Butterfly Dunes is a gorgeous home and the ideal retreat for the traveler looking to unwind in a less occupied stretch of beach. This unique beachfront home has breathtaking views from every room, each with direct balcony access!
You are welcomed by the sound of the waves as soon as you walk onto the property, a truly heart-warming experience. The stairs leading to the main deck give you a full view of the beach. The wrap around deck gives you ample space to sunbathe or watch the waves roll onto shore. The deck has seating for 17 including a covered area with couch, an amazing bar, and a large outdoor dining table that seats 8. One of the unique things about this home is how forward it is to the beach relative to its adjacent neighbors. This allows for true 180-degree, uninterrupted views of ocean, beach and dunes making this property’s location a rare and envious one among Galveston beachfront homes.
From the moment you walk in, the large windows bring in natural light and make this home feel bright and cheerful. The open floor plan offers an airy feel to the clean, beachy décor of the home. The living room and dining areas provide ample seating for everyone. opposite the living room is a bedroom with a king bed and its own private exit to the main deck. There is a full bathroom beside it. The second level has a master king room with an added daybed and trundle. The Tempur-Pedic king is one small example of the high-end finishes provided for your comfort. The master has a private balcony and beautiful views of the water through the large windows. It has a master bath with double sinks, a jetted tub and a large walk-in closet. Down the hall, there is a room with a queen bed and a shared balcony with the fourth bedroom. The fourth bedroom is a paradise for kids and teens. There is a pyramid bunk (twin on top of full) and a bunk bed (twin on top of twin). The second level also has a laundry room with full sized washer and dryer and a large full bath.

Upstairs: Master Bedroom 2 has a King bed, daybed with trundle, and master bath with a jetted tub. Private deck access. Bedroom 3 has a queen bed, shared balcony with 4th bedroom. Bedroom 4 features a Pyramid Bunk (1 Twin, 1 Full) and a bunk bed (twin over twin). There is an additional shared hallway bathroom.
Location: 13.4-mile drive to 61st Street; 17.4-mile drive to 25th & Strand; 13.4 miles to Moody Gardens/Schlitterbahn Waterpark.
Notes: No pets. No garage access but there is a ground level closet offering guests use of owner’s beach chairs and beach toys.

This was the perfect location for our rather large group. Pictures and descriptions doesn’t do it justice. It has everything you need. It mentions beach toys, there’s several boogie boards, a ton of sand toys and plenty of beach chairs.

We had a great time at this VRBO. The house was clean, the location was prime, and everything was as advertised. One of the reasons we chose this house was the reviews about how many extras were included that might not be in every rental property. The kitchen was fully stocked, lots of movies to watch and games to play, and there were a few things that were convenient to have next to the beach. Glad we didn't have to go to Walmart and buy a bunch of stuff that we wouldn't take home with us. It was a great experience.

The home is beautifully decorated and feels like a home as soon as you walk in. The kitchen is furnished with every kitchen item (pots, pans, utensils, gadgets, etc) you need to cook all your meals include a decent selection of spices. You do have access to the owners beach closet for adult and children's beach chairs and a large collection of toys for the kids to play in the sand along with a couple of boogie boards and skimmer boards. The only critique is the thermostats are impossible to work. I have used a wide variety of smart thermostats, but these were impossible to adjust. Fortunately, the weather was not super hot for us, so we were comfortable. I would recommend specific instructions for adjusting the thermostat in the owners book because if there was a trick to getting the screen to show the temp adjustment, I was unable to figure it out. I would recommend this house to everyone and would not hesitate to rent again.

The property was amazing and my family loved it! It rained a great deal while there, but the house was so comfortable that we didn't mind. It was so well stocked that we didn't need anything, games, books, kitchen utensils, it is all there. Thank you to the owners for sharing their home with us.

This house is amazing! Great location, kitchen is fully stocked with cooking tools and appliances, plenty of beds and bedrooms, the beach was great, close walk right out the private back patio. The kitchen and bedrooms were very clean and nice.

From the moment we saw the property listing and look through pictures, we knew it was going to be perfect for our family. The view is amazing! Property is very clean and love the interior decor. Couple of issues in top and bottom master bathroom and middle bathroom shower and bunk bed room door to balcony. Beautiful master bathroom but in tub the water would take forever to go down drain. Middle bathroom the shower doors were broken from rail. Bottom shower water would come out of door when you turn on shower head. Older model shower maybe. Kitchen is equipped with everything you possibly use. Spices are expired. We had taken a lot of our spices and other items! Definitely would love going back. Would love it more if check in was earlier instead of 4. First night we weren’t able to enjoy and see everything. But fell in love with beach house and property. One thing we didn’t like was that a group of people went and sat right across the beach access coming out of property. We had to sit away from our area. But other than that our stay was amazing! Can’t wait to go back and stay longer. ❤️Palafox Family

This location is really great, right in the beach and not too far from the sea wall. It’s perfectly stocked, just bring shampoo and conditioner there isn’t much at all. Plenty of beach chairs and toys. Games, DVDs, fully stocked kitchen and appliances. Some sheets need replaced, some are really rough. Good stay though!

We all loved this stunningly beautiful home and all the gorgeous decor. It was the perfect size for our large family. Perfect location right on the beach! We will definitely want to stay again in the summer months

Beautiful property and amenities. All as pictured in listing. Great kitchen with everything I needed to bake and prepare meals and treats. Lovely furnishings in every room. I felt like we were in one of my friends’ home. Views are beyond amazing throughout the house. Gorgeous sunrises from Primary bedroom. Location is good too. Also, easy , short drive to the Seawall restaurants. Good selection of local restaurants too. We have very large men (6’6”) in our family and the seating area in living room worked well. Very nice outdoor spaces too ,and accommodates everyone for dining, lounging and sunning. Separate spaces to get some reading and alone time as well. I can’t wait to return!!
PS : Butterflies and dragon flies entertained along with sea birds.

The property really does have all you need, just bring your food and your all set. So many things they don't have listed on the website included both drip and Kcup coffee maker, lawn chairs, sand toys, charcoal BBQ all the pots and pans and dinner ware you would need. I would definitely rent this property again.

Has everything
The house is beautiful. There are tons of beach stuff for the kids and chairs, no need to bring that stuff. The house is supplied quite well with just about anything you'll need, just bring food. We had a family of 13, ranging from 58 to 6 months and we were all very comfortable and had so much fun.

We loved staying at Butterfly Dunes. It looks exactly like the pictures. It's amazing being so close to the beach. Keep in mind that you are about a 30 minute drive from downtown Galveston, but that didn't bother us. We had a baby along and the rental company provided us with a pack n play (though no sheets so keep that in mind if you also do this). Gary Greene rental company is super responsive and helpful. There were several big storms during our stay and the house leaked in several spots. I notified them by email and I got a call back about sending someone out to fix it. We ended up having them wait to send someone until after our stay since it wasn't supposed to rain anymore, but someone was going to come quickly.
Lots of things included like beach toys/chairs, beach towels, tons of extra sunscreen, drink cups, great coffee mugs and coffee/tea. We really enjoyed our stay!

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Butterfly Dunes! The property was right on the beach, tastefully decorated, with gorgeous decks and wonderful views of the ocean. Communication with the property manager was efficient and quick. Only recommendation would be to highlight the many amenities that come with the property (Kuerig coffee machine, tons of beach towels, yeti coolers, spices & herbs for cooking…and so on) - these were not listed either in the vrbo description or in the contract…

Only suggestion we would make would be to put tvs in the bedrooms and upgrade the cable offering (we stayed during the final 4 of basketball and couldn’t get the games!) But totally minor on the scale of how great the property is! Would stay again!

Butterfly Dunes
This is a fantastic property- steps away from the beach. The view from the home is amazing. Butterfly Dunes is beautifully decorated and very clean. The property owners thought of everything to ensure our comfort- including beach towels and sunscreen.
This home is a little off the beaten path- however, this allowed us to have an almost private beach.
I would highly recommend this rental to anyone staying in Galveston. We hope to make a return visit soon.

Girls Trip
We loved this property!! It is pure luxury! The pictures of the inside are spot on. The furniture was beautiful but comfy and cozy. The bedrooms were big and spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with high end dishes and cookware. We stopped by the grocery store and enjoyed cooking in this kitchen overlooking the ocean. It was the perfect place to relax on our girls winter beach trip. There were only 5 of us this time but definitely want to bring the rest of the family back. There is plenty of room! And big nouns… This house is RIGHT on the beach so we could watch the kids play from the balcony. We enjoyed our stay so much!
