The place was fine, it was better than camping. But i took a shower and reached for a clean white towel. When i unfolded it, i saw long streaks of brown poop all over the towel. Ruined my stay there.

The Virginia Creeper Trail borders the backyard and the Appalachian Trail is a very short walk away. Close to everything in downtown Damascus.
The house is small and the ceilings are low, similar to a lot of old wooden homes in this area. A very nice place for two people. Everything you need is provided. Decor is simple and adequate.

Just what we expected.

If you're going to Damascus to ride/walk the Virginia Creeper Trail, and are on a budget, this is a great place to stay. The guest host was quick to respond and generous in letting us check in a little early, and the house was good in spite of being quite old.Trail access is in the back yard of the home and there are several bike outfitters within a block or two. We went with the closest, Sundog Outfitters, which was very accommodating and had lots of products to enhance your trip.Getting back to the house; the kitchen was well equipped, the washer and dryer, microwave, fridge, TV, AC, and internet all worked well. The bed and pillows were good, though the comforter on the bed was too much. You either had to crank the AC way down or just sleep under the sheet: I think that comforter would keep you warm in an Arctic igloo. The shower was ok, plenty of hot water, but no light so don't try to shave in there. The bathroom sink had so little pressure it was hard to rince your hands, and this is the first VRBO I've ever stayed in with NO bath soap! What?!?The neighbors were less than friendly, working to load an unmufflered truck into a trailer at 11:30pm, but that was surely a one-off experience. And the TP was very good.

We had a great time biking and hiking the Virginia Creeper Trail, which was steps from our door. The cabin had everything we needed and more. We loved being within walking distance of the town and restaurants. We plan to come back again...

Large, comfortable and tidy place to stay. Quiet area that is walkable to downtown. Great parking. Owner communication is friendly and good.
Things the place needs:
Something to wash dishes with- scrub brush or even just a dish rag. Working front porch lightbulb. An internal lock on both doors for added safety-especially single women...only had a code lock on front (that was testy) and a keyed lock in back. Oven mitts. Fix the trickle only of water in bathroom sink and adjust shower to have hotter water than just body temp-other water sources were hotter. Some people use hand/hair towels in the bathroom and there were none. Kleenex. Pillows smelled a little old and musky....maybe some pillow protectors? Bed was comfortable and bedding clean.
Also know the coffee maker is Keurig so pods only if you are bringing in groceries.
I would stay here again and would recommend it. Just needs a few tweaks to make it more cozy/user friendly.

We really enjoyed how comfortable everything was from the bed to the sofa, and the decor was really cute too. The proximity to everything we wanted to do (bike, shop, eat), was great too, we could bike everywhere. We'd definitely stay here again.

Parked in Abington, biked to Damascus then up to White Top. The house was perfect. Clean, roomy, comfy bed, great location. Will definitely be back!

Super cute, clean, seemingly currently renovated cabin a stones throw from The Creeper Trail.

Loved the location, so close to trails and downtown!

This cabin is ideally situated for Va Creeper Trail excursions as it is mere steps away from the Trail, a bike rental and shuttle outfit, a great diner for breakfast and coffee, and a perfect post-ride restaurant.
The cabin was cozy, clean, and had everything we needed for a Damascus/Abingdon weekend.

This house was a perfect location for us - one of us likes to fish and the other likes to bike. We had both the river and Creeper Bike Trail only steps away. The house was spacious for 2 people, comfortable and quiet. Plus it's within walking distance of places to eat. Also nearby grocery store offers many options for cooking in the house. A wonderful place!

What we did like was the location. Walking distance to restaurants, coffee shop, and shuttle all within 2 blocks. Creeper trail in back yard. Bed was comfortable. Space inside was nice. What we did not like was it was not clean, definitely not up to standard. The old musty smell was strong. Only 4 wash cloths. Only 1 mirror in house in small bathroom. The dryer is on closed in back porch and porch is so dirty with spider webs dirt and dust i didnt want to go out there. Smell is horrible. Saw bugs every day and ground hogs living under house. Front porch or back deck havent been swept in months. I swept front myself. For what it cost i would not stay there again.

Spent alot of time vacuuming and cleaning , reached out to property manager 3 times still no response. Bugs, in every room...cob webs and lots of dust bunnies everywhere...clearly not cleaned prior to our arrival

Cutest house in the best location! We had such a wonderful time staying there. Definitely recommend!

The house needed to be cleaned a little better. there was spider webs and dirt in the living room around the sofa and chair as well as in the bathroom, bedroom and kitchen. we like to cook while on vacation, but found the house needed a few extra pots, pans, cooking utensils and maybe an oven mitt/hot pad. It would be great to maybe add a grill as well. Overall the house was great and we would definitely stay again. we loved that it was right on the creeper trail and within biking/walking distance to many places. maybe update the exterior pictures to show the run down trailer has been replaced with a cute little cottage.

We loved our stay in this cozy little home. Everything was clean, all the little details were perfect, and we loved being able to walk to our bike shuttle and all around town.

This is a nice property that is close to everything. It is an old house (as is almost everything in Damascus). But, it has fresh paint, nice living room furniture, TV and the mattress on that bed was freaking awesome! We both slept great both nights.

This home had everything, including all kitchen needs, flatscreen TV, bath towels, pillows & bed linen, full-size refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, etc.. The home is 100 yards from the bike trail and 200 yards to the nearest bike shop. Also, easy walking distance to two restaurants/bars. Be sure to visit the Damascus Diner for the best breakfast ever. The Damascus Old Mill Restaurant overlooking the river and falls is a very charming place for a relaxing and delicious dinner, Oh -- and there's a top ten bike trail that the whole family will remember for a lifetime.

The place was tidy, clean, large space for a one bedroom and fully equipped with every thing you need. But bring soap for bathing. Very close to restaurants and the back yard enters the bike trail. The front you can walk to Sun Dob outfitters in under two minutes.

Perfect spot!
Perfect little quiet cottage. Within walking distance to the bike rental and shuttle for the Creeper Trail. Quiet neighborhood. Can see the trail from the home. Close to cute dining places and a grocery store. Clean and comfortable home! Loved our little vacation!

Great location!
If you are doing the Creeper Trail, you couldn't ask for a better location. Walk to rental/shuttle outfitters, coffee shop, restaurants and a tavern. Cozy little cottage in a friendly neighborhood.

Convenient to everything
We truly enjoyed our stay. We could walk or ride our bikes to wherever we wanted to go. The place was very cute, cozy, and accommodating. The bed was very comfortable! The only thing I wish is that there be another mirror somewhere in the house other than the bathroom. It’s not necessary, but certainly would be nice to have.

Great location!
Great little house, clean & simple. Really good location, sits behind Sundogs Outfitters and easy access to the Creeper Trail. We enjoyed riding our bikes all around town. Everything is within riding distance, restaurants, cafes and Appalachian Heritage Distillery. And Wicked Chicken is the best place for amazingly delicious chicken wings.

Appreciate the responsiveness of Anya. She was prompt to address my requests. But the water pressure for the bathroom sink was very poor.

The owner responded to my request for a few more items in the kitchen. I appreciated it. Overall I enjoyed. The only challenge was the hot water in the shower, which I reported. I feel sure they will address it.
