The location
The duty manager, Nuwanji, was extremely rude and lacked the basic skills of her role. After being out of our hotel all day, we returned to our hotel room untouched. You would think if a room wasn't cleaned they would offer to clean it in a "world class hotel". After calling the staff, Nuwanji came to the room and to our disappointment stated there was no way the room could be cleaned.
Nuwanji constantly cut me off, spoke back and threw her arms up, before saying she would be at the front desk for further discussion.
After 20 minutes of arguments, I was forced to walk through the atrium restaurant during peak hour with toiletries, toilet paper, towels etc.
The attached photos paint a picture of the stay.
I followed up with the duty manager, Susanna who has been ignoring my emails for a month. I am now following up with IHG directly as the managers at sorrento are incompetent.

Bed, bath location, decor, breakfast
The rate said it included minibar and it was only sort drink and two snacks, misleading. Also the balcony looked out internally without a view, room was very warm, changed temp to lower and it automatically went up again after a few hours making you wake up very hot.

The breakfast was the best hotel breakfast we've ever had. No horrible buffet. There was an a la carte menu.
The breakfast spot was perfectly appointed, service was excellent. The best "breakfast included" experience we've ever had!

Everything, but the rooftop swimming pool is really special.
Nothing except maybe on Saturday night, the cafe downstairs was really busy and we waited quite a long time for our food and drinks.

Everything. The location, the facility. We came for our 10th wedding Anniversary and look forward to returning.

The quality as well as the quantity of the breakfast was excellent. The staff members were extremely helpful and very pleasant. The areas set aside for breakfast consumption were light and airy, very conducive to partake of a relaxing breakfast.
There was no provision for salt and pepper.

Central location of the hotel, decor of the hotel and Audrey's restaurant, great.
Reception staff not very helpful, I had made bookings for three rooms, and lots of issues arose with rooms and arranging payment.
Had much better breakfasts at other 5 star hotels.
Audrey's restaurant was a huge disappointment, including the set menu, $170.00 per head, from waitress spilling water everywhere, missing people out for serving wine, therefore having to wait an hour before our first drink, poor communication from food waiter, service was soooo slow, and the worst of all one vegetarian guest was served deep fried onion rings and spring onions as the main course, which she could not eat. We didn't bother with dessert as we had been at the restaurant for over three hours and we were over it.

The staff were lovely and the main areas of the hotel were beautiful.
Nice morning buffet breakfast with barista coffee included.
Very comfortable bed, nice robes, towels and bathroom products from the Aurora Spa range.
Location is central to the town and beaches.
We found it a tad confusing to get to our room in the Heritage suite and had to ask for assistance, which the team were very helpful with.
Visibility of Sinage could be improved to avoid this as we found a lot of the signage difficult to see. Aesthetics were chosen over functionality in this case.
The parking lot is quite tight and steep in parts and not well signed for exiting.
No chips in the mini bar-- would have been happy to pay for better variety of savoury snacks in the minibar.

The accommodation was great and very clean! Floor staff were polite and helpful.
It was EXTREMELY noisy into the night, pillows were vibrating with the bass past 1am. When we kindly offered our feedback to the duty manager, she was unwilling to apologise and stated that it was just how it is when they have events. A shame for other guests.

I love the green velvet. The bed was super comfy. Pool area was so lovely, would could have been in another country. The conti bar was convenient.
We have stayed here before and sadly it did not live up to our previous experience at all. The little details were not there. It was not worth $750 dollars a night. When you walk into the room the curtains did not open automatically, as they have done in the past. The passage that goes to the Riley wing on level one was very warm. I don’t think the staff were as friendly, in the sense that every time ( when we stayed last time) we saw the staft They would say good morning or hello. I am talking more about front desk. The breakfast was way below par. I can get the same breakfast at a $200 a night hotel. The customer service in the dining room was a bit lacking. We ordered extra food that took ages to come and food out of buffet was cold. We ordered coffees that never came. Dirty plates left sitting I front of us. We have stayed twice now and don’t think I would spend that money again.

The position of the hotel
The room was small. I usually stay at Carmel but thought I would try the renovated hotel. The room was very small compared to Carmel and I have stayed at the Sorrento hotel. The cost was a little less than Carmel but not that much difference and the space for the stay was compact.

It is beautifully renovated and rooms are lovely and comfortable.
The pool area and the day spa are spectacular and the stand out of our stay.
The lifts were too confusing and signage to where things were was not great. Lifts should of been in same area away from dining as you have to walk thru to the dining area in your robe from the day spa to get to your room? We got lost a bit going up and down stairs too.

I like the interior design of this building, gym and pool. Great atmosphere and great location.
but I was shocked by stingy smell in a room and I found the mould on bed sheets. Also, a lot of dust in bed head and coffee machine.

Beautiful setting, lovely refurbishment. Good pool deck.
The high tech room controls need some refinement as they can be frustrating. For example the lighting options are not well programmed, the online hotel information pages are sketchy, the qr code system at the pool did not work. Also there is a complicated swipe system with room pass all over the hotel which is good for security but was not explained by staff. In the morning there was an emergency evacuation which turned out to be a false alarm but the staff response was lamentable and quite concerning.
I stayed in a room with an 'accessible' bathroom which was huge but had nowhere to put towels or anything else really and the shower head could only be used as a hand shower as it twisted otherwise. It would be interesting to find out how a disabled person dealt with this? Also a disabled guest could not possibly have opened the door to the terrace as it needed both hands and was too high to reach. It was also very stiff and heavy. Likewise the lighting and curtain controls were behind table lamps and would have been difficult to access?
The terrace itself was very claustrophobic as it opened on to a narrow lightwell and staff throughway. Not worth the extra cost of a 'premium ' room.

Good location close to everything you would want or need, good onsite parking that was easy to access, nice atmosphere - charming, relaxed and elegant. Clean room, comfortable bed and nice reception staff.
Looked the goods, charged the goods, but did not deliver them. Overpriced for what you get. We were delighted to receive an upgrade from our large king room to a one bedroom suite - until we realised that our spacious room was now two small pokey ones, our king bed was now a queen, our bath tub was now an extra powder room (who needs that when there are only 2 of you), no tv in the bedroom so no snuggling in bed to watch telly - instead you go to the other little room with a tv placed too high and too close to the two uncomfortable chairs to make watching enjoyable. Our terrace was large but dirty, in disarray and overlooked a grim grey nearby building - useless. We should have gone back to reception I know, but I had an awful headache and we were not in the mood for arguing or waiting around longer - you usually get a rubbish room because there is nothing better on offer! Room refresh was offered too late for us to bother with - seemed understaffed on that front. The breakfast was ok quality, but seriously lacking for a hotel of this calibre. Staff were young and generally disinterested, seating was tardy and disorganised and our coffee order took so long we left before it arrived. Dinner at Conti was not much better - we waited with several others at the host station, but after over eight staff walked by and ignored us totally we got fed up asked one of the chefs in the kitchen to sort it - after a bit of rushing about by the disinterested staff someone finally came to assist. Food arrived promptly but was nothing special - overcooked pasta and oily soggy chips.

Staff at the hotel reception and at the hotel Restaurant, at the time of breakfast were very disrespectful, very racist, and very unprofessional towards me.
I was charged incorrectly and I was not even informed of the difference, also I was not provided with a receipt for the charges made to my credit card.
The Reception staff and the Restaurant staff were selective towards the customers because they did not have any LOVE for the humanity.

I like that it is very clean and my room has a balcony so I get to have natural light during the day.
We have a big vehicle so for us the parking seems to be a bit tight.

Pool area was lovely
Rooms were stylish
Breakfast was not great
Pool menu was limited & you should be able to order a healthy salad though this has just been added after my comments to management
Should also be able to order non alcoholic drinks, tea & coffee to pool area

Beautiful new hotel well appointed. Exceptionally clean and maintained.
The staff were inexperienced and often lacking the edge required for an exceptional hotel. Too many young staff without appropriate training. The breakfast was also disappointing. Could do a much better job with breakfast. Also disappointing not to have access to spa/sauna as a guest.

Amazing location in a beautiful building. Aurora spa was excellent with amazing team. Pool area was great with plenty of beds and chairs. Rooms were well equipped and excellently maintained.
Disappointed that we paid extra for a room with a balcony but had a view of the car park. Not worth the money.

Property was divine. Pool area was stunning. Staff are delightful, extremely helpful and make great cocktails. Audrey’s tasting menu was fantastic and so were the massages at Aurora. The room was large, big bathroom and a gorgeous terrace looking into the bay.
The mirror in the bathroom isn’t suitable for short people. Can barely see your face and the lighting is very dim. Pool area bathrooms weren’t clean, I had to run through to reception to use an alternate bathroom. Rooms were a bit dusty, we had an issue with a decanter which the staff rectified and gave us a free bottle of wine. Breakfast could be of been better, given the price you’re paying per night. Pillows weren’t comfortable, the type that flatten and sink as soon as you lay on them.

Staff at reception were amazing and helpful. Lovely room beds very comfortable.
Balcony in the room was dirty. Breakfast was very poor for the standard of the hotel not a lot of selection and we couldn’t even have an omelette only fried eggs. Restaurant conti was not up to standard of the hotel, poor staff not very helpful.

Breakfast was good, location good
Pool deck was not manned, due to lack of restaurant staff therefore no one could order drinks or food. They kept blaming the restaurant saying it was a separate business. Yet they had over 30 people on the pool deck wanting to order food and drinks and no way or ordering- very poor service

Very well maintained property and modern in its own way. The gren and white color combination was so tranquil. Could not use the pool due to a rainy day but it was looking good. Parking on the property is a big plus and well managed.
Carpet in bits and pieces in the corridor, annoying to pull strollers, good to leave it as tiled floors or run a full carpeted floor.

Staff lovely Clean, restaurants pool.
Room 2308 Our room had an adjoining door to the next room which was not sound proof. Could hear their tv and snoring . Which means that they would be able to hear us also which made me feel uncomfortable.
8.0 / 10.0
The room was great - very large, very quiet, in pristine condition and with all amenities. The complimentary mini bar was very much appreciated. We enjoyed our G&Ts and pretzels on the terrace before dinner and beers with chocolates when we came home.
Breakfast offering was extensive and tasty, (although limited regarding cereal and fruit). The Atrium breakfast room was light and comfortable and visually appealing.
The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful.
Finding the entrance to the hotel was a challenge. Signage is poor and from the street the main sign is for the spa. We entered through the front of the old hotel where the sign says Main Entry. Not a good idea as we had to wend our way through restaurants and bars and take a lift in order to reach reception.
We had trouble with the Nespresso machine (we own three but they are all different from this model) and needed a staff member to assist. I would recommend instructions be provided.
Lighting in the bathroom was very poor for applying make-up.
Disappointingly the "medium" poached eggs I ordered for breakfast were as soft as my husband's order of "very runny".
THE CONSTANT DOOF DOOF MUSIC AT BREAKFAST WAS EXTREMELY UNPLEASANT AND DESTROYED THE AMENITY!
