It has been a fantastic stay at Hacienda Cusin. For me Hacienda Cusin is one of the most amazing hotels on the planet: a magic place, a fabulous garden, great food and very kind people working there!

Beautiful historic property in tranquil grounds. Helpful staff , good food great location.
Loved the log fire in our room every evening and the hot water bottle,
There was nothing we didn’t like. Shame there is no kettles in the room.

This place has gorgeous grounds and buildings, situated with the mountains and volcanoes as a back drop and is decorated with beautiful furniture. The food was lovely and ample. We ate breakfast and dinner at Cusin and they packed us a delicious picnic lunch for a hike that was wonderful. Fires lit in our room each night (along with hot water bottles to warm the beds) made it feel cozy and quaint.
With a few thoughtful updates and improvements, this place could be phenomenal. The carpet in our room was very tattered and dingy. The lighting all over the property (inside and outside) and the bedding need to be updated - old world charm needs to have modern touches to be fully effective. There were fees for things like DVDs and for afternoon cookies which seemed petty. They might be understaffed and I think they use a "partner" for some of their hosting tasks.

the hacienda is beautiful and well kept . amazing gardens
the food was low quality . serving Ruffles at a candle lit dinner is unacceptable . specially for the price of the stay

Amazing experience for my family! World class service. We were able to relax on site in safe area and also go on tours easily booked through Cusin.

The bar tender/waiter.
Fireplace in room that is prepared at night
Needs to be refurbished. Very run down. Stained rugs. Old sofas in disrepair. Food is terrible.

I have been all over the world and it is the most special and fascinating place I have ever stayed in. I want to die here.

The old buildings and the fantastic gardens. The horse ride was okay, but finding a better route (more scenic and outside the town) would be great.
Many facilities such as garden tables and rest chairs were pretty old and a few of them broken. The entire hotel will benefit from an investment in new external furniture and painting. The ping-pong tables and the rackets are old, and a bit damaged, Same with the pool table. Our room had a bath leaking problem that made the bathroom floor wet and slippery. We were a group of four and had only two towels in our bath. We had to ask for two extra towels, something strange for a hotel of this level.

Classic Hacienda, amazing grounds, helpful eager to please staff. Excellent well priced food and drink. A little dated but amazing value if you can pass on latest lux stuff (no hot tub or steam room). Would definitely stay again.
Some advice: 1-2 hours from most activities, need a guide or activity company from Otavalo (easy to find online) to arrange stuff or rental car. Reception staff can be helpful as well but probably best to arrange in advance. Luz Maria’s weaving workshop highly recommended.
