About this house rental
Your getaway in the mountains awaits! Welcome to Juniper Grove - your country home in the Catskills. This 4 bedroom 2 full/2 half bathroom farmhouse has stunning views of the Ashokan Reservoir, which you can enjoy from the classic farmhouse front porch. Sitting on 40+ private acres and across the street from forever-wild land, you are surrounded and held by Mother Nature at every turn. Inside you will find all the modern conveniences and comforts to support your stay. *Now with high speed WiFi*
The space
Outside there is a spring-fed pond for swimming (ice skating if it gets cold), forests for walking and hiking, and outdoor fireplaces and a fire pit for warming. Inside there are more fireplaces for relaxing, a chef's kitchen with a wood stove for creating, a living room for sprawling, and cozy beds for resting.
We hope you will love cooking and baking (and maybe dancing?) in the chef’s kitchen. There is a gas range, a convection oven, two sinks, all the kitchen essentials and appliances, and a huge island for all to gather around. The island comfortably seats 6 and at least 2 more have been squeezed in with no problem. It’s so nice to fire up the wood stove in there and spend the day hanging out and creating delicious food. In addition to the main kitchen area, there is a butler’s pantry - a separate area with a sink, a dishwasher and extra cabinets. Here you will also find fixings for coffee and tea. In the dining room, there is a gorgeous custom built farm table if you want to have a ‘grown-up’ meal or spread out with a puzzle.
Plenty of lounging opportunities in the living room! There is one spot with 3 fun rounded couches to cozy up to the fireplace, and a sectional on the other side of the room for movie and TV viewing. The TV has a Fire TV Stick so you can log onto any of your streaming apps (Netflix, Hulu, etc.). There is also a mostly in tune baby grand Steinway piano if you happen to play. There are a few Sonos speakers around the house, and a small selection of puzzles, games and so many books.
On the first floor there are two half bathrooms, each with their own unique personality - one off the kitchen and one under the living room stairs. Upstairs there are two full Jack and Jill bathrooms, both with bathtubs and each located and shared between two bedrooms. There is also a laundry room with a new washer and dryer.
In honor of Mother Nature, the bedrooms are named after the Elements: Fire, Water, Earth and Air. Fire is the biggest bedroom with a King bed, day bed, seating area and fireplace. The day bed has a twin mattress and can definitely be used as a very comfortable sleeping bed. The Fire room shares a bathroom with Air. Like her name, the Air room is refreshing with a Queen bed and a lounge-y chair for reading or relaxing. On the other side of the second floor is the Water room with views of the Reservoir, a Queen bed and a writing desk. Sharing a bathroom with Water, is the Earth room. The Earth room is very grounding with a Queen bed and seating area. We also have two full and one twin air mattresses available should you need extra sleeping spots.
Ah! I almost forgot the best part - even in the Winter - is the front porch with sweeping, picturesque views. There is no better place for your morning coffee or evening drink. There is also a huge stone patio out back. A great place to make a fire in the outdoor fireplace, or head out closer to the pond and gaze up at the stars from the fire pit.
And don’t be shy about making fires. The wood shed is stocked for the winter and ready for you! (We can help with fire making if you need assistance.)
If you care to venture out, Woodstock and Phoenicia are a 15 minute ride, and Kingston is 20 minutes. We are 30-40 minutes to skilling at Belleayre or Hunter Mountain. There are plenty of markets, health food & grocery stores (the closest 10 minutes away in Boiceville), as well as excellent take-out dining options. We'll share all our favorites! Please reach out if you would like to add concierge service to your stay - we are happy to hit the local markets and stores to stock the place with your favorites before your arrival.
Your well-behaved pets are welcome for an additional fee. Please reach out to discuss.
My partner and our dogs lived in this home for 2 years while renovating, restoring, painting and filling her up with so much love!! We have moved into the adjacent cottage (a separate structure from the farmhouse) and are available for whatever you need during your visit.
Living here has been heaven on earth for me, but I'm sure not all would agree. This is an old farmhouse in the middle of the country and with that lifestyle come rustic adventures - power outages, bugs, and the beings of nature - deer, rabbits, birds, chipmunks, squirrels, mice, owls, bears and others - just steps from your door.
Come and be supported by nature. All are welcome here.

Beautiful, well-stocked, and great for groups – exceeded our expectations!
Jenny and Ariel's home is the perfect combination of cozy and spacious – our group of 9 adults + dog fit comfortably and enjoyed our stay so much we're already considering another trip to the farmhouse!
The home is decorated beautifully and designed with clear thought and care. Not to mention it has the best stocked kitchen of any rental property we've ever stayed before.
Jenny was communicative and accommodating ahead of our trip. During our stay Jenny and Ariel were nearby to help with any questions that popped up but also completely unobtrusive and respectful of our space. We loved our stay, and would absolutely recommend the farmhouse!

Wonderful property!!
We had a fantastic weekend with our family of seven adults, one infant and two dogs. When we pulled up to the house we were immediately greeted by Jennifer who was very kind and helpful. We were welcomed into the kitchen with a sweet note from our hosts and a basket of healthy snacks, delicious vegetables from the garden and bright and cheery Zinnias! The kitchen was fully equipped with top quality dishes, pots, pans, kitchen knives, etc. The beds were extremely comfortable. We appreciated the air conditioning in all of the bedrooms since we visited on a very hot and humid weekend. We were not able to use the fire pit, outdoor fireplace or pond due to the rainy weather, but we thought the best part of the house was the amazing front porch! Such a beautiful view and SO relaxing. This house is immaculate and the decor is amazing. We had a wonderful time and we can’t wait to go back!

Home away from home
Our stay was pure magic. The house sits on a property surrounded by trees and grasses with a view of the reservoir that is truly special. Every room in the house is well appointed with exactly what you may need and none of the clutter that you don’t. I quickly found out rule #1: Do not lay on the beds unless you are in a sleeping mood. Every single one is extremely comfortable with bedding that is soft and cozy. I didn’t last more than a minute before I fell into the deepest sleep every single night. The home was decorated so well. Function over form but trust me, the form was phenomenal too! Plenty of: space at the dining room table, sofas for lounging, books that I was drooling over, delicious coffee (that they sell and that I forgot to buy, dang it!), appliances that are top notch. The home itself is perfect for visitors. The hallways are naturally wide making moving around a breeze. There is a tv with anything you may need at your disposal. There are so many fireplaces!! The wood burning stove in the kitchen painted a golden color was the most charming feature that stood out and somehow meshed perfectly at the same time with the rest of the soothing color palette. Plenty of full size bathrooms plus a super charming powder room off the kitchen. So much natural light! They have Sonos systems in the house that I admittedly knew nothing about. HOWEVER, I decided to just flick the one in my bedroom on one evening and I didn’t turn it off once after that. The music/playlist was made for me. This is a home away from home blending old and new so seamlessly that the only surprise to me is that they didn’t keep it all for themselves!
The hosts are the absolute icing on the cake. If they are reading this, can we be friends for real? Jenny is the sweetest, kindest soul. I asked ahead for vegan recommendations and not only did she make some fantastic recs but she also had a lovely note waiting for us next to a bowl of vegan snacks! Ariel is just the kind of person you wish there were more of in the world. He offered me help with my bags on more than one occasion and when I was uncertain how to work the tv remotes he came over immediately to help even though he had just gotten home. When we were a little delayed getting out on our last day due to a hiding kitty he didn’t get annoyed or angry with us. He asked if he could help us. I felt like I already knew them. Their two dogs are adorable too!
This was a 10/10 stay and one we can’t wait to repeat!
