I loved my stay. At 66 and 76, it's hard to climb in a tall bed. The bath tub is hard to get in and out. You can't wash your feet because you have nothing to hold onto. Afraid someone will fall out of the tub or bed and die. You asked for it, now you have it.

We really enjoyed our stay!! Kim was a great host. All, and we mean all the essentials were taken care of, even some basic groceries. What a pleasant surprise to see milk, eggs, bread, cereal, creamer and coffee, tea, condiments, and many other grocery items The place is adorable. Beautiful almost 200 year old home. Very nicely appointed. Will stay there again as we want to explore Petersburg more thoroughly.

This is a wonderful property in Petersburg! It’s roomy and comfortable, with excellent lighting and even off-street parking! I frequently work remotely while traveling in the area, and this is one of the best setups I have stayed in. The kitchen was incredibly well-stocked and there was a real desk and chair for office work. Light sleepers new to the area should know that you can hear the train whistles in the evening and early in the morning, but this seems to be true in every building in this section of Petersburg. I would absolutely stay at Kim’s place again.

My husband and I drove from NH to VA and then to NC following our son's college baseball team from VT on their Spring training trip. We loved the uniqueness of this historical property. It was clean, well stocked, and tastefully decorated and the owner was quick to respond to any questions. Our only complaint was the noise level late at night/ early morning. There were cars flying up and down the street with loud radios and mufflers. Also, if I could make a small suggestion it would be to maybe put some heavier,
light blocking blinds in the bathroom upstairs to block out the street lights and for more privacy

I live out of state, but grew up in the surrounding area. I decided on this location, because it was central to my family and friends. My boyfriend and I couldn’t have been more pleased. The home is gorgeous, with a mix of historic structural features, mixed with modern conveniences. I wasn’t expecting the kitchen to be supplied with some basic staples, but this allowed us to eat out less and spend more time at the house. I love the spaciousness of the dining and living room areas. Having 2 bathrooms was nice. Most of the livable area is upstairs and there is no elevator, so if someone has issues with navigating stairs, this rental would not work. You are close to the mall and numerous historical locations. The only problem I encountered was with some large spiders, primarily in the upstairs bathroom. I know this can happen in older homes. Kim was an excellent communicator throughout the process. I will highly recommend this Vrbo home and will use it again.

We chose this house due to its proximity to Fort Lee as we stayed here to visit our son and had never been to this area before. There are some really nice old homes nearby and also many abandoned homes and buildings. The town was more rundown than expected but we still felt safe to go for a walk in the morning. The house is very old but nicely kept. We were not expecting it to be two stories with all of the usable space upstairs so you should be mindful of that if anyone traveling has issues with climbing stairs. All of the furniture is in great shape. The bed is huge and requires a stool to climb to get in which is provided. My husband is 6’6” tall and had to use it as well. The homeowners provide some staples in the kitchen which, for us, were all expired though we never anticipated using their food anyway. We had reached out to the homeowners with a question on our day of arrival and never heard from them until many hours later that evening. I was thankful we didn’t have any issues entering the house or we could have been stuck waiting for them to reply as they were out of town. The livable space was clean. Windowsills and corners of the bathroom had quite a few spiderwebs and dead flies but everything else was very clean. All in all our experience was fine and it served our needs to have a place to stay so we could spend time with our son.

Perfect historic location in an adorable historic down town!
Kim is a wonderful host! His 1830’s ‘Corner Store’ home takes you back into time! My college best friend and I met here because Petersburg is the perfect mid point for us! We wanted a quiet weekend where we could relax, play games, watch movie, stroll safe neighborhoods, and eat good food. Historic Petersburg was just the place! Kim’s home is classic and every detail was attended to—to include fresh flowers at the entrance!! The kitchen is the best stocked VRBO I have ever been in. Literally, every convenience item you could think of was present! Kim is a great communicator as well! The living room furniture is so comfortable and the epic bed has stairs to help you get in!! So fun! Several great restaurants and shops within walking distance—felt very safe walking all through the neighborhood!
I would stay here again in a heart beat, and am considering bringing my husband for a weekend getaway—he loves history and this would be the most romantic place for us!
The home is the second floor on an old general store. Home has been wonderfully remodeled for convenience, but EVERY detail has been beautifully preserved! Cannot recommend this home or host enough!!
