- this unit has a ton of charm and was incredibly bigger than I thought, but be warned, the unit does not look like what is described in the photos AT ALL. The kitchen and the rooms are accurate, but everything else is not. That was a bummer because I loved the photos. In addition, the living room had a giant table with chairs and almost every single chair is on the verge of breaking. Make sure you lean all the way back in them. We had a lot of space as a party of 5. They had kitchen and bathroom amenities. I will say that the “NYC” skyline view as described in the description is a little misleading. It is 100% a partial view of the upper cityfrom the balcony, so if you think you will have an entire window view from the unit, you will not. However, if you do go outside and down the street just a little bit, you will see a spectacular view of the entire city. The communication with the host was a little hit and miss in the beginning. We wanted to leave our bags there early before check in we didn’t get any information or instruction on how to drop off the bags, and we could not communicate with the host, and the phone number listed is incorrect, which led us to lugging all of our luggage around the city for six hours while we waited for check in time. That was incredibly frustrating, but the host reached out to us and apologized before check in. Other than that, I appreciate the space.

We checked out early, spent one night there. I was prepared for the location and exterior of the unit from a Google search once I had the address, however the interior looks nothing like the photos on the listing. We were expecting a bright/colorful stay. Totally different furniture and vibe, all the window screens are torn and the ceiling in the living room has some serious issues. The back deck/yard is completely overgrown and not usable. There was no parking spot as advertised in the listing either (listing mentioned 1 parking spot)- we drove around and found an alternative we paid for. The bed sheets were clean but the whole place could use a deep clean. You could tell it was once a fantastic place that someone cared for in a great spot but it needs a lot of work and it's 100% not accurate to the VBRO listing.

I was overall impressed with my stay. The apartment has a great view of the Manhattan skyline, and is in a safe, family filled area. Location is great, across from a park with a playground, and you are right next to a bus stop that takes you to the subway hub blocks away from Time Square. There are several great places to eat within walking distance, and there is a walking path that overlooks the Hudson and the skyline of Manhattan.
We found the bus system in and out of Manhattan to be really easy because several buses take the same route into and out of NYC. It felt like we had door to door service to the heart of Manhattan.
The rooms were great, but a little warm with the July heat, with plenty of space in the kitchen and main room. The only concern I had about our entire stay was a couple of the chair backs at the dining table were starting to loosen and we were concerned that they may break if we leaned against the back, but that was a minor concern for such a beautiful place. This has been a wonderful stay, and I will definitely be looking to stay here again next time I am coming to NYC

Parking was listed as being included in this rental, but there were no instructions left about how to access it. We contacted the owner via the mobile number provided but no one responded to our texts for two days. When we messaged via the VRBO app and contacted VRBO corporate and asked them to reach out to the owner, we finally received a response after another day. By then, we had reached out to the superintendent of the property to see if they had instructions, and they did provide them.
In addition, our trip was in March when it was still in the 30s-50s temperature-wise; however, it was so hot in the apartment that we had to leave our windows open. We reached out to the superintendent, and they said that they would call the renter downstairs to ask them to adjust it. (There was no control in our apartment.). It did get a couple of degrees cooler, but we had to keep our windows open the entire visit to be comfortable.
There were also some issues that weren't a major problem but deserve to be noted. The furnishings in the common area were not as pictured in the listing. Instead of multiple lounging options, there was a very long and awkward sectional. Also, only two washcloths were provided for our family of five. There were plenty of towels, but not enough washcloths. We went to the store and purchased some along with bath soap that also wasn't provided.
The location was great for a view of the city and easy access to the bus in and out of the city, but we left disappointed in our stay.

Welp it was an interesting stay
So I want to start off by staying that it was impossible to switch my reservation months in inadvance from saturday-monday to Friday-sunday. once I called Vrbo a few times and sent multiple messages the week of check in they finally changed it. This reservation was for my sisters bachelorette weekend.
The day of check in there was no clear instructions on how to get into the apartment(check in), I finally got ahold of the home owner and I was told I had to contact the landlord and she will help us get in (not listed on the vrbo check in instructions). I was able to get into the the apartment after phone calls and texts and circling the neighborhood for 30 minutes (4 flights of steep stairs later, we got in) then told I had one parking spot in the garage. Parked. the house smelled like mold, but we tried to move past it. Next day we went to a day spa in the morning and we took our car, when we arrived back at the house, our parking spot in the garage was taken by the landlords jetski, we had to then contact the landlord and find alternative parking.
Overall, the landlord lives in the building but was not the most helpful. The home owner doesn't even know what apartment you're calling about because he has multiple, and can't be bothered by messages on the vrbo app (not resonsive). The houses: the outside is nothing like the inside, so we locked the doors right after we got inside (sketchy). I wish I took photos so you can see this visible difference of the outside horror. The inside is beautiful (bedrooms/living room like the photos) but we didn't touch the shower because there was visible mold (we showered at the day spa). Therefore, I would not stay at this apartment again, nor would I pay what I paid to stay at this apartment. I kept this reservation because of the little choices I had in the area. Oh and the landlord also called me at 1:30am when everyone was already sleeping, don't know why that was done but very inaproiate. Disappointed is an understatement. Is it too late to ask for a refund?
