Welcome to “Fish N’ Chips”!
A beautifully updated, charming 4 BR cedar shake beach home in the Summers Crescent neighborhood of Cape Fear Station. Sleeps up to 6 adults, 2 children (2 King beds, 1 Queen bed, twin bunks. One 6 seater golf cart. Less than 2 minutes by golf cart to the favored East beach. Renovated in early 2022 - new furniture, new paint, new hardwood floors in all bedrooms, all new linens, and quartz countertops throughout.
Bright and airy reverse floor plan with vaulted ceilings over a spacious kitchen, sunny eating area, and living room. Two king bedrooms and two full bathrooms, as well as a kids’ bunk room with twin bunkbed, are located in the main house. The lower level king bedroom adjoins the bunk room through a sliding barn door, perfect for families with children. It has an en suite full bath with shower. The upper level king bedroom is adjacent to a full bath with shower over tub. Off the large side deck is a boardwalk to a quaint, private guest cottage with queen bed, full bathroom, TV and mini-fridge/Keurig. There is a full-sized laundry room in the main house. You can enjoy sitting out on the private side or front deck, listening to the sounds of the ocean. There is a charcoal grill on the deck for evening cookouts. A 6-seater golf cart, surfboard and stand up paddle board are available for your use. There are a few bicycles that are in "as is" condition. Guests are welcome to use the bicycles we have, or can choose to rent their own on the island from one of the rental shops. Around the back of the home is a spacious outdoor shower. Beach towels and chairs are provided. Our home is just a 2 minute walk to the Turtle Conservancy, Mike’s Bites and the community park. Ocean-front Shoals Club guest memberships are available for purchase. Shoals Club pools, restaurants, fitness center, and beach accesses are just a 1 minute golf cart ride away!
Fish N’ Chips is a no-pets and no-smoking home. We also own “Not On Call”, a quaint, two BR cottage located a few homes down from “Fish N’ Chips” - perfect if you are looking for a nearby home for friends or family.
BHI also offers historical tours, kayak rentals, bicycle rentals, guided fishing trips, turtle conservancy, nature trails, shopping, crabbing, etc. So much to enjoy, whether visiting in the midst of summer or in the off-season.

It's a nice little house in the maritime forest area of the island which I really like. It's very near the Shoals Club and a short, easy drive to the Maritime shops. The owner was very nice and responsive when I had to communicate issues/questions. On the down side, perhaps because we were there at the end of the season, we just had several maintenance issues (i.e. bikes and electrical breakers), a few missing items (i.e. beach towels and laundry detergent) that contributed to my three star rating. I was also very disappointed in the kitchen. For a house that can accommodate 6 adults, it was poorly equipped (and poorly lit) so if you're planning to do your own cooking - you probably want to pack bigger pots and pans as well as a sharp knife or two. When we arrived the only key in the lock box was for the golf cart. Luckily, we found a house key in the unlocked garage and were able to get in. Seems to me that the maintenance/cleaning staff should have checked things like this. As I said in the beginning, it's a very nice little cottage and if it wasn't for a bunch of easily addressed "attention to detail" & maintenance issues, this would have been a much more positive review.

Bald Head is a truly special place and this house is a great place to enjoy all the peace, tranquility and ocean breezes the island has to offer. It was a great layout for our group the teens were able to spend time on their own in the crofter and the suite downstairs and venture upstairs for shared family meals, game night and dessert. The owners were very responsive when we had any questions and really went above and beyond to make sure we had enough beach towels and to help us with the house bikes. Truly one of the best vacations we have ever taken.

Great communication with the owner. Very clean, comfortable beds. No complaints at all about the home! I ONLY took off one star for location because we typically stay on the beach and this home is located in the woods a bit so it's more of a tree house type feel. Just a matter of personal preference. But the decor is beachy and you're literally a two minute ride from the east AND the south beaches. One minute ride to Mike's Bites was handy too! Nice little selection of games and puzzles for the kids/teens and we made some great memories and got some nice pictures with the stand up paddle board. Nice beach chairs too. Kitchen decently appointed. It really was a great week. Thanks Chrissie!!

It was our first time staying at that end of the island and we loved how close it was to shopping and restaurants. The guest cottage was very well appointed and we also loved having an outdoor shower. I would highly recommend this property.

Our family of four take an annual trip to BHI each summer. Overall we were very happy with the house. The communication with the owner / pm was fantastic, she was very responsive and helpful. The house was a perfect amount of space for my wife and I, and our two young kids. My mother also joined us for a few nights, and the separate guest cottage was perfect.
The kitchen had everything we needed to cook breakfast and a few meals, and connected with the family room, comfortable space for all to eat, drink and relax.
The outside deck space was nice, unfortunately we didn’t use much of it due to the heat and humidity the week of our visit. I’d imagine this would be a nice space to enjoy in some cooler weather.
There was an outdoor shower which was very useful as well coming back from the beach or pool.
The house came with Shoals Club access, which we used. Overall it was okay, other homes we’ve rented on the island had access to the BHI club, which we prefer a bit more due to more kid friendly pool areas.
The provided 6 seater golf cart was comfortable and reliable, no issues at all.
The neighborhood was quite and set back a bit. We opted for this type of home this year vs being on the ocean like last year to experience a different type of rental location. Both have their pros and cons, but I’m sure we’d rent in a similar location again.
Overall we very much enjoyed the trip and would recommend this house!

We stayed for 4 nights in April with our family (3 kids ages 6 and under). This is a great house!! The property manager is delightful, easy to work with, and super helpful. We loved the location in Cape Fear and proximity to our favorite beach access points on East Beach and South Beach. The golf cart was clean and had zero issues (this was a first of any of our rental homes;). The kitchen and home supplies were well-stocked and nicely labeled. Everything worked great and the space is beautiful! We highly recommend this lovely home.

Check in process was so easy and the location just a few minutes from the Shoals Club and the market/shop area. Fish N' Chips was the perfect home for my family as we celebrated my cousins wedding. It's ideally located close to the Shoal's club, the conservatory and East Beach. The Host was friendly, helpful and accommodating. Check-in and Check-out was a breeze. I would highly recommend this property to anyone. One small note (this did not affect our stay, but may affect others choices), the living areas and some decorative bedroom windows lacked window coverings. If you require complete privacy in the evening, even in common spaces, or enjoy completely blacking out your bedroom. This may not be the best option. But if you enjoy letting the light in and the view of the Carolina costal forest, it won't bother you at all! I would return to Fish N' Chips again!

This was our second year staying with this host (we previously stayed at their other property) and we had another great trip. The house was clean & had all the essentials. The bikes were in great condition and the use of a 6-person golf cart was a huge plus. This is an excellent location - minutes from the beach, Mike's Bites and the Conservancy and a short bike/cart ride to the market. Highly recommended!

My family and I spent a few days at this home and I would highly recommend it! The home was very clean, beautifully decorated and well organized. It was well stocked with anything you may need including beach towels and lots of great beach accessories. Only a short distance to the beautiful South Beach access by golf cart or bike. The host was extremely helpful and very communicative.

Beautiful home and location. Everything about this stay was great. Beds are super comfortable, lots of light in the house and well organized kitchen. It’s not missing anything! :) The upstairs is resting in beautiful live Oak trees. Windows all the way around are just gorgeous and it feels like a tree house. Lots of great touches and decor. New and very comfortable couches and pillows. My older teens played games and said the house felt homey. The only thing we would have added was a second golf cart but those are very easy to rent on the island if you like a little more freedom for your small group. The golf cart with the home is in great condition and seats 6 and has a fold down space for cargo. This was the cleanest home we’ve stayed in over the last 14 years. They’re doing a great job with cleanliness. I think this is the best location on the island. East beach and the access areas are easy to get to and the market is also close. Thanks for a wonderful vacation and sharing your home.

Amazing stay in great location
What a great little cottage for families! We loved our stay here and the owner is fantastic and super communicative. The golf cart is fast (not always common with rentals) and there was plenty of kitchen goods to cook most meals here. Very close to East Beach accesses and tucked away in nature. I would suggest bringing a fan for the crofter as the unit stays fairly warm. We had a great stay!
