Prepare for a secluded retreat, where quiet is part of the bargain! This home was once owned by a Swiss German yodeler, who found that their yodel could echo up to five times due to the area's quietness. That's the kind of quiet you can expect! Take the adjacent, unpaved path, and head out for some lake fun, only 500 steps away.
There's plenty to do in this cabin-inspired home with a limited view of the lake and a beautiful view of the forest (especially from the living room's wall of windows). Enjoy a game of air hockey or oversized Connect Four in the game room. Stoke up a fire outside in the private firepit and spend a great time outdoors. If you're leaning toward cooking inside, the full kitchen boasts a dishwasher, a wine fridge, a French door refrigerator, a breakfast bar, and a double oven to help feed everyone on your crew. After dinner, enjoy a DVD from the library or stream from your favorite service. Central air-conditioning will keep everyone comfortable inside, and there's room for everyone around the electric fireplace at this home. Pontoon rentals are available at Prince Boat Dock (nine miles), Fontana Village Resort Marina (14 miles), and Almond Boat Dock (14 miles).

Friend and family and I booked this cabin months prior and under the listing they said they had wifi which was very important as I magage a home improvement company and had to work during the stay remotely. Once we arrived we saw a note dated for July 2nd 4 days before our arrival that said sorry for the inconvenience but the wifi is out do to a router issue. My issue is they had 4 days to notify me so I could make arrangements for a different place so I could accomplish my work. I lost 2 full days of work. There was zero service at cabin so in order to report the issue I needed to drive 20 minutes to get service and even then could not get the problem resolved. This also made planning very difficult. I have asked more then once for a partial refund due to lost work and inconvenience and haven't gotten a single response and its been 2 weeks so now Im writing this.

Booked this for a family vacation to polar Express in Bryson City NC. This cabin was the cherry on the sundae for our trip. The views are breathtaking and pictures online do not do it justice. Made beautiful memories and will definitely book again!

The cabin is gorgeous and perfect for a large family or group. We had 8. Clean and well kept. The only downside is there is not a lot of easy access outdoor areas. So it really depends on what your vacation goals are!

very nice airy place. easily accommodates eight people and an infant. wifi was good but cable did not work for us. Was able to sign into netflix. some fans did not work and a/c was hard to control. it was colder than we wanted but we were still comfortable. Minor safety issue with the deck.

I loved that it was so big with plenty of room to spread out. It was clean on the inside and the kitchen was very well stocked to cook any meal. It was close to Nantahala Outdoor Center where we went rafting, and the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest where we hiked. The WIFI was fantastic the whole time we were there. My cousin had to work one day and had no problems with the connection or speed. The only thing I was bummed about is that there is absolutely no lake access whatsoever, or if there is, we couldn't find it and there were no instructions in the house how to find it. Also, we spent lots of time out on the deck and it was really dirty. Maybe wash the chairs, knock down all the spider webs and sweep the deck. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

It was a beautiful place everything exactly except one thing
There was no excess to the water like the picture indicated. And of course it rained most of our stay there which is not your fault of course.

Beautiful home in unique setting. Everyone enjoyed this more remote location. The upstairs bedroom with two beds was sometimes too warm for sleeping. I suggest having the HVAC system serviced

This home was amazing! Everything about the home is beautiful !!
There was even Pendleton bedding in the master bedroom.
Getting to it was a little tricky after dark but worth it once we arrived.
I hope to visit here again!!

This house was beautiful! So spacious, clean and well stocked in the kitchen and bathrooms. My kids had a great time in the game room and enjoyed the bunk bed room. As others have said, the drive to the house is a bit nerve wracking so we avoided going out at night. The deck and firepit area was nice, but all the lighters were left outside in the rain and the firewood was wet so starting a fire was difficult. The kitchen has everything you need, but shopping is ~30 minutes away and the roads were under construction. Wifi was terrible..worked in the mornings thrn tapered off and there’s no cell service. Great for an unplugged trip, not great for trying to plan/research any part of your trip. Overall good house for a quick trip away.

Beautiful home with plenty of room and great views! Our family had a great time just hanging out at the house in tune with nature. Only downside was the water pressure not being too good

Although the cabin is great for a family, it is not exactly as advertised. We were a party of 8 adults. The 4th bedroom was an attic converted into an extra room with the entry into the room as basically a ladder, which is not suitable for adults due to the short depth of the steps. There is no TV, no closet to hang clothes, or furniture to lay a suitcase or clothing. The 3rd bedroom does not have a closet either. The listing for a 4th bathroom is inaccurate as it is only a toilet in the laundry room.
The view is outstanding, the sounds of nature soothing, and the roads are gravel which was expected due to the location of the cabin.
I would recommend the cabin but, in my opinion, is not equipped for more than 6 people due to lack of closets and/or clothing space and a 4th shower area.

If you don’t need assistance, then you might be fine at this location but if you find yourself having to contact the property management, they are not going to do anything to help you. We were staying over Christmas weekend and the power went out at 4 AM the morning after we arrived in 4° weather with two elderly family members. And they absolutely refused to have a manager contact me, or do anything whatsoever to help us and they continue to be rude and difficult throughout the process of trying to figure out what I paid for versus what we got.

Beautiful view and just a wonderful home.

You can’t beat the views! And the home was immaculate! Thanks to those before us who left some coffee, popcorn, and some other goodies - we paid it fwd!
We really enjoyed the fall leaves and the fire pit, which we used nightly!
Definitely highly recommend Five Echos.
Arrive during daylight if you can (some twists and turns up the mountain). 4WD would be a bonus but a standard car can definitely make it! The (appeared to be very new) hammock was a plus as well!

Beautiful cabin. Very clean and spacious. If you are wanting remote this is definitely the place.

The house was absolutely gorgeous! Clean and modern. With the view from the balcony/porch we were able to see the lake, mountains and all the beautiful fall colors. As mentioned in someone else’s review, the drive up the mountain to the house is a little challenging and best done the first time in daylight. After that you should be good to go. The home is in a secluded area so you don’t have to worry about traffic on the road with you. We were a group of 4 adults and were very happy with our stay.

Mountain stay
Cabin was great and the owners went above and beyond to stock with essential items needed for cooking. Nice touch with air hockey table. My rating of four stars only is connectivity. Internet is non existent at best. One television didn't work, another had a remote that was not for the TV and no channel availability on the others. Stay was great just understand no tv and connectivity to the rest of the world.

Overall Good stay
Property was well maintained. Getting there at night was extremely difficult as it is all dirt road that leads to the property. There was no light or directions on when to take sudden left to get on the uphill to the property. There is one unpleasant neighbors few exceptionally great ones. A tree fell and blocked the street on the v day when we were checking out. Another neighbor came and cut the fallen tree’s trunk to clear the street

Peaceful and Quiet
Very nice, comfortable home. We really liked that it has 2 bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms on the main level and allows pets - perfect for our family! O, and getting there is half the fun, lol! The property is
in a remote area that involves traveling on a one lane dirt road in the mountains... Make sure you arrive during daylight hours! Cell service is non-existent and the satellite internet is intermittent, which means that the TV is also intermittent. We just decided not to bother with electronics and had a great time playing air hockey, board games and roasting s'mores on the fire pit. It was quality family time in a peaceful, quiet place surrounded by mountains and a view of the lake. A great place to just say "ahhh".

Excellent mountain lake hideaway!
This is a wonderful home, and spotlessly clean. It’s quite a bit larger than I expected. Very well equipped, and in a very quiet, idyllic setting. The echoes have to be experienced! Know that internet and cell signal are both marginal; don’t plan on working or studying by internet here. Apparently it’s part of being in this remote area. We didn’t mind.

Beautiful mountain cabin with all the amenities of home. We loved being tucked away from tourists yet close enough to enjoy all the area has to offer.
This home is artistically decorated, extremely clean and modern. Comfortable beds and yes, an espresso maker for those beautiful mountain mornings. The 12 days we spent there were a perfect way to unwind with our family. We would highly recommend Five Echoes.

Great Stay in the Woods
The property is in great shape. Most of it has been recently renovated. The cabin is spacious, appliances are new, and the location is secluded and quiet. It was easy to reach the National Park, Fontana Lake, and Nantahala Outdoor Center. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We gave this property 4/5 stars because there were a few things that needed fixing or should be in the details. The internet is satellite which worked okay, but if you are planning to work while you're away, this might not be possible here. All the other things were minor and we've sent information to Vacasa for them to fix.
