently. Granted any place located in Guttenberg is basically going to heat the train. Overall this a Wonderful place to stay. Will be looking at staying again here when in the area.

Very comfortable home- had plenty of extra towels, blankets etc. Clean and updated. There IS regular train activity very close to the house. It wasn’t a problem for us after the first night- we adjusted to it quickly. The town is very nice- a great pizza and ice cream spot downtown we enjoyed. If we’re in the area again we plan on staying here again!

Room to spread out with a family group. Extra throws provided in the living room were great. Golf game provided entertainment for young & old. Easy walk to the river front. Would definitely stay again!

Spring Break to Field of Dreams
The price was great and we rather drive a short distance than stay in a hotel. We can pack less since we can wash and cook in a house.

Cute house, alot bigger than we expected. Super clean. Close to downtown shops, restaurants lock and danm. Enjoy watching the barge traffic. Trains are loud but tolerable.

This was a great rental in a quaint little town. The place was very clean and updated. It is roomy and modern on the inside. Tastefully decorated with funny pics throughout the house. The owner was very quick to respond and pleasant to work with. We would definitely stay here again.

Guttenburg is a beautiful little river town, definitely far from sleepy! We were taking our adult and teenage kids for a quick getaway before we all head back to school and decided we wanted a centralized location to all of the National monuments, state parks, and attractions that we wanted to see on the Eastern side of the state. Guttenburg was a perfect location for this and the house was absolutely perfect for the 6 of us. It has been updated beautifully and the host has provided some fun, relaxing amenities to make the stay comfortable and enjoyable. Everything we wanted to see was within an hour and a half drive so we planned each days outing around this. We also enjoyed roaming around the town in the evenings and had some great meals in town. Our only regret is that we didn't realize the Fish Shack was closed on Tuesday and Wednesdays which is where we really wanted to eat before heading home. Watching the barges go through the Lock and Dam was also very interesting. We will be back!!

Cozy & Comfortable
This little house was perfect for me! It was cozy, comfortable, neat and clean. The kitchen was beautiful & had everything I needed, the bed was comfy and the shower was tall :) It worked perfectly as home base as I explored the river, neighboring towns, beautiful state parks and wineries. The host was amazing - very responsive and accommodating (thank you Jeff!). This house exceeded my expectations; I highly recommend it if you're looking for a home away from home.

Great space, much bigger than pictured!
Loved the renovation of this depot; it was a huge space, with lots of room to move. Comfy beds, excellent sofas, enormous kitchen and walking-around-in bathroom. Particularly enjoyed all the recliners and the very helpful entrance space we could use for bikes and boxes. Appreciated the Keurig and all the electronics. The train rumbling by was occasional and close enough to make the house rumble too, but did not last long and kind of added to the ambience. A few suggestions: bring a hairdryer and some bath soap with you if needed. We could not figure out the Roku without a code, so we just cast from our phones. Overall, the location was excellent, the house was neat and clean and way bigger than we expected, with lots of light. We will definitely stay here again. Thanks!

Baseball Tournament at Field Of Dreams
This property is exactly what we needed. We were in Iowa with our 12 year old grandson for a Field of Dreams baseball tournament. This house was just 30 min away. 2 bedrooms and 1 bath but plenty of room for the 3 of us.
Property was well stocked in the kitchen and also has a washer and dryer. It’s VERY neat and clean. There are large tv’s in the living room and both bedrooms.
I think just about the only thing it needed was maybe a couple of kitchen towels. They had lots of paper towels but drying dishes is so much easier with towels.
I would highly recommend this little house.

Beautiful house close to nature and shopping!
We loved this house! It was so clean and everything seemed brand new. We loved the decorating, too! It was a short walk to the river and just a short drive from neighboring towns with great shops, places to eat, and beautiful hiking spots. The only reason I didn't give the house 5 stars across the board, is that it is located right next to very noisy train tracks. The trains came several times in the evening and had very loud horns right next to the house. If that doesn't bother you, then this is a GREAT house!

A Remodeled Train Depot-How Cool is That?!
OMG what a perfect little home! I could live here. The inside was decorated and appointed perfectly. The ONLY thing I looked for and could not find were coasters! There is a Keurig coffee machine, complete with K-cups and creamer in the beautiful kitchen. Everything inside is brand new and in pristine shape. The decor is just right. Not too many pictures or knickknacks. However, the owner has a great sense of humor. There are a few funny canvas pictures in each room. There is also proof in a kitchen cupboard, but I won’t spoil any surprises! The three TV’s are brand new with streaming capabilities. The Wi-Fi was strong and there were many, many DVD’s to watch and games to play. The home includes a brand new washer and dryer as well! We were in walking distance of a Subway and a Kwik Star gas station for anything we needed in a pinch.
Jeff was right there was so much to do with a very small radius. The town of Guttenberg was was charming and Lock 10 was busy and interesting. Nearby McGregor has a lot to see and do as well. There are good restaurants, such as Latino’s as well as shops and antique stores. We went to every large park in the area including Pike’s Peak State Park, Effigy Mounds National Monument and Wyalusing State Park in WI-as well as a few county parks in between.. The river areas are gorgeous and we took so many pictures which was the main reason for out trip.
I would not be thorough in my review if I did not add that if train noises are not your thing at night you may need to reconsider, as the tracks are 20’ or so from the second bedroom and it can be very loud. I do wish I could have found a short history of the train depot as it was in Guttenberg’s history somewhere.
I am hoping to return here with a friend in the future, so I would definitely recommend this listing!
