Stayed here with a friend and our two 5 year olds. It was great. Home was stocked with everything we needed. Beach was gorgeous and perfect for the little ones to safely enjoy.

Cottage wasn't terribly dirty apon arrival. I've seen worse, wasn't all bad. One thing we did not see until we got there was the wiring is old. None of the outlets have a ground plug. So you need an adapter for almost everything you bring and want to plug in. They have some there for what they already plugged in. I think for the price they could update the outlets and save a hassle and possible fire problem. Place was very convenient to local stores. Very nice beach space. We would go back. Really enjoyed our week there and thankfully had great neighbors to share it with for the week.

Loved that there was kayaks and paddle board. An ore was broken but not a huge deal. Ton of seating on the beach. Lots of known restaurants nearby, enjoyable stay. It was small but it met our needs. The window air conditioner kept the whole place nice and cool. Didn't want to leave. Very sandy beach with no rocks. Shallow water with 2 sandbars.

Beautiful Beach
The no towels provided thing is really bizarre. It’s disclosed, but it’s very inconvenient. There was also no extra bedding, as well as no bedding for the pull-out couch, so some of us were without blankets or sheets. Since we flew into town, bringing this stuff wasn’t possible, so we just had to go without bedding and all five of us shared the one towel we had. Outdoor space is shared, so if we hadn’t rented the whole property, we’d have been pretty integrated with any other guests, but it was a great outdoor space for a family gathering since we knew who was in the other cabins.

Beautiful Starry Nights and AM Sunrises!
Great little escape for family with kids on go! Communication with owner was easy peasy! Loved wide open beach for rock hunting, letting kids swim and splash around. Very cool sandbar short walk on the right as you walk down the beach into the lake. The cabin was cute. I do recommend to pack a night light. We used dollar tree glow sticks to light up bathroom and stone path to bonfire pit for nighttime smore treats. They make great beacons for locating your kids in dark too! Also our neighboring cabin, Northern Air, had real little babies so I didn't want to shine porch light and blast light into their window while new moms and dad's trying to sleep after dark. The laundry mat is only about a 6 min drive. Rite Aid sells liquor and Family Fare grocery mart only sells beer and wine but is good for stocking up on food items. We did a lot of canoeing, shopping, and visited friends in the area. I'm an early riser so sunrise kayaking before current gets strong was unbelievable for picturesque views of skyline atop Lake Huron. I took amazing pictures with my Cannon while enjoying my morning java. The shower in Catching Fireflies is pretty small and commode sits low but as we aren't huge people it didn't effect us much. Until they get cable upgrade, bring DVD's of your favorite movies. The owners accommodated us with any issues we had and were willing to go above and beyond. I have to say it was a good pick for our needs and will hopefully visit again in the future! They have updates planned over winter so I'm sure it's only going to get sweeter with time.

Poor experience
Over rated. Close to highway and noisy. Shower should be replaced. Bathroom door would not close. Electrical exposed and outdated. Musty smelling. Beach was very nice.

Great Stay for a Family Vacation
We visited Oscoda for our first ever family vacation with our boys. Catching Fireflies was in awesome! It was in a great location, the water was right outside the door, and there were even sand toys available for the kiddos to use. Just down the road is the beach park and there are several restaurants near by. Definitely stay here!

Beautiful sandy beach!
My family and I really enjoyed our stay in Oscoda. Catching Fireflies was just perfect! We used this as our home base to explore the area and the north east coastline of Michigan from Tawas to Presque Isle. Would recommend to friends and family.

Cute little cabin
Cute little cabin right on Lake Huron. You do not face the water but it’s right outside your door and a very small walk. You do need to bring extra sheets for pull out couch and extra blankets if the weather is cool. Close to downtown Oscoda and really close to many kayak/canoe rentals on the river

Cute cottage...
We enjoyed our stay at Catching Fireflies. Unfortunately, the weather was not very cooperative and we were not able to enjoy the beach as much as we wanted to. Cottage was clean and as described. One small complaint, but there is nothing that can be done....cottage was right next to US 23 and the road noise was pretty loud at times. But other than that, we would recommend this site.

Great beach location
Really good spot for beach access. Kids loved the kayaks and paddle board. We didn’t spend much time inside besides for sleeping. Accommodations were adequate but not glamorous, which was expected. A very good value. Would stay here again.

Lovango Bay
The property was easy to find and a great location! The listing however did say two queen beds and there was a queen bed and a full bed. The sleeper couch did not have any linens and was full of sand when taken out. The beach was beautiful and clean! The fire pit was great and there was wood already out for our use. It was hard to use the amenities such as the kayaks with different groups there trying to use them. Overall great experience and would stay here again.

Sunrise cabins
This place has a great view of lake Huron. Sunrise was amazing! The firefly cabin has a cute kitschy vintage vibe. This was a nice place to get away and relax.
