:)
Just a beautiful place really. The views. The rooms.
There were some stains here and there. But nothing really that phased us. Was well equipped.

Nice house and place but not clean and very cold and parking was very difficult
Location
Carparking, and it wasn’t clean fan above shower/bath full of dirt that would fall on you when showering. Cobweb everywhere and half a toilet roll on arrival for 6 people. And very cold couldn’t turn heating up no blankets and bed looked like it been slept in before we arrived.

Very enjoyable stay, but with a little effort in terms of cleanliness etc, could have been better.
Excellent location close to the centre of Matlock, comfortable beds, great shower.
Lots of cobwebs in the dining room fireplace and elsewhere, bathroom extractor very dirty, not much kitchen equipment apart from cutlery. We tried to contact the owner on the mobile number provided as, contrary to what we had been advised, there was no garage key in the lockbox. The number was unreachable so we contacted Sykes Cottages who informed us they would look into this and get back to us - this was on Saturday 28 October and at time of writing (5 November) we are still awaiting a response.

This was our first time in a cottage with the family and we all loved it. Thank you to the owners.
Beautiful traditional home good fixtures, fittings and decor. Close to necessary amenities. Would stay there again.
Considering the charm of the property the cleanliness could of been better, it looked like it was a rushed job. I felt that the cleaning company are letting the owners down a little. Cobwebs here and there, kitchen floor grubby, crumbs etc under cushions on the lovely sofa which I would of cleaned before I left but we felt a little rushed to leave as the cleaning company were waiting outside at 9:30am. The quaint individual rattan armchair was in disrepair when we arrived - though usable. One of the light bulbs in the bathroom needed replacing and the bath had a crack at one end towards the top. Oh and a small knife for food prep would be handy.

Large and comfortable, but not clean
House was a lovely size and layout, easy to find, and comfortable for 6 people! We had plenty of space to make dinner for 6, sit comfortably in the living room and all had a good bed. Short walk into town so we'll placed. Overall we did have a good stay and enjoyed our time there.
The house wasn't very clean: the walls and floors were very dirty, the bathroom bin was full when we arrived, the hoover was full and dirty, I had to clean stickiness off cupboard handles and counter tops, glasses were away but not clean so had to be washed before use. It seemed that cleaners only changed bedding and did nothing else.

The cottage was a great location for accessing all the amenities of Matlock.
The location was great for access to the town, train station and Matlock Bath. I liked the old traditional feel of the cottage with it's sash windows and solid wood doors. I think the cottage would benefit from being made to feel more comfortable, homely and cosy however. The kitchen seemed to be fully stocked with everything that people would need and there were even a couple of cookery books on hand if people wanted a recipe for a lovely meal in. There were even washing tablets for the washing machine and antibacterial wipes for surfaces which was a great little extra and came in handy several times. The biscuits and sweets welcome goodies were a lovely thought but the way but they were dated 2021.
The cottage didn't feel very clean unfortunately. We wanted to sleep in the front bedroom but the open fireplace that had a cupboard door resting over it was full of very thick cobwebs that have been there for a long time. This made me feel itchy and uncomfortable at the thought of that and the spiders that may have come out of it during our stay. It just needs blocking off at bottom of chimney level to prevent this. There was a thick cobweb behind the dressing table in the striped bedroom and I would think possibly the same in the other bedroom. There was also a dead butterfly where the window latch was in the bathroom. My socks were filthy in a matter of minutes off the floors and the bathmat was soaking upon arrival - assuming this was washed rather than soaked by a previous guest? Had to use antibacterial wipes on the parts of the washing up rack that we were using so that it felt clean enough to stand washed items on. Heating wise, the towel rail didn't heat up but the owner was aware of this but we were unable to arrange a plumber visit while we were there. The radiator in the striped bedroom is also temperamental - it wouldn't come on the first night, it came on for a bit the second night, and wouldn't come on again the third night that we wanted heat. I felt quite cold at times. The only other thing that I would change is the shower. It's really awkward to use due to its location and the way the 2 screens fold around you in the bath restrict your movement and space. I didn't feel safe in it that way so put the shower on low pressure and left the screens open. I'm just an average sized person but I think a larger person would struggle a lot. I think that a shower rail and curtain would be a much safer and cheaper option going forwards - especially as the shower door to the right has started to come away at the frame which did let water leak out.
