Great stay definitely worth the money
Love the location and the history of the house. Like stepping back in time.
Very warm in the house. The A/C worked well in the rooms they were in but were very noisy. Definitely need a place to sit out in the back yard. No place to enjoy the evening.

Do not recommend! Needs a deep clean and basics missing!
Location, also the idea that proceeds of our stay supported the museum.
The entire place needs a deep cleaning especially the bathroom, floors and rugs. Feels, looks and smells like an austere thrift shop. Sheets seemed clean but the rest of the bedding and pillows were questionable. We ended up buying new pillows and blankets to use with the sheets for our 4 night stay. Basic comfort items are missing: a side chair in the bedrooms, hooks to hang towels and coats. No sufficient lighting or counter space in bathroom to get ready, no decent mirror outside of bathroom. Lots of traffic noise from route 1 starting at 5am. I hope the museum is able to get this rental up to basic acceptable level so it can continue to be a source of revenue. Very disappointed.

Comfort combined with history
Excellent location, with many small local restaurants in walking distance. Comfortable apartment, strong touch of over a 100 years history of the house. Beautiful garden and well equipped kitchen.
Very steep stairway might be an issue for small kids. Proximity of Route 1 makes it a noisy place from early morning.

A very comfortable roomy place to stay, and makes a good central location to visit a variety of area
The place is attached to a museum, and was originally built in 1802. Very roomy; multiple air conditioning units which worked well when it got hot. Located right in Wiscasset, a very quiet village located on the Sheepscot River. Wiscasset is a nice central location for visiting other nearby places (Boothbay, Bath, Brunswick, Damariscotta), and convenient to Portland. The town does not have the attractions (beaches, active waterfront, large number of local restaurants) these places have, but it is easy to visit any of them from Wiscasset. We went to the Maine Botanical Gardens, kayaking in Damariscottia, and on a boat trip from Boothbay, and there are state parks on the ocean close to Bath which are very accessible. All of these places were <30 minutes from Wiscasset,
There are not as many cooking implements as in many places in Maine; so if you plan on cooking for a sizable group, it may be a little challenging. I don't think it would be particularly good for children, since there is not much around it for entertainment they could walk to.
