Its a beautiful piece of land, in the evening deer would come and eat apples from the orchard. The building itself consists of an old little wood cabin (now master bedroom & bathroom) around which the rest of the rooms is build around. For people with house dust mite allergy we cannot recommend -

Thanks

Nice place, great neighbors, peaceful stay. Wifi didn't work the first 2 days and 19.5 acres must be wooded because the yard was small. Overall satisfied!

It's a nice quiet home. Sits back away from the road. It does need better mattresses on the beds. They are very hard. Especially the queen bunk beds.
Definitely needs window coverings in the 2nd bedroom and bathroom by the kitchen. That's just common sense.

We stayed at the property two nights hoping to both rockhound on Lake Superior’s shores as well as stargaze and try to see the Northern Lights. We loved sitting and identifying the different birds we saw/ heard, as well as seeing a meteor and deer feeding right from the front door of the property. The property was spacious, yet cozy and well outfitted, which makes a huge difference in the UP- the washer/dryer and dishwasher were well appreciated and we loved looking at all the rocks in the fireplace/ shower area.

Everything very nice. Problems were a squeaky bunk bed; no curtains in bedroom where the sun came in early in the morning and woke occupants; difficulty with stove burners not turning on. Good response from owner, but not completely fixed.

If you don't have herd mentality and trust your instinct, this place you will find an amazing jewel in UP. Not far from beach/water but at very quiet location and property itself, trust the online pics don't do justice to what an amazing interior this has! Thoroughly enjoyed the rustic look, the layout, the interior done tastefully, all the amenities and didn't feel like away from home! We had in the group elderly in their 80s to youngest being 3Y and everyone had fun. Just loved it and will return for sure. While getting to the property know that, the house number plate is by the road and you got to drive little bit to get to the house, we were there in the night so property wasn't as visible from the main road but in day time, you can easily spot it.

We were very pleased with this awesome place! Very close to town, great private setting, plenty of room! Really unique setup. Thank you very much for allowing us to stay here! We would stay here again for sure!

First, the good: the neighborhood is quiet, the setting beautiful, the bathrooms new-ish and clean, the cabin is a unique and charming combo of two cabins put together, the views out the back are beautiful. The host was very responsive and helpful when we had trouble lighting the heater. The wi-fi and roku worked well. The not-so good--the main bedroom is very dark and has a musty odor, the mattresses in both rooms are pretty uncomfortable. Though the setting is very pretty the cabin was a bit too rustic for me.

We got comfortable right away! Love all the wndows, firepit, outside places to sit. Didn't lack a thing. Only drawback was not bright enough lights. We would come back, but bring a light for the one bedroom, which is unusually dark.

I wasn’t sure about the dark cabin decor online but when we got there, we loved it! Great windows! Kids enjoyed the bunk room with their own TV. Nice quiet country spot.

Overall a great place to stay. We would definitely rent again. Location is perfect. The only suggestion we would have is to add curtains to the bunk bedroom and the 2nd bathroom. It was a little weird not having any. We actually hung a sheet over window in the bathroom.

We enjoyed our stay here with so many windows to look out at nature. We saw a doe and two spotted fawns. The location was ideal for our many travels. We found our way the The Dream Bean Machine each day for a morning beverage and fresh from the oven pastry!
Thanks for sharing your beautiful home.

We had a very nice time in the UP. Our cabin/house was perfect. I could not have asked for a more equip cabin/house. Close to the water and not far from other attractions. We had a Great time and would love to do it again. I think I would add an Orchard house guests book to write about the time we had. A great way to share experences with others.

Off the beaten path
What a great property! Reminded us of the cottages we spent summers at as kids. Everything we needed for our stay and 5 minutes to the village and beach, and easy access to all kinds of adventures within an hours’ drive. Would highly recommend and look forward to visiting again!

Rustic home with everything you need
We had a comfortable stay here. Close to town. Well stocked. No curtains kinda freaked us out a bit and stove burners weren’t all working but overall fine. Owner very helpful and responsive. Saw a bear just down the road which was cool yet
Scary.

Rustic cabin
There were lots of different bugs inside the cabin. There were several light/lamps that had no bulbs.

Great place
Property is beautiful and location was perfect for us. We had deer and bears in the yard which was great other than they get into the trash. House had everything we needed and nothing we didn’t. House was very clean and unique. We love rustic places and this fit well, but if you don’t you may not be happy. We will be returning. The host was also very accommodating so thank you.

Perfect with privacy
What an excellent stay. This cute and cozy cabin in the woods was exactly what we wanted. Celebrating our 20th anniversary in this cabin was a dream come true. We loved the privacy coupled with the convenience of being so close to town. The place was very clean and well supplied with soft towels and plenty of soft seating. Being in the country there were a few country buzzers but it is “in the country”.
I want to thank the host for great communication and providing us with exactly what was described in the listing. We would absolutely return. There is room enough for a family yet cozy enough for just the two of us.

Wonderful seclusion
We loved being just around the corner from Grand Marais while feeling like we were out in the middle of nowhere all by ourselves! Wonderful home with small complaint that we could hear a mouse and see mouse poop one day. Otherwise the house was perfect for our needs and recommended it immediately to some family members.

Good location, house needs work
The location was just what we were looking for; perfect for rock hunting on Lake Superior. House was roomy enough for the 4 of us. The full size bunk beds were nice. We got to see a porcupine out the window one morning, which was really cool. Also saw some deer another morning.
We did have some issues with wasps, of which we had about 4 to 6 inside the house every day. This was tough for my 7 year old daughter whom is deathly afraid of them. The bed in master bed is in desperate need of replacement. We really struggled to sleep at night.
There was some decent rain while we were there, which caused a pretty bad leak over the kitchen.
Overall, there was good and bad. As long as your expectation is a cabin with a few issues, you shouldn’t be disappointed.

Our stay at Grand Maray
The property was as described
6.0 / 10.0
More rustic than we could appreciate.
The cabin is nice inside and is remodeled with a modern look. It is not detail cleaned as would be expected for a rental property in this category. Our first night the 'gales of November came early' in September, knocking out power to 28 homes in the county. The owner was responsive the next morning to ensure crews were working on it. Still no power for CPAPs, water, cooking, or lights in a strange environment for hours.
As mentioned in a previous review there are steps into the front door landing and master bedroom then again onto the main living level. Other negatives mentioned are still true; the master bath wall by the sink is grossly splatted with toothpaste residue and burners on the stove do not work. Topping our list of issues were the dishes not completely washed, rusted shelves in the refrigerator, and mice having the run of the house. There are what appear to be ultrasonic deterrents but they are absolutely no good with mice running right past. We bought traps and caught three mice in two days. House rules require hauling the garbage container to the street abnormal for this rate and even after a significant cleaning fee the house cleaner is asking for a tip for a job well done, NOT.

Great Location
Close enough to Grand Marais to be convenient, but far enough out to be nice and quiet.

Worked well for three senior couples needing a place to stay during the Grand Marais Music & Arts Festival. A private location within walking distance to the village.

UP Getaway
Excellent location to so many adventures. Good amenities. Wished had advertised steps inside the house (had a handicapped person) but back door easy entrance. Hot but weather was unseasonably hot (90 and humid). Could use vacuum clean at ceiling/wall and toothpaste clean up at one sink. Still 90% cleaner and trusted clean than a hotel. I would definitely stay again.

Cute UP cabin
Everything was great. The only way it would of been better was for the property to have a toaster and more cooking pans in the kitchen and a BBQ grill to use outside, then it would have made it even better.

Quiet cozy cabin
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Grand Marais and the surrounding area! This was our first time in the UP. This property was great and as listed. The surrounding acreage was beautiful, the cabin was perfect for my husband and I and our daughter, son in law and littles. Jason and Erin graciously allowed us to have one extra “little” who was in a pack n play. So we were grateful for that flexibility to have 7 total. This cabin is rustic and has a lot of original charm… which is cool. Additions have been put on so our grands loved all the windows inside that open like an ice cream shop where you walk up and order. One thing to note… the master bedroom and bath do get warm as they do not have windows that open to the outside. So to get cooler air flowing through you have to get creative. Many fans are provided to cool things down. Plenty of space. A well stocked kitchen. We didn’t need the fireplaces but wood was provided inside for that. The house was clean, bathrooms and kitchen very clean….but keep in mind that it’s an old cabin with logs as walls and stacked wood on the floor, so it’s not the sparkling clean of a new or remodeled place. We didn’t watch TV as we were too busy exploring the gazillion water fall the UP has to offer!

Great cabin feel in a beautiful lakeshore town with close access to stunning Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Come in august and feast on blackberries in the yard.

Very peaceful, great location being close to town & beaches but secluded enough that you can feel surrounded by the forest. Will definitely be coming back again!
