Welcome to our Character home!
The property was originally built in 1912, has been remodeled multiple times since, and definitely retains its character. It has new furnishings and lots of natural light. Fully fenced backyard backs up to the Kensington Plaza venues. There are a few rooms, and each one is decorated differently. All feature modern décor, bright pops of color, and cool artwork. Our property is spacious and freshly renovated. We recently replaced windows and window coverings, all floors, installed Air conditioning, and working on a couple projects to fully upgrade the unit.
You will find everything you need to ensure a relaxing and comfortable stay.
The unit offers 2 floors of living space, 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and an open concept kitchen/ living area ideal for entertaining/ family time.
The ground floor features a sitting area, TV, a dining space, kitchen with necessary appliances and full bathroom.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, stove, microwave, fridge, tea pot, coffee machine, dishware, pots, pans, cooking utensils, cutlery.
Upper-level features 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom with 2 sinks and a shower/bathtub.
The master bedroom offers plenty of space and comes with a comfy king-size bed, sitting area and a lot of natural light.
Second bedroom features 2 twin beds, a sitting area and a queen-size loft bed with 6" mattress. The bedroom can sleep 4 people in total, the loft bed would be a great fit for kids to play and sleep.
Upstairs floor also features a business/study area with a desk and a comfortable sitting area with a futon that converts into a bed. There's a cot bed available if needed.
The main floor features an additional bedroom with a queen-size bed, and stacked laundry with a washer and dryer behind the closet door. The living room has a comfortable sitting area, TV, books, and games as well as dining area.
Our house is a great family destination, not only for its Kensington location and downtown access to sightseeing gems and nearby shopping, dining, and entertainment venues, but for its family-friendly features. Availability of multiple rooms is a huge asset, along with a crib, playpen, high chair and other equipment available as well as board games, books, etc. Please let us know that you are traveling with kids and any equipment you need - give us 24 hours ahead so we could prepare accordingly.
Its location on Memorial Drive also allows easy day trips into the Rocky Mountains for one-of-a-kind mementos.
The property is also ideal for remote workers, featuring High Speed WIFI, computer desk, numerous power outlets, and most importantly, an easy access to DT or any major roads.
Our spacious house and fully fenced backyard as well as parks around and walking paths along the Bow River makes it perfect place for your pets. We accept well trained/behaved pets. We all know how problematic pet hair and dander can be for pet-allergic guests. Please let us know that your pet stay with you so we could schedule proper anti allergen treatment. The property is well insulated to ensure guests won't be bothered by traffic or street noise.
Parking: There is one car private parking pad in the back alley, right behind the house - no registration needed. Street parking out front for guests staying 2+ days available. We will need to get your car registered, please provide your car plate # and province if you want to park out front. Also you can find some parking at the Shoppers or OJ's parking lots, or some other paid $2 overnight parking in Kensington Plaza, a couple minute walk.
Amenities: Easily accessible walking/biking paths along the Bow River, lazy river rafting during summer, and many public parks. The property includes an outdoor sitting area, barbecue, and patio lights.

This house was perfect for our stay. I can't say enough about the location. There are a ton of things to do within walking distance. You are only a few minutes drive from everything else. The backyard was a great retreat to relax at night. The beds were extremely comfortable and our little one loved the kids room.I would highly recommend this property.

The house is beautifully decorated in a 70’s style, met all of our needs and then some. So much space for sleeping, we had 6 people. Centrally located with a variety of stores and restaurants within walking distance. I would definitely recommend this home!

We stayed at the property April 23-27, 2024. We choose this place mainly for the location, it was close to the hospital where I was having a hip replacement done, and that it had a main floor bedroom. The property is a beautiful older home with tons of charm, and modern updates. The owners did a wonderful job decorating it, they truly took pride in it. The house was extremely clean, and stocked well with everything you could ask for. I was surprised by all the staples that were there from salt and pepper to plenty of paper products, lots of towels, extra pillows and blankets. It is within walking distance to lots of little stores, cafes and restaurants. I would definitely recommend this property, we were very pleased with it.

Stayed here for 10 weeks! Excellent location with a fantastic backyard. Great amenities walking distance from the home. Only concern was the couch needs to be replaced (you’ll sink all the way down) and the staircase is very steep.
Otherwise, I would recommend.

We had an amazing stay at this house. It's in a great location to explore not only Downtown Calgary (directly across the river), but also the Kensington neighborhood.
Maria was a gracious host and responsive and friendly to questions. I would highly recommend this property, it served as a perfect base-camp for our Calgary adventure.

Our stay at the Kensington house worked really well for us. It was spacious and comfortable with a well stocked kitchen. We appreciated the nice Christmas touches and the Christmas tree.

The perfect place to settle in and reconnect with family. The house is clean and comfortable with plenty of room. If you love a relaxed stroll to cafes, restaurants and beautiful tree lined residential streets, you’ll love this place. A short walk across the bridge and you’re on a gorgeous walkway along the river and a stones throw from downtown. Couldn’t ask for a better location.

This is our second time staying at the Kensington location and Maria is such a kind host.
The stairs are steep for our 2 yr old grandchildren but Maria provided us with a second gate which worked perfectly for safety.
The backyard is completely enclosed which was comforting for our miniature daschund.
We love the location and street parking was not a problem along with designated parking at the back of the house.
We will return 🙂

Great neighborhood. Everything was extremely firm. Couches, beds. BBQ a hazard and table could not seat all for a meal. Pros were the hot showers it was clean and neighborhood can’t be beat

The location is very convenient, and the property was bright, very clean and comfortable. All communication with host was easy and we always got a very quick response. Would recommend this location and would stay here again

The place was advertised as sleeping 8. We had kids with us and the loft would have been fun, however, it didn't have any A/C and was essentially a bed in the attic. On the day of our visit, it was a sauna and unusable. The grass hadn't been mowed in weeks and the overall facility was too weird with multiple levels that didn't make sense. The kitchen had very few cookware and we had trouble making a basic meal there. Also it didn't even have 8 forks, only 6. The table in the dining area seats only 4. Patches on the walls were made using cardboard! This property was updated only with paint, covering a lot of problems.

We were in town for a family post wedding party and this location suited our needs. Good space and amenities. Had an initial hiccup when main floor bedroom didn’t have power which also meant we didn’t have Wi-Fi. Maria came over very quickly but couldn’t solve the issue. Electrician visited the next day just before noon. Simple solution but still intrusive during our visit.
Good things - beds comfy, AC very good, shower water pressure good, nice chairs in yard so we could sit out and enjoy birds and weather, primary bedroom very bright and open, good amount of bedding, towels etc.
For improvement - blinds in main floor rooms were bent out of shape and one missing pole to open, grass needed to be cut.
Go to Abbeys for ice cream. Great taste and unusual flavours eg durian fruit and Vietnamese iced coffee. Also went to Trapped Escape Room Room 057. So much fun.
Would recommend to family and friends.

Absolutely adorable little house in a great area. The only 1 thing to note is double check the driving directions to get to parking when you first arrive. The parking in the back isn't as simple as driving around the block to get to the back. It is easy to get there if you plan ahead. I did not plan ahead and arrived in rush hour in a torrential downpour! Learn from my mistake and plan ahead!
Maria is so incredibly kind and prompt and the house is so sweet. I am returning again very soon to Calgary and will stay there again!

Charming house has all the basics for a family stay. Great location easy access to grocery store and lots of cafes and restaurants and boutique shopping in short walking distance. Nice views of downtown. Close to major roads 14 th and Crowchild, 10th st bridge.

Stayed for a couple of nights with friends. The location is amazing. Great view of downtown, walkable to lots of shops and restaurants, and close to the zoo and other Calgary attractions.
We had our kids with us and the house had a great room for them. Host was friendly and very helpful.

We stayed for one night, the house was clean and as described. Check in was so simple, and house was well-stocked with towels etc. One bed needed clean sheets, minor fix. Great location, very walkable- would be fantastic in the summer.

Our stay was amazing in a multitude of ways.
The location was 5star and parking not a problem at all. We could walk easily to Kensington and downtown.
The fenced backyard was perfect for our dog being completely fenced.
Maria our host was exceptional in communication and accommodating our needs.
She even arranged for cribs , high chairs and a safety gate for our twin grandchildren!!!

The location is amazing. The neighbourhood has everything you need from rearaurants, coffee shops, wine stores, and a Shopper's Drug Mart. The house is walking distance to downtown and steps from river trails. The house itself is tastefully decorated and very comfortable. It exceeded our expectations.

This charming character home was ideal for an annual get together of 4 university gal pals and served as a restful home base for our time in Calgary. The Kensington location was perfect for walking, shopping and eating in some great neighbourhood restaurants. Larissa and Maria were wonderful hosts responding quickly to our messages and attending to our needs. Thanks so much for making our visit to Calgary a fun and worry free experience!!

You really cant beat the location, just a few blocks from all the restaurants shops and pubs.
Communication with the host was great, and the house really worked out for our group.
Only thing is to keep in mind this house does not have AC and it gets quite warm in the upstairs, and during the summer it would be very difficult to sleep well in the loft bed.
You cant park in front of the house but there is extra paid parking its a 3 min walk through the alley and its quite affordable during the weekend.

International family get-together for wedding
Having lived for 30 years in Calgary, we were exited with the location of the property. Upon arrival it was pretty hot in Calgary and the top floor area was too hot to sleep. Our visitors moved the the mattress down one floor. No problem. Also some of the windows on the second floor did not close, because the mechanism didn’t work. We only noticed that on Monday, before leaving and had to leave them open. For future guests a few drawers in the kitchen need attention. We enjoyed our stay at a nice location.
