About this house rental
Welcome to Sugar Bear! A cozy mountain retreat with Mountain Views. Plenty of room for the kids and pets. Just 15 minutes to Asheville, 15 minutes to Black Mountain, and 7 miles to the Blue Ridge Parkway Entrance. High speed wifi will support remote work. Large smart tv's in the living room and both bedrooms. Gas grill on the patio. No steep roads, home is all on one level. Close to hiking, rafting, art galleries, great food, breweries, music and more. Pet fee $55

We had looked forward to staying here so much with our two grown children, but when we arrived on 5/25, a family was already there and said they'd been there since 5/23 and wouldn't be leaving until 5/27, the day we were to have it until. They very nicely let me have WiFi and I attempted to call Ms. Kilby, but I had to leave a voicemail. As we were leaving the driveway on our way to the Biltmore for our tour, we saw a lady at another home in the driveway. It turned out to be the host. We explained what we found. She was apologetic and did not know why it had been double-booked through another rental platform, other than the calendars did not synchronize for some reason. She of course said we could get a full refund but in the meantime, we were 4 hours away from home with no place to stay on Memorial Day weekend. We also had no time to look for a place since we had to be at the Biltmore in 90 min. On the way, Ms Kilby messaged me via VRBO to say that VRBO needed to speak to us directly and sent me the number. I called repeatedly and no one answered. I let her know that and she said the number was probably wrong. During all of this, my son was upset for all of us and somehow found a number. After an hour of back and forth on the phone, my son was able to understand from them that they would find us a place for 1 night (2 rooms) for free. We were on our own to search for the 2nd night. SO, ask to see if your rental has already been rented via another platform!

This place felt like a brand new apartment. It was so clean and well furnished. The kitchen has everything you need and is spacious especially considering the size of the place. The dining table has a really nice view and the neighborhood is quiet. Yet somehow it's still close to everything! We met our friends for the weekend and this place was perfectly arranged for two couples. We woke up each morning to the sound of the birds singing, and when we came home at night a friendly chicken wanted to know if we had any snacks. Also there were so many thoughtful touches throughout the house, from the well stocked bathroom to the kitchen with everything from dish soap to aluminum foil and even sugar. Overall a fantastic place to stay.

This unit was a little off the beat & path. which was perfect for us. but still only 10 to 20 minutes to get to many restaurants and activities almost all basic necessities are supplied in a cozy little unit. Little bummed we didn't get to see any black bears but maybe next time. I would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our Asheville stay tremendously. Everything about our place was fantastic. We had plenty of room - 2 very generously sized bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Anything you would ever need or want - and then some - was there. The place is very convenient - near shopping, near hiking trails, near the many areas of Asheville and just 5 minutes to my grandson’s college - Warren Wilson. Highly recommend!

Close to parks, the supermarket, and Asheville attractions, the place is small and unassuming but has few disadvantages. We thought it was a bit expensive given the size, age, and neighborhood, but it had everything we needed. Communicating was easy and quick. Using the TV and WiFi were similarly simple.

Where do I begin. Everything you could need was provided. The house was clean, beautifully decorated. It was a very peaceful setting. The host was quick to respond when I had any questions. I would definitely stay here again. Great place to stay if you are going to go to the Biltmore.

We really enjoyed our stay here! Owners have everything you could possibly need. The drinks and snacks were appreciated after a travel day. We had a great family night playing the board games that were provided as well.

This rental property was great. My daughter and I travelled to Asheville over Thanksgiving week and stayed at this property with my daughter's cat. It was an awesome rental property and had every detail taken care of down to providing q-tips and toothbrushes if they were needed. The regrigerator had sodas and the kitchen had snacks which were a pleasant addition. The duplex was clean and very nicely appointed. Sheila Kilby is a wonderful host. Thank you. We give you 5 stars. The property was fairly new. The house had everything that you needed for one night or several days, from q-tips to soap and shampoo, even stocked with new tooth brushes just incase you forgot yours. Was a rural area, yet only a few minutes to the Biltmore and downtown Asheville.

Beautiful property. About 11 miles from Asheville and 7 from Black Mtn- visit both. Very clean. Loved the bear theme. Lots of attention to detail- amenities- snacks, toiletries, dog stuff. Sheila was amazing to communicate with. Relaxing and great stay. Choose this country location. Comfy beds.

The place is clean , beds are very comfortably and stock with pretty much everything! The best part was as we were hang out a bear walk by the back sliding glass door! Loved it!

This property was very clean and in good condition. It's smallish but suited our family size and time frame (1 night). It would have been nice to have bedside tables in the 2nd bedroom. The host was very easy to work with, very accommadating.

The duplex was extremely clean and very comfortable. Provided a lot of extras that were very helpful. (toiletries, coffee, snacks, etc) . Will definitely be back if we are in the area again.

We had an excellent stay at this property with our son and 2 dogs. The house is conveniently located to all points in Asheville. It was clean and well furnished. We saw a mama bear and her cubs just after we arrived just out the door, so it's important to keep you pups on a leash while there. Communication with the owner was excellent and I would definitely stay here again.

This Air B&B is one of coziest Air B&Bs I have ever stayed at. The owner went out of her way to supply snacks and toiletries; very attentive to guests needs. The “bear” theme was a special touch. The location is great as well, 15min drive to Black Mountain or Asheville.
In sum, I highly recommend this Air B&B. Sheila is great!

We had an excellent stay. My wife got to see a family of bear walk right past the kitchen sliding glass door. You are minutes from the down town area. We visited the Biltmore Estate that was awesome. The extra treats in house was a nice addition. I would definitely stay again.

This property was amazing! The owner had everything stocked from toiletries to kitchen needs. This property is pet friendly and she even had a nice basket for your pet! Amazing! Also had snacks, soda and water in fridge! This place Is the best place we have stayed in a long time! We have traveled a lot, best place by far! ❤️❤️❤️ The owner thought of everything! It is about 15-20 minutes from Asheville, but Black Mountain is just minutes away. We didn't mind the drive at all. 5-10 minutes to I-40, which will take you to Asheville, Outlet mall and other attractions! ❤️❤️❤️this place!

We really enjoyed our stay! The place was nice, clean, and homey, and stocked with just about anything you would need for your stay - including snacks & beverages, which was a great touch! Conveniently located, we could get to both Asheville and Black Mountain very quickly, but had the solace of a private location when we came back. Loved it!

What a refreshing stay! Makes one feel like they are at home! We couldn’t of been happier with the environment it’s clean, comfortable, and all the little detail touches of anything and everything you need when you’re away from home was provided. We were so tired when we arrived we made a faux pas, but the property manager was so gracious and accommodating. I would definitely return in a TikTok. If you need a base camp for Asheville and surrounding areas this is a perfect place to hang your hat.

Enjoyed watching the fall foliage changing on the mountainside in front of the rental. Plan on using wifi for cell service as there is no cell service (at least with Verizon) Very quiet and peaceful environment.

The host was so accommodating - we had a special request and she was so nice. The home was very clean and it is so well stocked that it feels like being in your own home. The snacks and waters provided were perfect and such a nice touch. Thank you for letting us stay at your cabin!

This place was a perfect spot. Even having a grocery store down the road and not to far from Asheville…. BUT there is a momma bear and her three cubs literally in the front yard where there’s only the grass spot to take your pets. We had to stay in the house until it was clear to leave and then had to look over our shoulders every time we walked outside since we had a dog and child with us. You always here there’s bears around and never see them but this time…. There really was lol! On the other hand it was pretty cool to see a bear that close but it was also scary. Definitely should be in the description especially if it’s a momma bear with her three cubs. Other then that We’d stay here again and appreciate having stuff stocked for us just in case we needed that. We were shocked by that!! Thank you for the lovely house to stay at!
