First of all I want to say I love this place but I just can't. The owner is very nice and absolutely easy to work with but the cabin is in need of repair and a thorough cleaning. With taxes and fees the price was near 385$ which is very steep for this room. First impression.... very unlike the VRBO picture, it is located on a very busy intersection with a train station nearby. It was quite loud. Upon entering, the musty smell was overwhelming .. it is a rustic 1818 cabin, rich with history I know, but rustic and ok for guests are two different things. My husband and I could see the outside from inside the house, again rustic I know, but the spider webs were literally everywhere and mouse droppings were evident on both levels. The bedding was clean and temperature was nice and I did appreciate the snacks provided by the host. If you choose to stay here keep in mind it is very rustic and a little
More primitive than i prefer.

Oh my goodness! The cabin is marvelous. The location central. The host is the most! Great communication, recommendations and service. The cabin is near train tracks but I for one love the sound of a train. We absolutely loved staying there and Judi is the best! We hope to be back!

We were in town for a soccer tournament which was about 15-20 mins away from the cabin. The check-in and check-out was super easy and the host was was very responsive. The cabin so cute and has so much charm, I wish we could have stayed a few extra days.

Our stay at that Oak Lodge was a wonderful experience. The historic building was nicely furnished and outfitted. There were a lot of little touches that enhanced our stay. Plenty of coffee for mornings on the patio, books and magazines highlighting the history etc.
Our host was wonderful and accommodating.
We will be in the area annually and this will be our first choice in years to come.

We stayed at Oak Lodge with the idea it would be a stop off
while touring KY. We found that we could not wait to get back to the cabin.
The screened back porch was a get together for the 3 of us to visit. We had our wine and talked a lot.
We would stay again for sure. Clean, the amenities were great. Only downfall was the traffic and noice of trucks.

Everything was first-rate , from start to finish. Great booking experience and great location. Cabin is exactly as advertised—it is beautifully restored and quite comfortable. It would be worth booking it just for the pleasure of staying in it, even if you didn’t do anything else during your visit! Our favorite part was the screened back porch. The location is perfect for bourbon tours, and we combined those with baseball in Lexington. Judith makes sure that everything is just right for your stay, with coffee and snacks there when you arrive. This is a great place to stay.

What a great little cabin. The host made sure everything was ready to go, including snacks and personal items (shampoo etc) were available for road weary travelers. The property was clean and we did enjoy the stay. What no one mentions in other reviews is that this little house is right on a main drag, and across the street from an industrial park. We listened to loud trucks, cars and an odd amount of motorcycles the entire 2 nights we were there. Because this is truly an old cabin, sound insulation didn’t exist when it was built. Again a nice stay, great host, but the noise prevents you from getting a restful night of sleep.

Quick Visit
Easy and prompt responses. This is an 100 + year old cabin. With a great history in the area, Handed down thru the family. Nice small town, suited our needs well.

Wedding weekend
The Oak Lodge was perfect for our needs and exactly as described. You can just feel the history when you walk into the room. We loved the back porch, lots of privacy. The shops and restaurants in town were perfect as well. Judi was easily available for any questions but was respectful of our privacy. We would highly recommend staying in The Oak Lodge!

Lovely authentic cabin
I highly recommend this venue. It is centrally located between Louisville and Lexington for those traveling the bourbon trail. Lawrenceburg is a quaint town with several great restaurants. The cabin is private, but a very short distance from amenities. The cabin itself excuses charm. It is cozy and quaint without sacrificing comfort .Judy was a thoughtful and responsive host. We found hot cinnamon buns, ‘just because’ on our front doorstep one morning. The screened in porch with its ceiling fan and comfortable seating was a wonderful way to end each day. Thanks, Judy!!

Wished it went better
The property was beautiful but unforeseen circumstances came up and not getting to enjoy the property for the allotted time I paid for was disappointing . I wanted to enjoy the cabin but I understand it could not be helped but very disappointed

Highly Recommend the Property!
We were so pleased in every way with our stay and it was such an interesting historic property. Our host, Judith, was incredible and so attentive to details; provided easy-to-understand instructions on the "how-to's" of items in the home, very welcoming with many food and drink items, comfortable and attractive furniture, beds and bedding, toiletries, and even local and regional travel/tourism ideas. She really went above and beyond! Great location and easy to access for so many things. Our only regret is that we were so busy with plans that we didn't get to enjoy her home as much as we would have liked, especially the beautiful new screened-in porch addition. Will have to come back and add a day just for that! Thank you Judi!!

Bourbon built it, Judi makes it great!
This cabin is living history. The location can not be beat for trail followers and affords you a great base to explore the area distilleries. Judi, the host, is wonderful. Her special little touches make the place feel like home. Everything is clean as a whistle and well taken care of. Im booking for a return visit very soon.

Cabin Getaway in Bourbon & Horse Country
The cabin was unique, clean & beautiful and Judi had every amenity - even chocolates on our pillows :) She was awesome to deal with. Unfortunately we had bad weather the weekend we were there and there was an issue with the heat. However, Judi was more than gracious and accommodating. We would definitely rent again.

Location Location Location
The property is a 200 plus year old cabin with all of the necessities. The 2 main things about this cabin is it's location to the distilleries;
Buffalo Trace 16 miles
Four Roses 4 miles
Wild Turkey 4 miles
Woodford 15 miles
Bulleit 23 miles
Castle & Key 17 miles
Jeptha Creed 27 miles
Three Boys 12 miles
Plus others in nearby Bardstown.
The other thing about the cabin is the host, Judi had everything lined up for us, we did have to call with a question and she was able to instantly respond. We will be making plans to come again, and visit more of the distilleries.
