About this house rental
A three bedroom townhouse that was built in 1855 in a row house named Bauer Terrace. Bauer Terrace is a registered heritage property because of its architectural significance. The townhouse is just 15 mins walk to the Halifax Waterfront. It is located in what is planned to be a heritage-controlled area, one block from Citadel Hill and the Halifax Commons known as Creighton's Fields - a trendy urban residential neighbourhood, which is diverse, friendly, colourful, generous, and accepting of others.
The house is very warm and bright and features 11-foot ceilings with period trim, mouldings and light fixtures on the main level, a well-equipped kitchen and three bedrooms on the second floor. There is a small desk and office chair on the second-floor landing as well.
The whole house is open to our guests and exclusively for your use. Parking is available (for one car only) around the back, on the corner of Bauer and Falkland Street.
We don't typically meet our guests on arrival as access to the townhouse is by a keypad deadbolt but we live close by and we are available to orient or assist you as needed on arrival or during your stay.
This surrounding neighbourhood has many fitness resources (Outdoor roller/ice skating oval, Olympic size swimming pool, bouldering cafe). There are lots of good cafes and restaurants nearby. There is a craft brewery, artisanal delicatessen, and many artist-run galleries and shops nearby. And nothing in downtown Halifax is more than a comfortable walk away so the list of things to do includes deep-sea fishing, whale watching and sailing cruises on the Halifax Waterfront, theatre, live music, pubbing and clubbing in the downtown and lots of shops and restaurants catering to a wide range of interests and tastes. Halifax is home to six universities and so has a large and vibrant student scene (closest is NSCAD our fine arts university - so many artists reside in the area).
The train/bus station is a 25-minute walk away but there are several city bus lines passing on Gottingen Street (a couple of minutes walk away) and the airport bus stops at nearby hotels (~10-minute walk). Casino Taxi and Yellow Cab are usually very quick to pick you up from the house to get where you need to go. Uber is also available.
We have very good high-speed WiFi (327 Mbps download/12 Mbps upload) throughout the townhouse. There is a washer and dryer located on the main level under the stairs. We don't have cable TV but we provide access to Netflix. We provide towels, bedsheets and blankets, kitchen towels, toilet paper, soap, shampoo and all cleaning supplies.

Wonderful home away from home, with charming character! The hosts were great too!

Great location, friendly management, comfortable and warm. Note that the bathroom is not on the same level as the bedrooms, so may be a problem with young children and the elderly. Would happily return for another visit.

We were amazed by how clean the place was! This place felt very homie in a quiet area of town but very central. The hosts were wonderful and easy to communicate with, they gave good recommendations and checked in on us via messenger during our stay! The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfy. There was more than enough linen provided (beddings, towels, etc..) and the house was filled with everyday items (kitchen supply, bathroom supply, first aid kit, etc..). Would definitely stay here again!

We loved that we could walk to the harbor front and avoid the parking fiasco during a fun weekend of food festival and gorgeous weather (so everyone was out!). We also walked to the local bakery and to grab a quick bite. Loved the parking for our rental car. Beds were comfy and the kitchen well stocked for cooking, coffee etc.

The townhome is very well equipped and ideally situated for exploring downtown Halifax. We hardly used the car during our stay as everything we wanted to see and do in Halifax was in easy walking distance. Kevin and Catherine are very attentive hosts and made sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommended and definitely on our list for a return visit in the future (hopefully with no hurricane).

Great home in the BEST location in Halifax!
My husband and I spent 3 weeks here with our 3 young kids on vacation. It was *fantastic*. I dare anyone to find a better location in Halifax! It is just perfect -- right across the road from the Commons, the Citadel, the Emera Oval (which the kids adored), a great skate park. Walking distance to absolutely everything -- the waterfront, the ferry terminal, downtown, almost any museum or gallery you'd want to see, great restaurants and cafes.. It's a short and easy bus-ride to the Hydrostone and the Pier. We did not rent a car and literally never took a single taxi/uber in 3 weeks. We walked and took the city bus everywhere! The home itself is *way* nicer than the pictures on the listing! I was kind of bracing myself for a pretty run-down place but it is so lovely and charming and way more spacious than the pictures made it appear! The neighborhood is also amazing. Again, the photos just do not do it justice. It's a simply gorgeous tree-lined streets with beautiful, colorful historic homes. The hosts are incredibly kind, helpful, and generous. (Thank you, Kevin, for everything!) I obviously could rant and rave endlessly about how much I loved this place but, suffice it to say, we will be back!

Great spot to stay and explore Halifax. Right next to the Citadel and an interesting neighborhood with possibly the best restaurant in Halifax (Edna). LF Bakery is one block away.
