The owner couldn’t have been more helpful - a lovely lady who looked after me so well, even waking up at 5am to ensure she had arranged my taxi to the station.
Very comfortable bed and a short walk from a local cafe.
Highly recommend

Phenic was a really kind host. Communication was good and she came to meet us at the gas station opposite the property as it would be a little tricky to find the building otherwise. She made sure we had plenty of bottled water during our stay. The apartment has everything you need and decent WiFi and it’s clear the host is making her best effort to keep the place clean.
Although the host is very nice, it doesn’t make up for the flaws, some of which the owner can’t control, but fellow travellers should be made aware before booking a stay here. This is coming from a good and honest place to help others make their best decision. Although a fan is provided, the heat in the room was overbearing, especially at night. AC is 100% necessary. You might argue that the room is only $20 per night but we travelled Kenya and paid way less for larger apartments with a secure compound, concierge, security and all mod cons such as AC. On top of the noise from the neighbours, many crows and car alarms, rattling fan and the local mosque which broadcasts their call for prayer from 4am every 20-30 min until late at night, the heat in the room made it very difficult to sleep and this ruined our stay. My friend is from Brazil so is familiar with hot climates but this room was like a sauna and we struggled to keep hydrated. We had to keep the windows and balcony door open for ventilation but this only slightly improved the situation and we didn’t feel safe in doing this because the building doesn’t have security so anyone from the street can wonder in. The shower has three settings; hot, warm and cold. Unfortunately the ‘warm’ setting is burning hot so we had to shower on the cold setting- this wasn’t terrible, especially because it was the only way to momentarily cool off in the heat! Although in one review where a previous guest complains about the mattress and noise, Phenic becomes defensive and responds saying the mattress is of high density- the mattress is full of ditches and you can visibly see the sagging and indentations from over use/ poor quality so it was very uncomfortable- we are on our 30s with no back problems! The mosquito net provided is far too short for the bed frame so we did get some mosquito bites at night. The old town / Fort Jesus is about a 30 minute walk or 10 minutes by tuk tuk for 100 KS but the area is unsafe.

the flat owner was nice and always very helpful, price (we stayed there only one night) was excellent .People in the entire Mombasa were welcoming and lovely
location, it was in a dirty area, rubbish everywhere on the outside of very dated block of flats, staircase etc was dated and dirty, it did not feel safe outside near the house.I think if people saw the surroundings instead of nice photos of the appartment they would never book it, I would definitely think twice. airconditioning did bearly give any movement of the air, so hot u cannot breath, and in mombasa where malaria cases are highish, u need good mosquito net, ours was not closing properly so we ended up being bled by those insects. but the people in the streets and even in the block of flats were so amazing inspite their suffering and poverty.u will not meet people like them anywhere else on earth.

Phenic is very nice and friendly, communication with her was always very easy.
Equipment of the apartment is sufficient including the kitchen - there were simple things as tea or coffee, and even free bottles of water, which was very nice.
Location is a bit far from centre, but it's easy to take a tuktuk.

the host was really nice
the location is very bad. the place super noisy , I didn’t sleep at all ( Cockcrow, every two hours songs of Muslims, birds outside, traffic) . also the bed was super uncomfortable and the towels dirty .

We were met by the lovely Phenic, who had been really good on communicating with us prior to arrival (we had come by train from Nairobi and then Uber from Mombasa Terminus and arrived around 9pm, so it was really good to have an easy check in). We had booked Peace Nest, but Golden Nest was also available one floor below. So Phenic showed us Golden Nest and we liked it. The little kitchen has a two ring gas hob, fridge, kettle and enough pots, pans, crockery and cutlery. There is a balcony. There were plenty of towels and bed linen. The shower was hot. Lots of toilet paper, soap, washing up liquid, cleaning products, everything. This is a busy area, so don't expect constant tranquility, but it was mostly a very peaceful stay.
It was all fine and we are sure that if there was anything we needed Phenic would have done her best to sort it out.

Everything. Excellent hosts, very friendly and very accommodative. Quick response always. The place was clean, kitchen well equipped, and extra bedding provided. Brand new fridge. Nice balcony with good ventilation. Excellent mosquito mesh on the windows, I didn't need to use the mosquito net at the bed.
Nothing, everything is good.
Maybe just wish the entrance to the building had more lighting (but it's good that the stairs are well-lit).
