About this cottage rental
Cozy one bedroom cottage located on the shores of Lake Champlain. Nestled in tall cedars on McNeil's Bay, across from the Charlotte-Essex Ferry. A spectacular location, with views of the Adirondacks across the lake. Fall asleep to the sounds of waves lapping on the shore and halyards lightly ringing on the sailboats moored in McNeil's Bay.
Views across the lake of Sloop Island and glimpses of the Adirondacks through the living-area window and spectacular views of the Adirondacks from the rocky shoreline less than 40 feet from the cottage.
Private beach, excellent location for bird watching, fishing, kayaking, sailing, standup paddle boarding and swimming. You can rent a sailboat from the Charlotte Sailing Center across the bay or you can moor your shallow-draft motor boat or sailboat in a protected spot steps from the house (trailered boats can be launched at the nearby Converse Bay Fishing Access).
This house is the perfect getaway for one person or a couple. The kitchen is small but functional. You can sit inside in the living area or on the small porch reading and/or enjoying the water, look for fossils on the rocky beach, or walk or bike on the private dirt roads. 20 minutes from the Shelburne Museum, 30 minutes from Burlington, easy access to the Green Mountains or the Adirondacks via the ferry. A favorite activity of ours is to park at the ferry dock, walk on to the ferry, ride to Essex while enjoying the breeze on the lake and the views of the High Peaks of the Adirondacks, get dinner and/or ice cream, and ride home looking at Mt. Mansfield, Camels Hump, and the rest of the Green Mountains.
A cozy simple house in a spectacular location.

This home is bright and airy. The view from the porch is 180 degrees of lake. We swam, kayaked and floated in the cool waters of Lake Champlain with complete privacy. The house is small, but has everything we wanted. The kitchen had nice quality appliances. The on-demand hot water made the showers amazing.
Glen is a fabulous host. We have stayed in many camps along the lake and this is our favorite.

Absolutely perfect location. Little cabin hiding in the woods. Beautifully done up inside and neat as a pin. Felt like a secret sitting on the porch listening to the ferry and the boats and peeking out through the trees. Very peaceful sitting down by the lake.

We loved this place - it was so safe and private. It had everything we needed, and the lake was absorbing, always offering something to see. We kayaked on it often, and also hiked in the area. The owner is wonderful to work with. We hope to return!

This sweet spot is perfect if you want to be away from it all yet have a view of so much - the Adirondacks, the Charlotte ferry, sailboats, some curious squirrels and ducks.

After having such an outstanding experience staying at this cabin last summer, I was elated to return again this year. The host Glen was as gracious as always, and the cabin was well equipped with everything I needed. The tranquility, privacy and natural beauty of this spot is the reason I returned, as well as the close proximity to Burlington. Thank you to Glen and his family for another terrific stay at the cabin!

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary. The cabin and the property are lovely. There are so many different spots to explore. We were surrounded in beauty, wanting for nothing. If we did need anything, I am sure Glen would have immediately taken care of it. He is so responsive and considerate. I can’t rate this place any higher than 5 starts but would if I could!

high praise
appreciated the minimal disturbance to the forest/animal habitat and efficiency of the dwelling's hot water/plumbing/construction design. Thank you to the host family for sharing their property.
Host Glen, was very pleasant to work with, and accommodating for a needed/desired extended stay. Hard to leave--hope to return! :-)

A short stay at the Little Cabin in the Woods
The Little Cabin in the Woods made for a delightful stay. The cabin itself is compact, cozy, and well appointed. For example, I appreciated that there was a supply of coffee filters available upon arrival. It is situated in a forest just steps from Lake Champlain. The owner was very responsive to my needs and is a pleasure to interact with. The area offers many activities, all in a setting of picturesque views of water and mountains. A picnic dinner at the nearby Charlotte beach offers views of the sunset over Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains. Highly recommended!

I loved this place so much after my stay in June, I returned to rent again for most of Sept/Oct!
This cabin is truly wonderful. I previously stayed here in June and thoroughly enjoyed being right on the water for the start of summer. Sunsets were incredible over the Adirondacks and stargazing was just as marvelous. I returned at the end of the summer to stay through the end of October, and was blessed to experience autumns arrival. The beauty of the colors changing all around made the sunsets even more spectacular. I was also lucky enough to get to know the host Glen and his fantastic family. Learning the family history on that point made staying there all the more special. I cannot recommend this place highly enough!

I had a wonderful stay at this property. The cabin is charming, private and right on the water.
I had an outstanding experience renting this property. The host Glen was welcoming, gracious and always communicated in a timely and helpful manner. The cabin itself is charming, providing all that I needed during my stay. The cedars surrounding the property offered extra privacy and quiet. The location right on the water is breathtaking. The magnificent views, incredible sunsets, starry nights and overall serenity made it hard to actually leave the property! When you can pull yourself away from the property, you can easily explore the surrounding area, including Burlington, which is only a short drive from here. I enjoyed my experience so much I will be returning in September.

Perfect place for a secluded little vacation
The cottage it self is very small and quaint. Perfect for one person and a partner. It’s right on beautiful lake Champlain. With some forethought and planning as to where you could keep your trailer , you can moor right on the property. Perfect for the avid angler, or cruising around with a friend or loved one
