Such a hidden gem if in the Gettysburg area! Extremely clean, comfortable, and inviting! Wish we could have stayed longer!

The rustic old farmhouse feel of the place was cozy and took you back in time. We were only minutes from Gettysburg so we were able to escape to the country for quiet evenings around the fire pit.

Very appreciative of our stay. Only difficult thing was our need for bathroom in the night and having to go up and down stairs. Otherwise highly recommend!!linda bench

The house is very clean and comfortable.
Great location out of town if you want some space from the crowd.
But close enough to be anywhere in town quickly.

We had a wonderful stay at the General's Hideaway! This was the second time we have stayed here and both times have been great! Danielle is a great hostess! She set up awsome package for our dog and made him feel at home too!❤️

This house is in a great location for easy access to Gettysburg. We brought two of our dogs and they love the place. It can get a little chilly downstairs, but nothing an extra sweatshirt can’t fix. Great communication with owner!

My BIL and I used this property as our base for exploring the town of Gettysburg and the Battlefield. When we were home it was very spacious. There was enough room for both of us to have some alone time. The property is close to the road, so on a couple of occasions we could hear the traffic. Not an issue at night because we were so tired.

We rented the house for our one night stay in Gettysburg. The house was very clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed. We enjoyed sitting outside at the table and then playing pool in the evening. I would definitely stay again if I was in the area.

The General's Hideaway is near enough to be handy to Gettysburg yet far enough away to be private and served by Uber Eats. Our hostess was wonderfull. The cottage was extremely clean and well appointed with everything you need. Just bring your cloths and food. You dont need anything else. Even your pets are greeted with treets and toys.We will be back.

Very cute place, we had fun playing a game of pool too. The owners even provided a book which included things to do around the area, places to eat, wineries to visit and fun tours to go on. The owners are very detail oriented and we had everything provided for us that we needed during our stay. I would highly recommend staying here!!

We enjoyed our stay at General's Hideway. Everything we needed was there and the property was perfect for our pet. We also appreciated the way you organized the restaurants in your information book making it very easy to find everything and there were plenty of hooks in the bathroom. I think the biggest draw for us was the closeness to the Gettysburg battlefield which was extremely convenient. Thank you for being so thoughtful for your guests.

This is a really cute place and especially great if you are traveling with pets. Really clean and well stocked. It was perfect for us, but we were out all day and really only there to sleep. Beds were comfortable too.

We booked our stay on short notice and were very happy with this rental. It was spotless, nicely decorated, and had a big yard for us to walk our dog in. The owners also provided us with a dog crate so we didn’t have to bring our own. We enjoyed the weekend in Gettysburg and were surprised to discover that we were visiting on the anniversary of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address. Naturally, we had to go see the ceremony at the Battlefield. It was great and the people were wonderful.

We had a relaxing weekend at the hideaway . This property is minutes from everything you'd want to visit in Gettysburg. The apple festival was amazing. The round barn was beautiful. We also enjoyed the battlefield tours and ghost hunting. As far as the property, very cozy. And the owners were very accommodating. The traffic was high at times but it is expected for that area.
Over all we would rent her again.

The house was wonderful. Just as described. Very clean and welcoming. We had a very good time. Check in was easy. It was everything we expected for our gettysburgh trip, except for traffic and noise at night. Sleep was very difficult with the house that close to a busy highway. The pictures don't show just how close it is. If you are use to traffic noise, it may not be that disturbing. For us, it was very hard. We tried buying fans to drown the sound out and used the noise machine in the bedroom. Neither helped. We left a day early due to lack of sleep. Again though, the home owners were friendly, the house was lovely and alot of fun. We just could not sleep.

Second Visit
We decided to return here for another visit and stay at the same place since it was perfect last time! The description is exactly as listed. The kitchen is perfect for cooking in, or grilling on the patio area. Be sure to bring firewood if you can, you will not be disappointed with the views in the sky by fire light. The beds are very comfortable and the home is cozy and welcoming. The house location is super close to the battlefield and many attractions, very east to find. There are many wineries, cideries and distilleries. Great shops down town for fun shopping and taking in the day. Hosts are super helpful with local info and making sure your stay is perfect! We will return again, there is way too much to do in the area! Thank you so much for the memories!

Cute and Adequate for short stay
Very cute place. Sufficient for our short stay. However, I do have a couple of reasons for only giving it 4 out of 5 stars.
1. It was closer to the highway than you can tell from the pics and description. Sometimes trucks passing through the nearby intersection were quite loud and disturbing.
2. While I appreciate how open, bright and airy the living space is, it never got warm enough for us. When the heater was running, it was rather loud. My husband felt they needed to do something different with how the cottage is heated. And, maybe better insulation? I'm sure this was only an issue for us because the weather never got above 55 degrees this weekend and it was a bit windy. Thankfully, they had plenty of blankets available.
3. The bathroom is rather tiny. Specifically, the shower. My 6'2, 250lb. husband had a rather tight fit!
Overall, though, it was very clean and had all we needed for our brief stay. I appreciated the decor, the comfortable beds and all the kitchenware needed for simple meals.

Girl's trip
Great location, allowing us to easily go into town, enjoy the state park, and local wineries. Spacious downstairs where we could cook together, relax and play pool! Upstairs was rustic and beautiful.
There is noise from the road but sound machines are provided. But know that before you come - it won't be super quiet. But we totally enjoyed the house and definitely would return.

Exceeded Expectations!!!
What you read in the description is EXACTLY it and more!! The house was very clean and has everything you need. We packed toiletries, but just as you read they are there if you would forget. The towels and sheets are top notch, remember there is a washer and dryer so you really do not need to bring extra if you are staying longer. My boys, 16 and 21 enjoyed relaxing and the pool table was a lot of fun for hanging out together and having great conversation. It is right by the main road, which makes for a very easy in and out plus to find when you arrive. The Battlefield is literally right there, 5 minute ride. There is a pizza shop on the main street too, not even 5 minutes, There are two local wineries within 2 miles, we visited one. I am almost afraid to brag about this place because it will book so fast!!!
Owners had a super fast text response and were excellent communicators with everything. As a mom, I highly recommend this place, My boys agree and my oldest said he prefers to do this over a hotel, because it is such a relaxed setting.
We will be back, there is so much to do in Gettysburg that we didn't finish it all and this house is the best place for us to stay to see more. See you summer of 2022, we are staying longer too!!

Amazing place. Pics don’t do it justice!
Your place was the best we stayed at out of Vegas, Zion, Colorado, Kansas City, Kentucky, and Asheville on our cross country trip from San Diego to Rhode Island (this was rated by us and our 12 and 13 year old) Such a cool place perfect for our family to stay and see the battlefields. Thank you!
