Experience a one of a kind stay in Nana’s Treehouse by the Sea. This elevated cottage style, private home is nestled within a lush “old trees” forest preserve on the South end of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Located in beautiful SeaPines is a special place called “Deer Island” accessed by a wooden bridge across the tidal Marsh waterway. Here in this natural space you will find Nana’s treehouse. Secluded from the town, the “treehouses” are in a peaceful, quiet area that feels miles away. Only a five minute walk to Harbourtown, the island’s favorite iconic marina. You will find all sorts of activities in town, including boating, kayaking, shops, Live music (seasonally) & some of the best restaurants on the island. This unique, octagon style home is designed with ceiling to floor glass walls to experience being amongst the tall magnificent trees & nature that surrounds you. Bicycle trails abound here in SeaPines, with shaded trails winding through the trees with much wonderful nature to explore. Bike paths bring you to many amazing & breathtaking sights, including marsh fields with flocks of birds, a wonderful horse & animal farm & nature preserve parks. The beach of course, is close by (One of Nana’s favorite things to do is bike ride on the beach)The ocean is an easy 20 minute bicycle ride to the SeaPines beach club where you can enjoy the beach or listen to live music at one of the restaurants and outdoor bars. Renting bikes is easy, many shops will drop off & pickup bicycles for you. This place is truly an outdoor nature lovers dream! Nana’s Treehouse has a vintage & artsy vibe, with many original features, including a classic style Japanese soaking tub (a wonderful must try experience!) The kitchen is well stocked with cooking essentials, including a new stove & oven. The living room with vaulted ceiling has a comfortable couch & reclining chair, TV/high speed Internet & cable selections. The spiral staircase to the lower level sitting area has a relaxing chair & desk. The lower level screen door brings in the ocean breezes while you read or just sit and watch the deer come by for a visit. A very special & favorite activity! Two outdoor living areas are great way to relax & enjoy the forest scenery. The lower level patio is the perfect spot to curl-up in one of the hammocks or futon couch and watch the deer come by daily. Nana’s Treehouse/cottage by the sea is a lightly rented & owner enjoyed property much throughout the year. This special treehouse is the owners favorite place to be. We hope our guests appreciate our Forest Treehouse by the Sea much as we do! The following is parts from a Letter written by Charles Fraser (founder of HHI) This letter speaks to what this special place means to many of us “islanders” & our grateful visitors Where We Live…By: Charles Fraser “Where we live is the maritime forest, the rural South, the Lowcountry. We are among wild grape vines, palmettos, myrtles, and bay, sea oats and American beach grass, alligators and squirrels, sable palm and live oak, loblolly and long leaf pines. This is a seaside, marsh surrounded, forest covered, sub-tropical, ocean-bathed island. This is not to be an efficient, maintenance free, planned unit development. Here the roads are deliberately and delicately curved to hold the look of the woods instead of the look and efficiency of the boulevard. The light is subdued to hold the night, to give the stars a chance to be seen, to give the owl and the human a chance to experience it. You may have to drive a bit slower and you may have to strain to see the signs but you will have gained more than you sacrificed if you will savor rather than rush, if you will meander and enjoy” ~~~ “We are to refresh ourselves in the vistas and shadows. We are to enjoy the stillness that only great trees and the tallest pines can offer. We are to delight in the whimsy of brightly colored birds darting through the Spanish moss and we are to listen to the rattle of the palm shaking in the grasp of the sea breeze” ~~~ The picture is big and it is one of a place where the spirit of man is restored by its interaction with the cosmos. It is about the refreshment of the body and mind, of rest and challenge, sports and relaxation, visually and chemically unpolluted nature.”

We loved being immersed in nature at the treehouse. Convenient location to ride our bike around the beautiful Sea Pines area.

Really enjoyed our stay in treehouse. Very unique, quiet, and fun to see the wildlife come through. 7 deer in yard at one point. Lauren the property owner was very nice to work with and very quick to respond to couple questions. Look forward to coming back as we come to Hilton ahead several times a year.

This Deer Island treehouse is a hidden treasure. It’s private, but a very short walk to Harbour Town. Sea Pines Forest Preserve was close enough for us to walk to and get in a good hike. The artistic decor in the house is just charming, and the outdoor space has a whimsical feel with beautiful plants, seating and lighting. And the deer! We stepped outside at dusk and counted ten just grazing across the street. Loved our stay and would definitely come back.

The treehouse was perfect for our honeymoon! We loved it!

We loved our stay at the tree house in Sea Pines. We were greeted by three deer within fifteen minutes of being there. My 12 year old son was hand feeding one of them. This was our first trip to Hilton Head and we had a great time. The property is as pictured and we had no issues communicating with the owner. If you are looking for a unique property this is it!

The tree house was just as described! It was the perfect location to be so quiet and relaxing on the deck away from the hustle of Harbor town but close enough for a quick bike ride to take it all in! One of the best stocked houses we have used. The deer were a favorite and we looked forward to the daily visits. Something did keep getting into our and others trash so fyi may need a heavier rock for the top. Renting bikes are a must to see it all. Was a wonderful stay and thank you so much for sharing your lovely house with us!

We loved this treehouse - we're from Colorado and it reminded us of a mountain stay with all of the pines around us right in the middle of Hilton Head! It is so close to Harbourtown and all of the activities/restaurants there and it was so quiet and peaceful - the kids loved watching all of the deer walk by and hear the sounds of the birds chirping. The deck/patio was our favorite part :) We would love to return!

From the moment we pulled in, we were taken in by all the natural beauty that surrounded the tree house we’d be staying at. Once inside, we were amazed at how cozy and welcoming this place was! The photos looked exactly as they appeared online. We were so close to everything the island had to offer, which was a definite plus. One of the many high points of our trip was feeding the deer each day. They loved the carrots and really liked the treats we shared with them on our last day, which were a few slices of cantaloupe! They were so trusting that they took the food right out of our hand, and some even let us pet them. We will definitely be making plans to come back.

The treehouse was exactly as described, had tons of windows and was very clean!
Everything was comfy and cozy and we enjoyed the outdoor spaces a lot.
Great location with lots of wildlife and birds around the property and the house is close to Harbor Town with restaurants and shopping.

Nana’s treehouse in the forest by the sea was a treasure!! Cozy and quiet, impeccably decorated and very well stocked. We had an amazing week! The local deer population will definitely miss our feeding dates.

Perfect location and we loved our week at Sea Pines. Deer Island is so quiet and peaceful but still so close to all the fun. The house was clean and provided everything as promised. The outside seating area and deck was such a great feature and we loved that space!

Great location but….
My wife and I booked this property, received our conformation and then made the remainder of our vacation plans. A couple hours later we received a message that the host was cancelling our reservation. The host then increased the amount she was asking for the same time and put the property back up for rent. She forgot it was the week of the Professional Golf Tournament on the golf course just minutes from the rental and hadn’t previously raised her rate for the event. I know because we rebooked shortly after at the the increased rate for the exact same time. We did this because there weren’t a lot of available property choices that met our criteria. I shouldn’t have to state the obvious but since I believe this is unethical I will. What the host did was wrong, and shouldn’t be allowed. I trust she will pay better attention in the future but should she make a mistake again she should honor her original rate.
We otherwise enjoyed the rental and our experience. By the way the deer really do eat from your hand and the beds were very comfortable.

The house is exactly as it's pictured in the profile. Great, peaceful location amongst the soft whistle of the breeze through the pine trees. Loved the visits from the deer. Quick walk to Harbour Town and easy access to the rest of the island by car. We loved our time there and had a very relaxing stay.

A delightful stay in the woods of Deer Island. This small space was perfect for the two of us. The owner was very responsive to our few questions. Waking up in the woods was a real treat. The deer coming around at 5 pm were also a nice touch.

My husband and I traveled with another couple. The house is as advertised with a small kitchen and comfy beds. We cooked a few days but it is within walking distance to amazing restaurants and only a short drive or bike ride to others. Every meal we had was delicious! We were able to sit out on the spacious deck and enjoy the birds deer and other associated wildlife each day. We enjoyed walking on the abundant trails each morning. We enjoyed the house very much!

The host is justifiably a ‘premier’ host. She was very responsive to any problems, questions we had. The unit was very clean and easy to get to. Location was excellent and we walked to Harbor Town several days each week. And to four restaurants in Harbor Town: Quarter Deck, Crazy Crab, The Links, CQ. All excellent and an easy walk. We also enjoyed feeding the deer, which came each day. My only suggestion would be, because the deck is so comfortable with easy cushions, that renters put the cushions in the downstairs area if long term rain is expected. We did and could enjoy deck as soon as rain stopped— no wait for drying!! The unit is a little small for more than a couple and one family member for longer than a week.

My family stayed in this treehouse during the Christmas holidays 2022. The house was exactly the same as shown in the pictures, but it felt like more cozy and peaceful when one was actually inside. The lovely decorations, lights, drawings, and abundant plants made this cottage unique and alive in the forest! We encountered a bunch of deer a few times. They enjoyed the carrots we bought.
We arrived at the coldest evening among years, and had all kinds of questions about how to setup the internet, the heater etc. The owner was extremely responsive. She not only replied our questions promptly around the clock, but also showed up in person to help. We really appreciate it.
The location was perfect, too. It's convenient to walk to the Harbour Town to watch the sunset and enjoy the good food. Bike trips to the beach and stables were also easy and pleasant. We had a good time during our stay.

My wife and I were first-time visitors to HHI, and somehow, we stumbled upon the vintage, unspoiled Sealofts of Deer Island at Sea Pines / Harbour Town.
Lauren, our hostess, was very helpful both before and during our visit. We happened to visit during Tropical Storm Nicole. After the rains and winds were finished, Lauren made sure the deck and outdoor sitting areas were cleared so we could enjoy them. It was such a nice touch!
This home is just as advertised. It preserves the style and decor of the treehouses, including the original bathrooms. You won't find a Sealoft more lovingly, or eclectically, decorated than this one. The owner's own artwork is something we particularly enjoyed, as were the lovely outdoor areas...the best on Deer Island! We even accepted compliments on the home from cyclists who happened by while we were outside.
We fed deer once or twice, which was a lovely thing. I imagine better weather would have seen us doing this daily. Be sure to grab a bag of carrots from the Piggly Wiggly on the way in.
We picked up some staples for light breakfasts and lunches, but we chose not to attempt cooking a full meal in the tiny kitchen. But we were able to preserve and reheat some leftovers, and it was perfectly functional. Maybe the only upgrade I might suggest is a bigger coffeemaker, but even that isn't necessary, as you can just walk, bike, or drive over to Harbour Town Bakery.
We found hidden treasures tucked away, like a vintage 1962 card game called "Flinch." We enjoyed it while hiding-out from the storm. Throw in the views, the peacefulness, the walking / biking trails, and the proximity to Harbour Town, and you just can't go wrong. Book it while you can!

We loved our stay in this tree house. We have many beach vacations and wanted something different. This was such a unique treasure, and still close to the beach. Felt like we were in a mountain setting- peaceful, quiet. We loved the large patio/deck. Dear were there to greet us. There is a weekly fee to park there. We did rent a car- so we could enjoy the island. Tye bathrooms are small. There are also steps. We loved the decor, the hosts were beyond sweet and helpful/kind. We loved every min of our stay.

We knew as soon as we arrived that this treehouse by the sea was the perfect getaway for our week in Hilton Head! Beautifully decorated and the kitchen had most everything we needed! Saw deer every day, loved the tropical woodsy setting! Highly recommend.

It is a glass treehouse. It is like a geodesic dome on stilts. The property was clean and decorated nicely. You are in the Marsh lands and the beautiful Hilton Head Island. The location is perfect. It is close to everything. I would of liked to have information about renting bicycles. Other than that, I recommend this property.

Perfect spot for birding, fishing and biking. Beach or swimming is not convenient, if that’s what you’re looking for. Also know that this is an adorable but non-traditional lodging set up. Meaning kitchen and bathrooms are very small. But the very cool treehouse is nestled in the trees with daily deer visits. Bikes are a must ,in our opinion. We road ours to South Beach, Harbour town and just all around everyday and loved it. We caught fish and saw so much wildlife. We never left Sea Pines after we arrived because we were so busy with activities. Thank you for hosting us and helping answer all our questions during our visit.

Our host was always available to us. The house was darling! From the minute we pulled in to the sad minute we drove away it felt like home. It was easy to get around by bike, trolley or car. The flora and fauna surrounding the house was magical and serene. We loved it!

Fantastic family vacation destination
Our family of four (2 boys ages 12 & 9) had the most exquisite time in Lauren's treehouse. Everything was as-advertised, if not better. We had no knowledge of Sea Pines before our arrival and were so pleasantly surprised to discover all of the fabulous amenities within the gated confines of this beautiful development. The endless miles of bike paths made for a terrific way to get around to all the various restaurants, beaches, shopping, etc. We heeded Lauren's advice and rented bikes for the week . . . best decision ever. The white tailed deer on the appropriately-named Deer Island were so cool. We bought carrots and the boys fed them daily by hand. By the end, we had named some of them and really grew attached :-) My husband fished off the small bridge between Harbour Town and Deer Island and had a blast. Be sure to bring your bug spray. Regarding the house, it is small, but functional. Lauren has it well-stocked with all the creature comforts you would expect. We didn't utilize the kitchen much, as it is small and there is no dishwasher, but that was our choice - - you absolutely could. The linens were clean and beds were relatively comfortable. Plenty of hot water and good water pressure. The air conditioning that pumps throughout the home was fantastic and gave us much relief from the muggy outdoors. All in all, we had a truly magical time. Thank you, Lauren!

Magical Paradise
It was everything I was hoping it would be! Incredibly charming. It was very clean and stocked with everything we'd need. The owner was a delight to work with. One of the best vacations we've ever had. We are grateful for the treehouse by the sea experience. I will definitely be visiting again and my Sister & Niece already booked it from my pictures and experience.

Perfect Vacation
Loved the place. It is so relaxing in that neighborhood. For us (we are out of shape) it was a little to far to bicycle to the beach but if you go before 7 am or after 4 pm you can park at sea pines beach club, and there are hardly any people there during those times! If you want to go during peak hours just catch the trolley over in Harbortown. Make sure you bring bug spray with you for the island in general. There are tons of dinning options on the island we didn’t have a bad meal at any of the places we went to! Salty Dog Cafe is a must in south beach marina! This has been the best vacation we have had in a long time and will definitely be back again!

Treehouse by the beach
I booked the treehouse to celebrate my daughters graduation from high school, and it exceeded our expectations. It was the perfect mix of excitement and relaxation! The treehouse was peaceful and quiet, but our favorite part was being so close to nature. The treehouse was beautifully decorated and comfortable. It is the perfect place to write a novel, paint, or just wrap yourself up in one of the treehouse swings to read a book while reconnecting with nature. We were so close to the wild deer and will have photos and memories to last a lifetime. I spent 10 years working in veterinary medicine so animals and nature are close to my heart. The treehouse is close enough to Harbor Town with all of its excitement, but far enough to enjoy your solitude. The beach is a pleasant bike ride away, with many areas to access it on bike. Bikes are a huge must to get around this area with ease! Cannot thank Lauren enough for allowing us to stay here for the week to celebrate and connect!! Will definitely visit this treehouse again to take the much needed break from corporate life 😄
