About this house rental
Enjoy magnificent views from this traditional slope-side mountain home with access to first-class skiing just down the road. The home boasts vintage and homey interior with vaulted ceilings, extraordinary windows with views onto the valley, a wet bar, a wood burning fireplace of epic proportions, a cozy dining nook, a formal dining room, and game room. The exterior features an expansive deck with incredible views.
Downstairs you will find a large entryway and foyer, living room with a massive wood burning fireplace and vaulted ceilings, a fun dining nook, a formal dining room, kitchen, and wraparound deck with views of the valley above and below. The cable car passes directly overhead as you look through the canopy of the giant redwoods that surround the home.
A huge, double-chimney fireplace is the focal point of the living room, but you will be in awe of the floor to ceiling windows that give some of the best views of the valley.
The game room, located on the bottom floor, has a pool table, shuffleboard, and foosball table. The room was actually built around the full size pool table.
The owners have kept the home in its original state and gives guests a cozy, retro ski house feel. We even have a VCR player!
Upstairs, there are four bedrooms. The room configuration is:
- Master Bedroom: Queen Bed, Double Vanity En-suite Bath, En-suite Office
- Bedroom 2: Queen Bed
- Bedroom 3 (Bunk Room): 2 Twin Beds (1 Bunk Bed), Loft w/ Queen Bed (accessible by ladder) - Please note bunk beds are better suited for kids and not adults (a.k.a. kids at heart)
- Bedroom 4: California King Bed, En-suite Half Bath
Facts about the home:
- Four-wheel drive with chains on all four tires is required to get up the hill to the home in the winter months. Please note that tow trucks also cannot easily access the road in winter. If you get stuck on the hill there will be a long wait as either the tow truck company tracks down a snowcat or a neighbor becomes available to assist in pulling you out. Renters who attempt the hill without four-wheel drive & chains may damage their vehicle if they slide off the road. Homeowners and Tahoe Cohost Collective assume no responsibility.
- Unfortunately, pets are strictly not permitted at this property.
- We do not provide firewood for guests.
- During the winter months, outdoor furniture is unavailable.
- This home DOES NOT have AC (like most homes in Lake Tahoe).
- Due to extreme wildfire risk, any type of outdoor wood burning fireplaces, fire pits, or charcoal grills are strictly prohibited. Violations will result in fines starting at $5,000 per Lake Tahoe short term rental regulations.
- This is a smoke-free property.
- If the parking permit is lost or stolen, there will be a $200 fee charged to you after your stay.
Parking at the home:
The driveway can fit 4 vehicles. There is also one spot at the bottom of the hill (permit is required). Please note that we have a narrow entrance to the driveway that can make it difficult to maneuver, especially in the winter months. There is no garage access for parking and street parking is prohibited.

We had a wonderful family + friends getaway for a long holiday weekend at this spacious home. The space was the perfect place to hit the slopes early (ski in/out), come back for lunch, cook homemade meals and (importantly) spend quality time together playing games, watching movies and relaxing. The property management company was also super responsive to our needs during the stay. I would recommend this home and can't wait to stay again!

Excellent spot, ski in ski out is for experienced skiers and riders, it’s a hike if coming from the base. Highly recommended Austin’s home to anyone in the future, and will definitely be back regardless this season.

We stayed at the cable car house for a family Christmas! The location and ski in Out and the features of the home were just perfect for our holiday. The amenities and decor were described accurately and the home had a true mountain vibe with the space and luxuries needed for a family vacation.

Beautiful home, beautiful views, /ski-in/ski-out, but don't count on working wifi on working wifi
House is beautiful with huge windows and views and is definitely ski in/ski out . Nicely furnished and has lots of games. A few things to note: the wifi doesn't work at all so not a good choice if you are planning to work or otherwise need reliable wifi. Also, even during a dry/'hot February, you needed 4 wheel or all wheel drive to get up the road to the house . Once you were are there though, beautiful views.

Amazing Family Getaway in the Heart of Palisades
This is hands down our favorite property of the year, if not EVER. We head up to the mountain very regularly during snow season and stay at a lot of places but this one takes the cake. From the ski in/out convenience to the breathtaking views, and from the well appointed kitchen to the spacious family room + game room + cozy/private bedrooms, this home provides you the flexibility to make memories with family/friends, while getting some much needed rest. To top it all off the owners were so kind and responsive, that you can have peace of mind in your travel to know that should there be an issue, they have your back (we had no issues except for leaving some clothes behind which the owners promptly mailed back to us). I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a family friendly getaway with the conveniences of on the mountain fun! We cannot wait to get back next season :)

The house is amazing. Austin and his group were very helpful.
Everything was great. The hill to get into the place is for real! If there is snow on the ground you do need a 4x4 with chains.

Great home with plenty of amenities!
Excellent location. Excellent communication. Plenty of great games, books, kitchen stuff, and charm. We loved the game room, keyboard, and loft in the bunk room!
