About this apartment rental
Dating back to the 1890’s this traditional fisherman’s cottage with its whitewashed stone exterior and newly refurbished interior, creates an utterly charming family retreat within the coastal town of Porthleven in West Cornwall.
Set just a few minutes’ walk from the harbour and seafront, this is a lovely base for storm-watching in the colder months and sun-filled coastal excursions in the warmer. Offering a ground floor living space as well as two delightful upper floor bedrooms, the cottage, thanks to its original features; feels spacious and airy while at the same time quaint and cosy.
There's also a surprise up its sleeve…a fantastic garden to the back which has been cleverly landscaped to create a large, contemporary outdoor space that's ideal for fresh air dining and for spending time in the sunshine. Cooking is a joy in the home’s modern Shaker-style kitchen where ample worktop space and a range of appliances provide all that guests would need to rustle up a few home-style classics, while the breakfast bar invites morning gatherings where chats about the day’s plans can be shared over a coffee.
Set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and with sweeping views towards Mount’s Bay, Porthleven is wonderfully positioned and offers visitors an unspoiled taste of West Cornwall’s beaches and coastline. Town life centres around its historic harbour and quay which bustles with the activity of fishing boats offloading their daily catches, and there’s an authentic atmosphere of the 'real Cornwall' here, where its historic fishing roots have carried through to modern times. A wealth of award-winning restaurants serve up delicious offerings using the freshest of fish and seafood caught in its very own waters, and for those wishing to curate a home-cooked feast of their own, the famous Quayside Fishmongers is where you'll find some of the best scallops, lobster, Rock Salmon and Wild Bass (to name just a few).
Ideal for families, Porthleven’s three-mile beach is sandy and golden and when the tide is out, the neighbouring beach of Loe Bar is a 2 mile walk away. Nearby the Penrose Estate’s rich farm and woodland make for a lovely day out, while the Lizard Peninsula and Land's End are within easy reach by car.

Well located property within walking distance of the harbour and the local pubs/restaurants. Modernised to a high standard with comfortable beds. Made good use of the garden with 2 sitting areas to make best use of the sun. Always able to park on the road outside, albeit car park in close proximity.

Very well equipped and maintained property. Only shortcoming was complexity of setting up tv service on multiple controls. Would have been nice also to be able to record programmes for viewing later. Netflix downloads were also unavailable on our home subscription.

The Hideaway was ideal for the two of us, plus our four-legged friend. Location was excellent, being only a few minutes' walk to all of the action, while the cottage itself was clean, tidy and very well appointed. It was great to have an enclosed garden area, which meant letting our dog to sample all of those new smells was no problem. We also found that the welcome instruction folder was very good, with detailed helpful instructions. Being able to park virtually right outside was also a major plus. Overall, a great stay.

This is a fabulous little cottage, wonderfully decorated and kitted out, in a brilliant location for exploring the very best of Cornwall. The only thing missing was a sea view, but when you’re such a short walk from the harbour and beach you really can’t complain.

Absolutely stunning property. Extremely well thought out and you can tell the owners have considered everything, whether it be the comfort of the essentials such as beds and sofas to the immaculate kitchen and shower room, to the outside space. We couldn’t haven’t asked for me.
Parking could be slightly tricky but we were there at one of the busiest times of year, shouldn’t be a problem the majority of the time.
Would thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone looking to stay in Porthleven - it’s not cheap, but you certainly get what you pay for.
