We needed a temporary place to stay while we had work done on our house. This place was perfect. It had all of the amenities we needed and we felt right at home. We would stay again in the future should the need arise and would recommend to anyone needing a pet-friendly house with off street parking in a convenient location.

We stayed at The Butterfly House when to attend a show at Avondale Brewing. The house is perfect with a fenced in backyard. The neighborhood is very walkable. We will definitely stay here again.

My wife and I took a weekend getaway to Birmingham to visit local Farmer's Markets and restaurants. We looked for a place to stay close to down town but also accommodating and safe. The Cheerful Avondale Bungalow fit us perfectly. It's located in a well established, cute neighborhood within walking distance to the Avondale downtown streets and the Avondale Park. We took advantage of the park both days and walked around the pond and ballfields, very nice. Getting downtown B-ham or up the mountain to Mountain Brook area was a breeze, everything was like 5-10 minutes away. Our hosts communicated with us before we arrived and we felt very comfortable reaching out to them if needed. The house had all we needed, nice spacious kitchen, very clean throughout, nice fenced in backyard.
Overall our stay was wonderful, and at this proximity it was a perfect "base" for us to do all we wanted to do.
We would definitely stay here again and refer others.
Thank you Britt and George!

The Butterfly House is a beautiful home that is well appointed with lots of little details that make you smile. We loved our stay and enjoyed the proximity to the Avondale entertainment district. Great too to have off street parking and a super large back yard for the pooch…
Will be back for sure…

It was excellent. Very peaceful

Very thoughtful touches and ease on all. Train noise a bit loud, i would place noise machines in bedrooms to assist with that.

We stopped overnight on our way through and it was such a great spot. Darling house, great amenities including coffee and creamer, kid and baby items, and a super comfy master bed. My only suggestion might be some black out curtains in the master since there aren’t blinds. Lovely stay!

Lovely house in a quiet neighborhood near Avondale park, shops and restaurants. We really enjoyed sitting on the patio in the morning and evening.

House was very cute. Loved the looks of the kitchen. The shower head or water pressure sucked. The plastic mattress cover made noises when I moved in the night. And it made for hot sleeping. Went to put linens in washer as per rules but there were sheets in there.

We were in town for a baseball tournament for my 15 year old son. This house was perfectly located between all of the fields. The house was very clean, very well stocked with all we would need and it fit the description on website. It was so great! Only negative was trying to back out of the driveway with all the cars parked on the street and that wasn’t even that bad. Would stay again!

We have stayed at Britt’s home before. Both homes are our go-to places when we travel to Birmingham. The home is in a cute, quiet neighborhood in the Avondale area. Lots lol of essentials. A comfortable home. Easy communication with Britt.

The pet hair everywhere was my biggest negative impression. It was on the sheets, pillows, towels... I don't expect a home that allows pets to be pet-hair-free, but I do expect the things that are washable to be clean.
Second biggest negative impression was that I didn't feel like a guest. Things were not folded nicely or organized or set up in a welcoming way. The sheets were wadded up in the linen area and the extra pillows were thrown carelessly into closet shelves. Some of the towels we pulled out to used were ratty, stained and torn. Bottles of soaps and other half-used items were just higgledy piggledy strewn in the bathroom shelving. There was a house number sign laying on the kitchen countertop in front of the coffee maker, presumably awaiting someone to glue its loose number back on.
My third negative impression after climbing into the pet-hair covered bed, was hearing the railroad train every night until midnight. The tracks are several blocks away, but unfortunately, the horn is still very loud and one was blown about every 10 minutes.
I would only recommend this place if you have pets staying with you, you don't mind feeling like you are staying at your buddy's house instead of paying to be a guest at a VRBO and you bring earplugs.

This cute little house was conveniently located within walking distance of Avondale Park and a few trendy bars off 5th Ave. Most of the stuff we wanted to do was a short drive away. The neighborhood has a nice old feel, with hilly meandering side streets and Tudor-style homes. We liked that there was a carport and driveway, but be aware that it's a tight fit for anything bigger than a sedan. The house itself was cozy and neat. We really appreciated such amenities as a washer and dryer, ice maker in the freezer, coffee maker, microwave, ceiling fans, closets in the bedroom, and enough kitchen equipment to prepare a real meal. Guests coming here should be aware that grounded power outlets are sparse. We were working remotely and ended up buying a power strip and extension cord. Also the water pressure in the shower is pretty low. The owner / property manager Brittany was very responsive and friendly! We were happy with our stay there, and would do it again!

We met our son for a weekend in Birmingham and enjoyed this property and the wonderful, walkable neighborhood very much. The fenced yard was a plus for our pups, the house was clean and felt safe. and the kitchen was adequate for us to eat in. There were a few small issues that were disappointing including the fact that the curtains did not quite close, the bathroom sink drained extremely slowly and the page of instructions directing us to empty the garbage, wash the dishes, strip the beds and start the laundry were a surprise, especially considering the generous cleaning fee.

stayed a second time first was in july. this time the property wasn’t as clean as it was last time, the bathroom looks like it skipped over cleaning & the sink in bathroom filled up while trying to run hot water and took a while to drain. only a half roll of toilet paper left for the weekend. other than that the property was fine.

Perfect for Us!
My son, his wife and I were in Birmingham for the World Games 2022. Not only did we have a great time at the games, we feel as though we found the perfect spot for us at a great rate. This property is in a nice, quiet established neighborhood within easy walking distance to Avondale Park where the WG Archery competition was held and where you can find some nice local restaurants, bars, coffee, etc. The bungalow itself was very clean, well equipped, comfortable and nicely updated with plenty of space for the three of us. I believe they allow pets but you would never know it. Britt was very pleasant to work with and very accommodating. I would absolutely stay here again if I'm ever in Birmingham in the future.

Everything as advertised
Great location close to downtown and the popular Lakeview area. The home was a classic but freshly upgraded. I also liked the fenced in back yard if you have younger kids or a dog. I will be back when I am in town since it is competitively priced versus a hotel.

Stellar property
My daughter and I booked this property for one night for the Billie Eillish concert. We wish we had time to just sit back and relax and enjoy the house but time didn't permit. This house was the best. It was very clean, cute, and stylish. I will definitely book it again. The owners are amazing as well!

Just ONE night
Loved this little house. It is perfectly quaint and in a nice older neighborhood. We only stayed one night after driving from Oklahoma City to Birmingham. The drive unexpectedly took us almost 12 hours of driving with pitstops and such. WE WERE EXHAUSTED by the time we finally showed up here. We got in about 9pm and it was dark. We were tired, stressed beyond belief and ready to lay our heads down and let our two little dogs stretch their legs in the fenced back yard. We get out of the car, and immediately hear a VERY LOUD CONCERT. The entire neighborhood could hear it. We were stunned. However, the house has fantastic windows that drown out the sound. The concert was over by 10pm thankfully. The yard was perfect for our little dogs to stretch. Neither my husband, myself or my 76 year old mother who is traveling with us is a "tech" person. We had no idea how to turn down or turn off the heat/thermostat. It's a NEST system or something like that. We were clueless. Either way, the owners were gracious enough to do it remotely while we were stressing about the temp in the house when we arrived. VERY GRACIOUS hosts. We were able to take a breath and just enjoy the place for the night getting a good night's sleep. This house is exactly how I pictured sweet southern hospitality and quaintness. I would own this house if I lived in Birmingham, that's how much I loved it and the neighborhood. Drove to Whole Foods, which was actually quite a distance away for coffee and danish the next morning before we hit the road again, came back and ate at the house. Totally recommend. Would change 1 thing - but this is just us - TV's in the bedrooms. We like to fall asleep watching TV and so does my mother. You can never have too many TVs. Thank you for putting us at ease with the stress of this cross country move even if it was just one night.
