About this house rental
Newly renovated 2 storey house, fully equipped with brand new furniture and beds. The property is right in the middle of Bergerac, in immediate walking distance of restaurants, bars and cafés, bakeries, the main market and small supermarkets.
It is located in a calm street, not overlooked, so you can make the best of the small sunny garden (complete with palm tree!).
The ground floor is taken up by one very large room (40m sq or 430 feet sq) with 3 full length french windows. The kitchen/dining area blends seamlessly into the living area with its 4 seater sofa and armchair - the perfect place to relax. There is high speed (fibre optic) wi-fi throughout.
You can normally park just outside the house, and we have a lock-up garage next to the house (not suitable for very large vehicles). The railway station is 600m away and a less-than-10 minute walk through the old town brings you to the banks of the Dordogne, and the Maison des Vins (Quai Cyrano), our favourite place to have a glass of wine overlooking the river.

Great property which is accurately described in the listing. Excellent communication with the host. I hadn’t realised that parking on the road outside wasn’t technically allowed (which was outlined in the welcome book), but the garage fit our Toyota Verso comfortably.
Would stay again.

We loved our week-long stay in this pretty house in Bergerac. It was a special place, well-located, spotlessly clean, and filled with wonderful artwork and comfortable furnishings. Having the garage space steps away was very convenient. The owners Martin and Gwendolyn were kind and helpful at every turn. The house A/C and fans in each bedroom kept us very comfortable at all times, even when temperatures got into the 90sF.
We enjoyed the many restaurants all in walking distance, and the fantastic nearby cheese shop and chocolate shop (which also had croissants and sandwiches). The cheese shop owner is fluent in a few languages including English and was a delight. She even had our favorite Brillat-Savarin.
Another feature of the house we very much liked were the exterior windows shutter system...like a garage door for windows. This made for nice dark bedrooms for sleeping in after sunrise. We found it easy to drive in and out of Bergerac to see nearby places. Highly recommend a visit to Issigeac--a great market there and two Michelin listed (but not starred) restaurants that are both delicious and easy on the wallet.

The cottage is i
n an excellent location in city centre. Close to cafes and the big farmers market on Wednesday and Saturday.

The property is situated close to the centre of Bergerac within easy reach of all attractions, There is a small garden which gives a good feeling of privacy. Access to the property was easy. There is parking in a private garage within a few yards of the property and, although access to the garage is tight, it is relatively easy. The property is comfortable, spacious and well equipped. Although we did not meet the owners we felt they cared about their guests and were very helpful and friendly by email correspondence. We felt very welcome and secure. Although located in the centre of the town, and maybe not in the prettiest street, it was very quiet. We feel we made a good choice with this property and have no reservation in recommending it to others.

The house was perfected situated, well appointed, modern and comfortable. Our hosts are fantastic. We had a special need while in the area and they were very helpful. We can highly recommend this wonderful home, complete with a parking spot.

This property, in a great location, was ideal for 3 couples who wanted to explore the region. Martin and Gwendoline were extremely helpful and assisted us with information that added to our positive experience. The high standard of fitout and appliances helped make our stay enjoyable. We were close to the old city, weekly markets and transport connections. As experienced travellers, this was one of our best stays.

A splendid house right in the town but in a very quiet street. Beautifully and tastefully modernised, whilst retsining it's old character. Easy access to all the town points of interesr,, but also easy to drive in and out ( with sat nav help!). Garage for necessry parking somewhat tricky but manageable! Martin very helpful and welcoming. Thoroughly recommend!!!!

The house has no view, so if that's important to you then you should look elsewhere. It was fine for us as we were looking for a nice, practical house centrally located in Bergerac. However, the radiators stopped working after the first day, which made the upper floor particularly frigid. The owners had been dealing with a hot water problem upon our arrival so we didn't want to bother them about the heat and made do. Our only real criticisms would be that a scant amount of essentials were provided and we were expected to replace what we'd used. For example, we were given three dishwasher tablets for a ten-day stay, and there were no condiments besides a piddling amount of salt, pepper, olive oil, and vinegar. We were also expected to "leave the house as we'd found it," which involved a lot of vacuuming and kitchen clean-up on departure morning. We were also given one bath towel each while there there were a large number of replacement towels in a bathroom closet on a shelf marked, "Do not touch," which meant frequent washing of towels with no dryer and February weather not allowing for line-drying. All in all not a huge deal, but it added up to give the impression guests were more tolerated than welcome. Our interactions with the owners were excellent, so it was odd that their stinting approach to providing for the comfort and convenience of their guests wasn't commensurate with the personal warmth they exhibited.

A very central location, perfect for exploring Bergerac and the lovely things it has to offer. The house was extremely clean, and with a well stocked kitchen with plenty of plates/saucepans etc. We all had wonderful nights as the beds are very comfortable and the area is very quiet. The garden was great to sit out in for lunch and we were able to do that, as the forecast rain didn't materialise, so we were very lucky. Martin was a super host, being extremely helpful to us, with excellent communication. Wifi worked perfectly. A perfect stay, and we would definitely want to stay here again, if we are in Bergerac another time. Thank you so much for making our stay such a good one :-)

We had a fantastic stay at the property for a long weekend break in Bergerac.
The house is in a perfect location for visiting the town & is very convenient for all amenities including the local market.
The house is great, very clean, comfortable bedrooms, great air conditioning and a fully equipped kitchen. We particularly enjoyed sitting in the garden of an evening relaxing with a bottle of local wine.
Martin was very helpful pre visit with information.
I would highly recommend this house & would love to stay again. A perfect weekend stay!

House was just next to the market. We had a perfect day exploring the market and cooking a meal in the perfectly stocked kitchen. The garden was great for a morning coffee or aperitivo. Highly recommend the stay.

Spent a week at the house and it was everything they promised and everything we wished for our holiday. Perfect location to get about Bergerac on foot and the surrounding area by car
4.9
An excellent location for exploring the area and the town was very accessible by foot. The property had everything that we needed, particularly the efficient air conditioning. Sadly we were not able to use the garden in the evening due to mosquitos and the exceptional hot weather during the day, neither of which the owner had any control over. We stayed in July when the whole of Europe had a heat wave.

All you could ask for.

The property is ideally situated, within easy walking distance of shops, cafes, restaurants, etc. We didn't have a car, but there was enough to do and see in Bergerac, and the railway station is only a short walk away if you want to explore the area. The house is tastefully furnished, with a well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and a small, but pleasant garden to sit in, I would definitely recommend it.

The property was a very spacious and modern property. Very comfortable. Perfect for a couple or a family. Bergerac is a perfect jumping off spot for various day trips. Saint Emilion and Sarlat-la-Canéda were two high points. Martin was very helpful and the house was in good order.

Walking distance to many shops and restaurants. Spacious with plenty of dishes and cooking equipment. We lov d our stay in this beautiful house.

This lovely home is very well situated near the heart of the oldest part of Bergerac and the beautiful Dordogne. We came by train and the station is less than a ten minute walk away. There are plenty of shops and good restaurants steps from your door. Everything one needs for a comfortable stay is available. The sunny garden is a great place for a cocktail after a day of sightseeing. Thank you, Martin and Gwendoline

Spacious well appointed kitchen. Quiet with sunny courtyard and only steps from the cathedral and the weekly market.

The property is well located for walking to the town centre of Bergerac. The house was well laid out and worked well for our family of 4 adults and 2 children.
We did have a couple of issues during our stay involving some excavation work on the road outside. Martin did however do his utmost to minimize the impact.
We would stay here again if visiting Bergerac.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this property. We settled in and felt at ease with all the conveniences from home. The kitchen is gorgeous and incredibly well equipped. We cooked in every evening and appreciated having full amenities in the kitchen, a good selection of pots and pans, and even a salad spinner, garlic press, and juicer. The front yard is charming, we enjoyed dining outside at the bistrot table.
Bergerac is a pretty town, easily explored by foot and accessible to other sites and towns to explore. The countryside here is exquisite.
We hope to come back!

Within walking distance of city center. But, quiet and peaceful. Clean, modern interior, electric shutters. Slept so well. Sat having coffee in the morning looking out at the little garden. Then off we’d go to adventures along the Dordogne. So many things to see and do. Lovely to come home at dusk and relax with some wine and cheese! Thumbs up!

We had a very comfortable 5 nights in the Palm Tree House (note - it is actually NOT in a tree!). The place was spotless and it was nice to have a garage to park in. Good cafés nearby as is the Saturday market. Good restaurants are a 10 minute walk away - especially L'Authentik and Le Bistro Du Coin. If we find ourselves needing to stay in Berg again, we will stay at the Palm Tree House.

Wunderschönes Haus in toller Lage in Bergerac
Grüße an Martin.

You really cannot fault the location of the house. It's a one minute walk to the market (Wed/Sat) and to shops, bars and restaurants. There's a perfectly adequate city Carrefour 5 mins walk. The house is spacious, comfortable, well equipped and tastefully decorated. The only issue I had with the house was that the air conditioning was inadequate for the (admittedly unseasonably) high temperatures of between 36-40 degrees.
