We had a group of friends stay and enjoyed our weekend. Location was perfect for exploring downtown Fayetteville and driving to do New River Gorge activities. The house is older and has some quirks but we knew that going in and it didn’t bother us. It added character to the trip. We would stay here again!

Definitely would stay again. Very clean, comfortable beds, eclectic decor which made our stay fun. Our host was quickly responsive to any questions we had . Appreciated the outdoor fireplace!

The house is in a great location so much to do in walking distance. The decor of the house was so cool. They had a s’more basket out for you. Definitely would come back.

Our family of 5 had a terrific time exploring Fayetteville and the surrounding. Many stores and restaurants are within walking distance and NRGNP is a 5 minute drive.
The house was as described and had lots of room to spread out. It’s clean and had everything we needed. The owner was easy to contact and quick to respond.

A great place to stay at NRG. Beds were comfortable, everything very clean. Central air downstairs and window units in upstairs bedrooms that all worked well during the July heatwave. Showers never ran out of hot water and the pressure was perfect. The location is a convenient walk to the downtown shops and right across the street from Secret Sandwich Society. The fire pit in the back was also a nice bonus to have for smores. Will absolutely plan to stay here again for future trips to Fayetteville.

The house was in the center of the town and everything was very close. It is very convenient to New River Gorge and all the activities in the area. Access info was accurate and very easy. All communication with the host was timely and responsive. I recommend this house to anyone looking to explore the area.

House was very convenient to the New River Gorge and walkable downtown. Wendy, the owner, was very responsive to our needs during our stay. Three bedrooms and three bathrooms were a huge plus for our family of six. The kitchen sink is a three compartment sink ( like used in restaurants) is positioned much higher than most sinks so my shorter children got out of washing dishes. There is a small dishwasher available on a very slow shelf. We just prefer to wash dishes by hand. The weather was chilly during our visit so we didn’t use the outdoor space. However the front porch and back patio were inviting. The stairs to the upstairs bedrooms are slippery. Be very cautious if wearing socks! Overall, we would consider staying again if ever back in the area. Thanks Wendy for sharing the home with us!

We enjoyed our Thanksgiving 2024 here. Our group got smaller than we anticipated, just 3 of us, and we were so happy to be in a homey comfortable, well equipped home.We loved the kitchen, the eating area and the comfy den and the great walk to town.

This house in Fayetteville was perfect! The location could not be better. Only a few blocks to downtown with all of the restaurants and cool shops.
The owner was amazing. Only a message away.
The amenities in the house are better than any place we’ve stayed.
We enjoyed the firepit so much with supplies to make s’mores, left there for us by the owner!
This will be my go to house for our future trips to Fayetteville.
Thank you so much! The Cole Family

Historic, colorful and eclectic house in a great location and within walking distance to some fun and yummy restaurants! Comfortable beds and lots of hot water. Property manager was great to work with and answered any questions promptly! Enjoyed our stay.

This property was perfect for three couples to enjoy the national park! The kitchen/dining/living areas were perfect for all of us to gather together and we really enjoyed the outdoor fireplace vibe in the back. There was ample room for all of us to have our own bedroom and we LOVED each having our own bathroom. Wendy was kind and prompt in her communication. She knows a lot about the town and is very helpful with recommendations! There is a Mexican restaurant across the street (delicious) and the property is a short walk to Fayetteville's downtown shops. We were also only 5 minutes away from the New River Gorge Bridge and hikes. Would highly recommend this property to anyone hoping to enjoy the town and the national park in a centralized location!

We had a fantastic stay at this gem! The three bedrooms - each with its own bath - gave all of us privacy while the outdoor space (with gas fire pit), dining area & living room gave us places to congregate. The front porch was our favorite morning coffee spot. We visited during a heatwave and the AC did us proud! We found several wonderful eateries in town and most were within walking distance. We found the local folks welcoming and helpful. Getting to New River Gorge and area state parks was easy from Fayetteville.

The description of this property is absolutely correct- it’s the perfect base camp. We have three adult children and we love whitewater rafting so the location was ideal. The host was amazing and went above and beyond with touches to make you feel welcome. Even my 27 year old twins mentioned they would stay here again!!

We had a great stay at Wendy’s house. We were 3 couples and it was really great to all have our own bathrooms. The house is right in town and easily walkable to many restaurants and shops. Wendy was great, and even let us know about a restaurant that was on the hospital line when it looked like the power might go out (luckily it didn’t). Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here in the future.

This is a very cute house full of retro charm. The location is great, within walking distance of all of the downtown shops and restaurants. It’s less than 2 miles from the bridge. We did the Endless Wall hike, Nuttalburg hike, bridge walk, and the downtown escape room. We’ll be back!

When we arrived at the home it was very clean and ready for us. The location for Rafting/Hiking/Biking was absolutely perfect. 4 min drive from National Park Canyon Rim visitors center.
What we liked:
312 MBPS wifi, 6 plus devices put it to the test and it was up to the task!
Plenty of board games!! It rained and so we spent 2 evenings playing games. So glad they were there!
3 Bathrooms! for 6 people was the perfect amount.
Any dishes, pots and pans we needed were there. Big kitchen, making a meal was fun.
Wendy was prompt and friendly with her communication.
Cathedral Cafe was a perfect lunch spot highly recommend! Stache ice cream after!!
There was nothing we didn’t like so that wraps it up!!
Thank you Wendy!! A 5 star experience!!

This was perfect for our family: it was spacious & relaxing for the 5 of us, convenient to have 3 separate bathrooms, kitchen was stocked with all you need to make snacks/meals, variety of games & books to entertain the family, great location for outdoor activities & ability to walk into town which offers good food (Highly recommend Cathedral Cafe’) & variety of shops! Hostess had special touches & quick response for our needs! We look forward to returning to the High Country House!

Location was terrific to all in the New River Gorge area. Manager was responsive when we called about a sewer smell that was pervasive but there was no fix. Floors were dirty and felt like they would give way in certain areas. Nice washer and dryer. Kitchen sink was not user friendly. Some doors didn't close. Outdoor areas a plus. What's with the curtains on the front porch??

We were in town to explore the national park and got white water rafting. The location was fabulous. We were within a 10 minute drive of many of the most popular sight seeing/hiking trailheads. It’s also walking distance (under 5mins) to multiple restaurants, bars, and cafes.
We did spend quite a bit of time indoors because of the rainy weather while we were in town. The house was comfortable for our group and everyone had a cozy spot to relax and hang out.
While the house decided to have some electrical issues on one of the nights we were in town, the host quickly resolved it and was so easy to communicate with. After a quick chat, she told us to check out the Cathedral Cafe where her daughter works. HIGHLY recommend!

We came to Fayetteville to whitewater raft and zipline with our family. We loved this home for several reasons. First, it had 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Next, it was super convenient to walk to the cute shops and great restaurants in Fayetteville. We roasted s’mores on the back porch fire pit and enjoyed many meals together at the dining room table. We enjoyed the large family room as a family watching TV and playing games. Ice Cream was great at Fat Eddie's and we went swimming at Summersville Lake. There are a lot of great hikes in the area as well. The weather was great! Would love to return to enjoy the colorful leaves in the Fall!

Wonderfully charming house, close enough to everything we needed. House was clean and the host was very friendly. What more could you ask for?

There was plenty of room for our family of 7 and the location was perfect to drive or walk to all the area attractions. The beds were comfy and the patio was great. The home is old so a bit creaky and some quirks with doors and lighting. Bathrooms clean; kitchen could use a good cleaning; washer & dryer good for use. Easy to work with owner so enjoy Fayetteville!

Everything about this place was great. It was very cozy and cute and everything (food, shopping, entertainment) was walkable. Having a washer/dryer available was awesome. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you’d possibly need; even good tea and coffee was available! The host even had a s’more kit ready for us when we got there; great touch.
The only thing we had to buy was soap and shampoo, but there was a Walmart right down the road so we were able to easily buy some.
