About this house rental
This pristine 139 year old 10,000 square foot Marcus Daly masterpiece in the middle of everything you love about Montana. Marcus Daly, well known as the Copper King and one of the wealthiest men of his time, built this incredible victorian mountain home before the city of Hamilton was platted and his riverside mansion was constructed.
The Bitterroot Mansion remodel modernized and preserved the history and elegance of one of the most important homes in Montana, while providing a gorgeous location for families and friends to reunite and enjoy the beauty of the Bitterroot valley. This Marcus Daly masterpiece was recently featured on HGTV’s “Ultimate House Hunt.” The pristine 2,000 square foot great room is the perfect place for family and friends to gather. The main kitchen is truly gourmet with additional galley kitchen on the upper floor and snack bar/kitchen on the lower floor. There are 7 bathrooms including 2 oversized bathrooms with 3 showers in each next to the bunk rooms, for a total of 11 showers all together.
The mansion is the absolute ultimate for mixing timeless beauty with fun and entertainment. Outside you will find decks and patios overlooking rare and unique mountain park like manicured grounds that creatively mix towering douglas fir, pines and blue spruce with the vast colors and scents of flowering trees, hedges and gardens. You and your guests will enjoy expansive lawns for croquet, volleyball, crossnet, corn hole, ring pole, and spike ball. The mansion has pickle ball and basketball courts with night time lighting. The “bike barn” has 6 bikes to tour historic Hamilton or ride along the bitterroot river and all your outdoor gear needed for family fun. Inside the mansion, you will find a high tech theater and audio system, poker table, pool table, shuffleboard, foosball, and gaming room with huge screen television.
At the end of the day, soak under the stars in the 10 person sauna to rest and relax in preparation for another beautiful Montana day.
The mansion is located right in the middle of everything the Bitterroot valley has to offer. You are only a 2 minute drive to the famous Bitterroot River with boat drop and beach, the mansion is central to the best hiking in the valley with more than 20 hikes within 20 minutes. The Stock Farm and Hamilton Golf Club are within 20 minutes. Lake Como is a 20 minute drive with towering mountains that grow right out of the lake and beautiful water falls for those willing to make the 3.5 mile hike. There are also more than 20 restaurants in addition to coffee shops, bakeries and mountain shopping all located within 15 minutes. Missoula International Airport is about 45 minutes to an hour drive.

Annual guys strip to golf, fish, relax and just have a great time once again was incredible in large part because of this amazing property. Thank you and we'll see you next summer.

Every year we go somewhere we’ve never been.
It’s a gathering of all our siblings for a week of games and shenanigans.
This year we chose Hamilton, MT because of the Broadway musical.
Whe. We found this property we didn’t think there was any way it would live up to the listing.
We were wrong. In fact it exceeded them.
The location to town. The quiet location. Nearness yo hiking and fishing. Everything was perfect.
The kitchen was amazing with the multiple dishwashers. The professional range. Oh and let’s not forget the Traeger on which we smoked prime rib for the entire crew of 11.
Oh the hot tub held about 8 which worked for us.
Well, everything worked for us.
The grounds were immaculate.
It was perfect.
Thank you!!!!

This was such a beautiful place, and we felt like we were on a fancy vacation. The hosts were outstanding, and communicated with us easily and often. They were quick to make sure we were well taken care of, and answered any questions quickly! By far this is the BEST place we've stayed in a long while, and worth every penny.

This was a magical stay! The home is a beautiful historic cornerstone in Hamilton and every detail, furnishing and decor was beautifully chosen. The space allowed our little family to have a relaxing weekend that was also filled with tons of activities, laughter and amazing family time. The hosts are amazing to work with and we are already looking for another weekend or week to spend at the Dowtown Daly! A must for anyone wanting elegant perfection and the ultimate space for relaxation. From pickleball, to hot tubbing under the Montana stars and cooking in a former kitchen this isTHE PLACE TO STAY! ❤️❤️

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Copper King Bitterroot Mansion in Hamilton, Montana, and it was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we stepped inside, we were enveloped in a perfect blend of historical elegance and modern luxury. Each room tells a story, beautifully marrying the charm of the past with contemporary comforts.
Our group felt instantly at home, surrounded by a warmth and hospitality that made it feel more like staying at a dear friend’s home rather than a vacation rental. The attention to detail in every corner, from the cozy bedrooms to the well-appointed amenities and living spaces, made our stay truly memorable.
The mansion provided the perfect backdrop for our staff teambuilding adventure, offering a serene and luxurious retreat making work more engaging and enjoyable. It’s a unique property that offers not just a place to stay, but an experience to be cherished. We are grateful for the memories we made here and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a special getaway.

The property is amazing and the mansion is immaculate in cleanliness, amenities, comfort and décor. Several of my associates had already began to book a stay for their families and friends on the first night!
It worked so perfectly for our business meeting with a combination of fun things to do together that created some fantastic shared experiences and lots of laughter to build trust and deeper relationships as well as the perfect area to get work done, which was a strategic planning session.
Communication from the host was excellent. Will definitely be back.

Looking for your next out of town experience? A Texan recommends the 5 Star Bitterroot Mansion Experience in Hamilton, Montana. Missoula Airport is small and easy to navigate. The rental car process is a breeze. Traveling from Missoula to Hamilton is a 1 hour straight shot with amazing views of mountains and wildlife everywhere you look. The Bitterroot Mansion exceeds all expectations. Checking in is simple and the property manager provided us with instructions for our group to be independent. The house has many activities like a poker table, pool table, and shuffle board. The hot tub is very relaxing. The beds are 10/10 comfortable. Off the property activities that our group participated in were attending a Montana University football game, hiking around Lake Como (you need to go here), taking pictures of the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch sign from the road, eating and drinking at the many restaurants and bars that the towns have to offer. The locals are helpful with restaurant and bar suggestions. The group and I thought that Montana would be a cool place to live by the end of our stay. I would like to return to the Bitterroot Mansion next time I stay in Montana.

Every picture on the Bitterroot Mansion site is accurate, but what it doesn't show is the amazing layout, attention to detail, all the extras, and how it far, far exceeded our expectations. We are a family of three generations who were in the area for our son's wedding and not one of our 13-member family was disappointed. There is something for everyone to do, no matter the age.
The teenagers wished our stay was for a month instead of just four nights - the downstairs "kids' floor" was unbelievable and the activities to be had made it so no one wanted to leave the property. Outside amenities included six cruiser bikes to ride to the river, the pickleball court was in high demand, hot tub was popular, and the swing was like no other. Then when it was too dark to be outside, the shuffleboard table, pool table, and poker table were in constant use.
The kitchen was incredible with enough counter space and work surfaces so no one was in the way of each other. We didn't use any of the appliances in the upstairs kitchen or downstairs kitchenette, but the two extra fridges helped to store 24 leis from Hawaii for the wedding. :)
Amazing, amazing property! We loved every minute of our stay and cannot recommend it more highly. We have made lots of memories and will be talking about our Hamilton stay for years.
Thank you to the owners of this property who opened their home and their hearts to make our stay so incredible and memorable.

We had immediate family stay on the property and then hosted a mini wedding on the grounds, and it was PERFECT. We were blown away by the house and all of its amenities. Even larger than the pictures suggest with endless activities for the whole family. And the owners were very responsive to all of our needs, even ensuring lawn care and sprinklers didn’t disrupt parts of our week. Thank you!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Copper King Bitterroot mansion! The property is truly jaw-dropping in its beauty, elegance, and accommodation. In addition, the owners were incredibly responsive, communicative, and genuinely wonderful hosts. We hosted a small, 40 person wedding at the mansion, and it was the perfect place. Gorgeous grounds, space for everyone, and amazing as an outdoor event space. All our guests were amazed by the property and had a wonderful time. We cannot recommend the Copper King enough for any purpose - group stay, wedding, event, or just an opulent stay in the gorgeous Bitterroot Valley. Thank you Steph and Ryan for an incredible stay and making our dream wedding a possibility!

It had everything we needed and more. It was beautiful and exceeded our expectations.
We enjoyed the game room and pickle ball court. The location was great, could walk to dinner and grocery store. We walked all over town.
Everyone said they would like to go again.

This was an amazing experience!!! This place is magical and magnificent. So much thought and design went into this place. It was warm and cozy yet had scattered pieces of 139 year history and was so very grand yet current.
The mansion was furnished so well for travelers. We loved all the fun things to do that were supplied by this property. Biking, fire pit, pickle ball, indoor shuffleboard table, poker table for cards, pool, a beautiful jacuzzi for soaking in the evenings. This space allowed us all to spread out and have our own needed space yet allowed some very special family moments to to delight in. Stephanie and Ryan were so responsive to our phone calls and answering any questions and really made you feel like if there was anything you needed they would be there to help you.
Can’t make this mansion GLOW anymore with my words than it does on its own. It was such a delightful time. This is EXPERIENCE… not just a stay.

I have stayed in countless VRBO homes over the last few years. This house, is by far the best ever. This house is literally a mansion, and, perfectly remodeled &, stocked, with property managers that are amazing. If you are considering a Vrbo, near Missoula, Montana, do yourself a favor and book this property.

This house is PHENOMENAL! The pictures and descriptions don't do it justice. Do NOT hesitate in booking and just trust this review. We had a great time in both the home and location. The property was immaculate, the pickleball court a total plus! The house itself was perfect for our group of 10 to relax, work, play and eat. We loved every part about our stay and would not change a thing. Can't wait to book again next year!

There are absolutely no complaints regarding this place! Everyone who attended the retreat was impressed by the care and detail of the house. The remodel is very professional with all top quality products used. Attention to detail is seen in everything. The chef was extremely impressed by the kitchen area saying it was the best she had worked in. All of the rooms in the house are exquisite. The wifi is top notch. The grounds are beautiful and the bicycles and hot tub were great. We plan to be back next year!

This is a spectacular property, beyond what the images can communicate. The renovation did a remarkable job of preserving the historic character of the mansion while adding modern amenities and comfortable furnishings. The home is impossibly clean, easy to live in, well stocked and with every amenity as listed.
The hosts are also great communicators and make the stay easy.
We will be back.

You can't go wrong with this one
This is a great property in downtown Hamilton. We had three families with teens and some younger kids. The lower area of the home is huge and perfectly set up for kids. We almost never saw the seven in our party. They loved hanging out, playing games, and watching TV. The "adult" rooms were great, the kitchen is large and modern, and the sitting room was open, spacious, and comfortable. We loved the bikes, the large grounds, and the basketball court. Overall, a really nice place that I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with.

Amazing property!
We had an amazing stay! The house was absolutely stunning. It’s hard to tell from the pictures but the house and yard is the entire block. The gated entrance with the beautiful logo added to the ambience. The owners made sure we were well taken care of even leaving little snacks and answering any questions we had. Loved the whole experience.

One of a kind
Our group thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this wonderful property. The location couldn’t be better for all our activities. The walk to the farmers market on Saturday morning was only a few blocks, we loved our bike rides through the trees, on the river, and to coffee shops in the morning. The secluded yard was so peaceful for barbecues and relaxing. We loved playing pickle ball with views of the mountains. Interior of the home is so beautifully decorated and stocked with everything we needed. Beds were really comfortable with high quality linens. We read all the reviews before booking and they are spot on. Home surpassed all expectations and we can’t wait to return.

Our new yearly Family Reunion home!
There are numerous extensive reviews by well traveled long time users of Vrbo describing this property as the most over the top exquisite and fun vacation home of all time. It is absolutely true that there are no words to describe just how remarkable this home and property are. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The historic mansion is extraordinary, has indoor and outdoor activities on the expansive property that will entertain all ages for weeks and is located minutes from the bitterroot river, many gorgeous hikes, bike trails and minutes to Main Street Hamilton for coffee, restaurants and shopping. This 140 year old home just feels good and is unlike any property you will ever see. Our host, Stephanie, was wonderful. This was our families most favorite vacation and we have decided to make it the spot for our yearly family reunions. Loved it!

Couples trip
Our group of 5 couples celebrated our friends 40th birthday at this absolutely stunning mansion. Our stay far exceeded all of our expectations! Every detail has been well thought out. You will want for nothing! The host is amazing! She is always accessible and responsive. The great room with the pool table, poker table and shuffleboard is incredible! Our group spent a lot of time enjoying this space! The outside is equally amazing! Pickle ball tournaments, basketball games, hot tub, bike rides, even the tree swing and amazing BBQ. The location is perfect and within walking distance of great restaurants, bakeries, shops and parks. We can not thank our hosts enough and are excited to visit again!

Best Family Reunion Home
While I’m not one for writing reviews, we just had the most wonderful family reunion at the Mansion in Hamilton. Our family has gathered together every year for reunions all over the country and we all agree this was by far the best. The mansion easily accommodated our big group allowing all of us to stay together under one roof and amazingly never felt crowded. There are 11 showers! The great room is open and HUGE allowing all of us to be together in one area to enjoy each other’s company. There is so much to do in and around the house that at the end of our trip everyone was sad to leave. Even though the home is massive, it is also incredibly cozy with so much character, beauty and fun things to do. We enjoyed numerous hikes nearby that rivaled the most beautiful mountain hikes but without the crowds of people. We went raft fishing on the Bitterroot river and white water rafting near Missoula, rode bikes through the mountain trees, and really enjoyed the farmers market Saturday right outside the property gates. There are more than a dozen great restaurants and plenty of grocery and shopping within 10 minutes. The house was immaculate, the hosts were gracious, can’t say enough about this amazing experience.

Opportunity of a life time!
Our stay at the Mansion was so much better than we could have expected. The home is stunning, FUN, beyond spacious, unexpected and loaded with character. Every detail was well thought out and every room is unique. I have never stayed in, much less seen a more exquisite and tasteful home. Every room astounded us with the design and detail down to the accessories.
Our retreat was relaxing as we hot tubbed, played pickleball, corn hole, dined on the large patios, rode the swing under the massive trees, took the owner provided bikes on the bitterroot river, trails through the woods and around the historic town, played pool, watched movies in the massive great room and played the best games of hide and seek in this 10,0000 sf house. The park like yard was hard to leave but the farmers market (only a block away) and great location close to town and amazing hiking trails was also a thrill. The dining room table accommodated all of our party. Each bedroom upstairs was unique and gorgeous with great linens and super comfortable mattresses. Shuffleboard, foosball and riding skate boards, bikes and scooters on the paved walkways around the huge property kept the kids entertained and away from their game systems. After dark the fun continued on the lit basketball and pickle ball court. Though the house is surrounded by massive pine trees, the grounds are expansive park like with lots of color and variety. The kitchen was a delight to cook in with lots of platters, dishes, bowls, and everything we needed.
I can’t recommend this home highly enough. We will definitely be coming back frequently for our family retreats.

Best place to stay!!!!
WOW!! This was the best couples trip ever! Clearly you can tell from the pictures that the mansion is beyond incredible with gorgeous, elegant finishes, attractions and activities GALORE! Its not often you can spend a week with a large group of friends in a historic mansion that accommodates everyone and still feels spacious. We had the best time and never had to leave the property to enjoy the outdoors and gorgeous home. We all loved it and had more than enough to keep us busy. No one wanted to sleep in because there were too many activities tempting them :) We had the excellent opportunity to stay for a friends reunion & though we never needed to leave the house, we really enjoyed being right in the middle of all the outdoor activities of the Bitterroot Valley and Hamilton Montana. Our group loved taking the 6 Easter egg colored bikes on rides along the nearby forest paths, Bitterroot River, and to town to visit the local coffee shops and restaurants. The house has basketball, pickle ball, corn hole on the lit outdoor court plus croquet and a variety of other yard games. The yard is like a colorful park with mountain trees. The great room is the size of most homes and has a theater, incredible sound system, poker table, pool table, shuffle board, lots of games and comfortable places to chat. The coffee station has every flavor you can imagine with lattes, cappuccinos and espresso. After dark we enjoyed hot tubbing under the stars. There are comfortable patios under the massive pine trees, fire pit for roasting marshmallows, Traeger grill for barbecues, and long driveways and expansive grass areas. Clean up was a breeze with 2 dishwashers, washer/dryers, microwaves etc! After hosting our own property for years ourselves and being avid travelers, the most impressive things we found from our stay with Stephanie was the incredible attention to detail and service she provided... from a stellar cleaning crew, to local family members who added personal touches and white-glove, concierge-like service that truly made our stay feel like a 5 star resort! They continually impressed with every request or inquiry, making sure we felt pampered and comfortable beyond measure. These guys know how to host! We’ll be coming back here for sure!

This House is AMAZING!!! Best VRBO we have ever stayed in!
A piece of heaven in Hamilton. Feels like a five-star resort with the comfort and warmness of being at home. Stephanie and Ryan have an amazing property that is built to accommodate large families with a wide range of interests and ages, no one was bored during our week there! This huge historic home has loads of character and though more than 100 years old, everything is brand new. All the rooms were very spacious and comfortable, the kitchen was perfect for cooking and serving meals. We didn't really feel the need to go anywhere else during our week-long stay since the house had everything. The crossnet (volleyball for four), croquet, basketball and pickle ball courts were used every day in the huge park like yard. Hands down the best VRBO experience we've ever had! Best of all, Stephanie and Ryan were the most wonderful hosts. They were very responsive, welcoming, and did everything in their power to ensure our group had the best stay. We are already looking forward to a return trip to this property!

Best Vrbo of all time!
This place is incredible and is better than the pictures could ever show. If you have the opportunity to book, DO IT, you won’t be disappointed. This beautiful home had everything and then some to keep our crew of tots and teenagers at our family reunion entertained. The yard is beautiful and kept the kids and teens entertained. We were able to fit our entire group in the oversized hot tub. The pickle ball court, and outdoor basketball court were all well lit. The huge grass area was great for hanging out with outdoor games provided. Indoors, we enjoyed the huge family gathering places with all kinds of games to keep everyone entertained. The owners really care about their guests, and it shows, from the superb communication to all the little things like stocked coffee bar with all kinds of flavorings and ability to make specialty drinks, treats and goodies left for us and a stocked pantry. The home is located close to everything we wanted to do… great restaurants, amazing hike and bike trails, parks and the river. Four days was not enough! We still never watched a movie, played pool, went to Lake Como.... No need to bring your electonic gadgets...leave them at home and drift back into family time Montana style....Looking forward to our next visit.

A Fabulous Getaway!
WOW!! Hands down the best vacation rental experience we've ever had! We have stayed in many high-end properties and none compare. Feels like a five-star resort with personal touches, white-glove concierge-like service, attention to detail with all the comfort and warmness of being at home. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay. The home is in a quiet peaceful setting surrounded by a variety of towering pine trees. While we didn’t really need to go anywhere during our stay, the owner provided bicycles and we could ride to the Bitterroot River 5 minutes away. The rafting, hiking, fishing, on nearby rivers and lakes is just outstanding. It is a short distance to Main Street Hamilton with all the restaurants and shops. The property has a pickleball court, basketball court, and many yard games like corn hole, croquet, and volleyball. There is a large hot tub, numerous patios to relax in the outdoor spaces, fire pit, and fantastic outdoor cooking area. The massive great room is something you have to see to believe, it's just gorgeous and spacious enough to accommodate all of our group all in the same room. We were able to play poker, shuffleboard, pool, and foosball and enjoy the amazing sound system and theater. While the pictures give a good idea of just how magnificent the property is, they don’t do it justice. It was fun to learn about the history of this 135-year-old home that has been completely renovated into a gorgeous property. Everything is new and of the absolute highest quality. The main kitchen is truly gourmet and there are galley kitchens on both the upper and lower levels. The 2 bunk rooms are super fun with 6 queen beds in each. Each of the bedrooms were very spacious and most had king-size beds and huge bathrooms. Stephanie was super gracious and continually impressed with every request or inquiry making sure we felt pampered and comfortable beyond. We’ll be coming back here for sure!
