This is a very nice location. The place was neat and well maintained. The biggest pluses are very private and secluded location, plenty of beds, modern appliances, amazing sunsets, quiet lake area, vineyards, brewers and distilleries are minutes away, restaurants minutes aways and Watkins Glen is maybe 10 minutes away. The only minuses are: 64 Steps from the house to the dock, critters and bugs, some mud if it rains hard, tight turns to get in, no central AC and no boat launch within a few miles. This place is in the woods up on a bluff. If you have mobility issues it may not be for you. When you're in the woods you can expect creepy crawlers and creepy critters...if you can't deal with that there's plenty of hotels just down the road in Watkins Glen. That said; if you want a quiet, private, romantic and beautiful venue for a few days this place is excellent. 9 out of 10 IMHO

Pros:
1. great spot on the lake.
2. nice large private dock (kayaks included)
3. upper deck has a tranquil, treehouse feeling
4. large, private wooded lot
5. house is large but still has a quaint cabin charm and nicely updated kitchen and bathroom.
6. dog friendly
7. good proximity to Watkins and several breweries / wineries.
Cons:
1. The house can sleep 9 but only bathe 1. Wasn't a problem for me, but larger groups would have trouble.
2. The water pressure is a known issue at times. The book says to call someone or fix yourself if this happens. It's only a problem in the shower, but I didn't bother calling about it. For the extra $100 fee they charge when booking I would've thought they'd fix it before I got there.
3. Could use some lighting in the foyer.
4. No A/C. Just fans. Fine with me, but might bother some.
note: if walking to nearby breweries / wineries, realize that the road the cabin is on is VERY steep. The walk will take a little longer than expected. Also, once on the main road, cars drive fast (50+mph). It's like walking on the shoulder of a small highway. We did it once and opted to drive the other days.

Great house over looking seneca lake. Beatiful and quiet. Privat pier for swimming and relaxing. Great views frim the deck while grilling. Convenient to local attractions. Watkins Glen Gorge is a must see.

We had such an amazing time. Thank you so much for being so attentive and being readily available when/if we needed anything. We will definitely be back!!!

The cabin was cute and comfortable. Everything was as expected. Unfortunately, there were large cockroaches all over the house. Some pest mantinence is definitely needed.

The property was perfectly situated on Seneca Lake and access to the house was uncomplicated. While we enjoyed our time there, the bathroom, and in particular the shower, seemed as if it hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. Obvious cleaning tasks such as removing the last inhabitant's ball of hair from the drain weren't done. The outdoor shower ended up more preferable.
While I fully understand this cabin is smack in the middle of the woods, there were a sizeable amount of well-established and old cobwebs in every room and a few sightings of cockroaches in the morning in the kitchen. Outside of these problems that seem easily remedied for someone else in the future, we loved the property.

Pros: lake front, fun, holds a large family, eating on the porch was relaxing, location, hot tub
Cons: could use a deep clean: items in kitchen cabinets a bit grimy, musty smell lower level, come prepared with drinking water
Overall, we had a great time. Thank you!

A beautiful getaway vacation with our family for a few days. The house is tucked away in the middle of the woods, yet opens up to a beautiful view of Seneca Lake. Upon arrival we found a very clean kitchen and bathrooms, with all the amenities that we needed. We love to cook and were surprised at the fully equipped kitchen to meet our needs. Plenty of space for the 8 of us to be comfortable. Best part of the evenings - building a fire literally 2 feet from the water's edge in the fire pit. We brought our own wood, but did notice a few piles of split wood throughout the property. Please keep in mind - this is a rustic house in the middle of the woods. You can expect to find an occasional spider or bug throughout. It's part of living in the woods which our family is used to; however, might not be for everyone. Also, for planning purposes, you'll want to bring your own drinking water, as there is a recommendation in the information folder to not drink the water. And according to my youngest daughter, it's 68 steps down to the dock and the water. We got a fantastic leg workout during the week! It was a unanimous family vote to return here next year.

We had a great time in the cabin. The only “issues” we had were the bugs that got into the house but most of us were okay killing them and moving on. The stairs down to the lake were a trek but worth it. We stayed in mid September and nights were quite cold or hot. Pack for both. If you’re looking for a rustic stay this is a great spot.

My friends and I stayed here this past weekend and overall we had a great time! I was a little surprised because it lists 2 bathrooms so I assumed 2 full baths. The main bathroom and beautiful but the second is just a utility room with a toilet and it was kind of dirty, spider webs and dead bugs. The outdoor shower was nice. The cabin is very rustic! No insulation, a/c or heat. There seemed to be a lot of spiders but that’s what you get with a cabin in the woods so it didn’t really bother us. Hot tub was clean and nice. The dock area and absolutely beautiful! There was 1 step that was loose but other than that they felt safe and sturdy. They give you 2 kayaks to use and tons of other equipment to use, which is great. The kitchen was great, very clean and well equipped. Overall we had a great weekend and would probably come back.

This place was located right by the water and so close to town. Proximity to wineries and breweries was great as well. Although if you don’t like bugs or have bad allergies to mold this may not be the place for you. The cabin was well stocked with anything you may need for lake fun.

Beautiful location! Sunsets were amazing. You are right above the water and in a heavily wooded area. My niece informed me it is 67 steps to go to the water. This cabin is a slight step above tent camping. Everything was clean but it is old. Very Buggy, Screens on windows need replacing and screen door is our of square. No screen door on the door at all so the bugs come in from everywhere. Couches and mattresses have seen better days but linen was clean. We took air mattresses just in case and used them. No A/C but a ton of fans everywhere. Very hot in there during the day and cold late at night. We had a blast but we didn't spend much time in the cabin. We were in the lake or out hiking most the time. We will definitely go back to the area again but not stay here again. I would prefer somewhere more updated. All the people we ran in to were incredibly nice and I can not wait to return to this region next summer.

Property manager declined to answer questions about kitchen supplies, sleeping cabin distance, and water, which was frustrating since we needed safe drinking water as there were children, someone who was pregnant, and a senior in our group. We were particularly disappointed to find out that safe drinking water would not be provided, though pictures of the cabin show the water/dispenser. Unfortunately for us, we arrived during a heat wave, so even with fans we were hot and particularly uncomfortable trying to sleep on 100% polyester sheets. We used fold out sofa in living room instead of the sleeping cabin (just 10 steps from the house via deck walkway, with trundle downstairs and 2 air mattresses in loft), because the door doesn't lock. Also, most of the doors interior/exterior the cabin don't have knobs or latches. When we arrived the lower exterior door was wide open, and it didn't stay closed well, even with a lock. We also learned upon arrival that the bottom of the lake is covered with small mussels that crush and cut your feet when you walk on them. Would have liked to know this in advance, and would have brought our own water shoes. Bins of old water shoes were available for use. Positives - kitchen was really well stocked with all supplies you'd need for cooking including a food processor, drip coffee machine/grinder, and hand mixer. The lake is beautiful! We had a great time on the water and exploring the area. Watkins Glen hike is fantastic.

We love everything about this place and hope to be back! I only gave the property manager a poor rating b/c I tried to reach her before we left with a question about whether or not the property had electric fans. No response. I was able to reach her on the day we checked out with a question about garbage.

Perfect location, cute cabin. Interesting book selection in “kids” loft. Dead mouse and lots of spiders/cockroaches but that is expected in the woods. Overall nice rustic cabin with beautiful views.

Great Family Vacation spot. Easy ten min. drive to Watkins Glen for shopping and restaurants. Updated kitchen and bathroom. Keep in mind the driveway to the property is steep. Also keep in mind the stairway to the lakefront is steep but once down there the large dock is great with plenty of space. Hot tub and Kayaks were a great added bonus as well. Was slightly disappointed that there was not a firepit as stayed in amenities. Only complaint would be new mattresses are needed for all beds. All other accommodations were great!!!

Great Location But Beware Of The Cabin's Water
Fantastic location and dock. We could not drink the water: we discovered that the water is directly from the lake with only a sediment filter. One of my daughters became very sick from drinking the water the first night. As long as you bring you own water the cabin is lovely, but rustic.

While the lake views were spectacular, there were a few things I wish we would have known before booking our stay. Most importantly there is no heat or air conditioning, which would have been fine if we were better prepared. Temps were cold at night and the bedding was not appropriate for the temps. Additionally the beds were all very old and mattresses thin and uncomfortable. There were a ton of spiders and cobwebs on the frame of one of the downstairs beds which could have easily been cleaned and the lighting in every room was poor. There was a constant leak from the sink in the downstairs half bath that required us to mop up the floor each day and they provided minimal linens which meant we had to continuously run wash to keep up with the leak. The outside decks and steps were covered with mold and mildew which made for a very slippery and dangerous surface. The railing down to the lake was not secure and therefore two of our older guests who were not so steady on their feet were unable to join us down by the lake. Even the decks and stairs attached to the house were slippery as was the path from the parking area to the house. While I realize this is a cabin in the woods and we were fine with it being rustic, it just would have been nice to have a realistic expectation about the rental so that we could have made an educated choice as to whether this property was appropriate for our group. There was also the frustration of not having any basic supplies upon arrival (toilet paper, paper towels, soap, dish detergent). We arrived late at night and some starter supplies would have made our experience much more enjoyable. Also, we had 4 cars and had a hard time fitting them all in the parking area. It was also extremely muddy which made it difficult not to drag mud into the home. This place has a lot of potential but some attention to a few key maintenance issues would go a long way.
