Welcome to Proteus. This beautiful and classically designed Greek Revival home features unobstructed views of the Gulf of Mexico and the luxuries of beachside living. Located just steps from the town center, there is easy access to dining, shopping, bike trails, tennis and pickleball courts, work out facilities and three swimming pools. Proteus provides the perfect escape to truly experience the grandeur of beachside living while bringing out the sea god in all of us.
DETAILS
Proteus accommodates up to eight guests and is conveniently located in the heart of Seaside. Entering the home on the first floor, you will find three bedrooms and two baths. The master suite offers a king-sized bed, tv, porch access, and ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower for two. The second bedroom includes a queen-sized bed, porch access, and tv. The third bedroom has a full-over-full bunk bed and tv. At the back of the first floor, there is a large screened-in porch with Adirondack chairs providing a great spot to relax and take in a good book. Here you will also find a laundry space with a side-by-side washer and dryer.
Walking up a stunning spiral staircase to the second floor, you will find an open entertainment and dining area that share grand views of the emerald coast. An additional bathroom is also located on this floor. The living area has ample seating, beautiful décor, and a Smart TV. You will also find a fully equipped galley-style kitchen featuring a Wolf gas range and convection oven and a Sub-Zero refrigerator, suitable for any culinary endeavor. There is additional dining and Adirondack chairs on the second floor’s covered deck. This spacious porch is the perfect place to dine with friends and family or just relax while enjoying the soft sounds of waves crashing onto sugar-white sand.
On the third floor of the home, you will find a breathtaking 360-degree view of Seaside. This Greek temple inspired room contains floor to ceiling windows on all sides. Encased in this windowed observatory is a desk on which to work, as well as a sitting area perfect for an early morning coffee. From there, you can step out onto the wrap-around sun deck to see unobstructed views of the sunset every evening, complete with tall Adirondack chairs and sun lounger.
Outside, there is parking suitable for two vehicles. In the back, there is an enclosed outdoor shower convenient for days spent relaxing in the sand, as well as a charcoal grill to expand your dinner options. Guests are welcome to use the four beach cruiser bicycles for ease of transport or taking a ride on the numerous scenic bike pathways. Beach access is located directly beside the home. You will also have access to Proteus’s adjacent gated lot where you will find a private pathway which leads to Adirondack chairs overlooking the beach while being surrounded by a magnificent coastal scrub ecosystem.

Proteus is a beautiful home in a perfect location! Our family of five had an amazing time. The owner went out of her way to make sure we had an awesome stay. We highly recommend it and will come back to Seaside.

We loved our stay here! We were greeted with a thoughtful gift bag which was so nice of Charlotte to give. The house was clean and accommodating to everyone's needs. Very close to restaurants and shops. The beach access was right in our backyard which my older parents loved. The house supplied plenty of beach chairs, umbrellas and children's beach toys. I've stayed at other rentals that didn't have the basics for cleaning up but this house did. You don't need to worry about dish soap, laundry soap, and coffee. I found that to be a really nice simple bonus.
We had 6 adults and 2 children in pack in plays. The kids were under two and I was concerned about baby proofing. The doors of the cabinets were not easily opened by them. Nothing was in the lowers to be too scared about. I was able to zip tie a baby gate to the living room stairs for safety and easy removal which totally worked.
My family is already talking about coming back again!

7 days, two adults with three teen/young adult children. Amazing location. Walk to beach, walk to pool/tennis. Walk to town center, shopping and food trucks/restaurants. Plenty of towels, beach toys, kitchen stuff, bicycles. Even supplied coffee for the keurig. Host very prompt response to questions. Porch views and seating outstanding. The hidden 2 Adirondack chairs on the dune are wonderful .Highly recommend!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Proteus. Charlotte was very prompt in any question/concern that I had. VERY short walk to the square and the beach. I wanted a house that we could see the ocean and this was the perfect location.

We had the most amazing time in Seaside at Proteus. The house is absolutely beautiful with so much attention to detail. Charlotte has thought of everything to make your stay easy and comfortable. The beach access is so close and convenient as is access to shops and restaurants. We would love to stay here again!

Our family recently concluded our stay at the property. We carefully selected the property based on the reviews from prior travelers and our stay did not disappoint! The home is spectacular - tastefully and comfortably furnished, clean, and bright. The beds and linens were luxurious. There were plenty of crisp-clean fluffy towels, plenty of kitchen equipment for our stay, and lots of extras that we took advantage of daily - beach toys, chairs, beach towels, etc. The host was incredible - very responsive, kind, and, welcoming. You can tell the host put a lot of thought and detail in creating a carefree and enjoyable vacation experience for guests. The check-in and check-out instructions were so simple we had to do a double-take. The home's location is in the heart of Seaside yet quiet enough to enjoy a peaceful evening. The property accommodates a 360 view, which includes a big portion of the town, ocean as far as the eye can see (including dolphins), and very comfortable and quality patio furniture to enjoy meals / lounge. The home has an outdoor shower and immediate access to what I consider one of the best pavilions (private, well-maintained, and equipped with several bathrooms, showers, and leading directly to a stunning beach). We are grateful we found this host and property and can't wait to return.

We have stayed in the 30a area 5 times now and this property is absolutely amazing. The hostess is so responsive and accommodating. Wine and snacks were waiting on check in and there were no extra clean-up expectations on check-out. Bikes, beach umbrella, towels, grill, etc. etc. Easy beach access. Beautifully secluded "back yard" with chairs to relax in. Crow's nest view is amazing. Leisurely walk to the square or to the fitness/pool/tennis amenities. This place is a gem.

We were very happy to be staying in Proteus. The location of the house is so close to both the beach and the heart of Seaside. The house itself was immaculate and stocked with everything we could want for a week at the beach. Charlotte was the most responsive and thoughtful host.
The views of the beach and the ocean from the top deck are amazing and we spent many an evening enjoying the 360 degrees sunset views.
We definitely want to return to this fine house.

This was a trip with 2 moms and teens. It was the perfect setup. Bedrooms were good size. Layout was reverse layout so bedrooms on the bottom, which was great to not have to tote luggage upstairs. Den and kitchen were on the second level so you could see the beach. I loved the little area on the third floor. It had a quaint sitting area and there was outdoor seating out there. This is where me and the other mom hung out and the teens took the den. It gave us both a space so that was nice.
The location to the center of Seaside was perfect. Even though the house came with bikes you could easily walk to the restaurants and shops there and also to Watercolor. The house is also located to the Seaside beach entrance so it was very easy to get to the beach.

What a wonderful stay at Proteus! The home is beautiful, and the location cannot be beat! You are just steps away from beach access and a quick walk to the Seaside town center. We stayed with two small children (ages 5 1/2 and 2 1/2), so location was key for us!
The home is beautiful and was stocked with everything we could possibly need. The views from the home are stunning, and we loved watching the sun set from the lookout point.
The beach area in front of the property never felt crowded - which is saying a lot since we went during peak season.
Lastly, Charlotte is an AMAZING host and was incredibly communicative and always quick to respond.
We plan to make this an annual trip, creating memories as our girls grow, and we look forward to future stays at Proteus! THANK YOU, CHARLOTTE!!!

If you have any concerns, trust me just book this home. The best rental I’ve ever stayed in. The location absolutely cannot be beat as it’s RIGHT next to the private Savannah Pavilion. We were traveling with young children, so the ability to walk to and from the beach for lunches/nap/to cool off was a game changer. It is also a 2 minute walk to all the Seaside shops. The beauty of this house cannot be beat, truly one of the most beautiful homes with breathtaking views from every room/deck on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Charlotte is the best host I’ve worked with. Behind sweet, attentive, and wants you to enjoy every minute of your stay. It would be a privilege for anyone to snag a week at Proteus! THANK YOU, Charlotte!

From the moment we booked this home for our beach vacation, Charlotte, the owner, was so very accommodating making sure all questions were answered immediately. When we walked into the home, we were welcomed with a basket of savory snacks and wine which made us realize we knew the tone was set for the week. The beautiful home was stocked and over stocked with every imaginable items needed for our visit. The attention to detail of the home and the immaculate cleanliness had us in complete awe. With 5 of us sharing the home there was plenty of room and the teens loved the access to the town square and access directly to the beach. We loved sitting on the 3rd level enjoying the waves rolling in, watching beautiful sunsets and reading novels. We really can’t say enough about our visit except to say when we come back this is where we want to stay!

Proteus was as gorgeous in person as it is in the photos. The house looks to be straight out of a magazine with high end, unique features and fabulous decor everywhere you look throughout the bright and airy house. Though small, every detail of this home was well thought out, with tons of built-in storage in every room, including drawers built into the beds and closets big enough to store suitcases. The home was very comfortable for 6 of us. It even smells amazing! The location cannot be beat, with beach access immediately adjacent to the property. It was easy and fast to go from the house to the beach. It's also about a 3 minute walk to all the restaurants and shops in the heart of Seaside. We started and ended every day the same way-- sitting on the upper balcony, gazing out at the Gulf or up at the blanket of stars. The views are to die for! This was the nicest vacation home we've ever stayed in and I hope to stay here again someday. Our host, Charlotte, was friendly and responsive. Proteus is a dream!!
