We rented this house because we stayed in a smaller duplex in Buxton last year. The remote area is nice, however, the entire experience was completely different this year. The house is old and run down with no beach access and no beach view. The house is listed on VRBO as “on the beach” and “beach view” The house is NOT on the beach, there is NO beach access and there is NOT a view of the beach. The beach access.is closed. You can illegally enter the beach near condominiums on the beach. I walked with my dogs to the beach day since I came for the beach. There is NO beach equipment. There are bugs in the house and the house moves. No kidding, the house shakes!!! I was so afraid that the house was going to fall. I called Vacasa several times to ask where I could find beach access and to request items such as Coffee, Dishwasher soap, garbage bags, toilet paper and paper towels. I never got an answer on where I could find the access to the beach and was told that each house has a “starter supply kit”. I went to the store to buy the items requested since there were none when I arrived ( two rolls of toilet paper was about all that we received) I was told that coffee is not supplied. We received a total of six towels. That was it, for a 3 bedroom house that sleeps 6- or 7 people. Someone from Vacasa showed up to the door on the afternoon prior to departure with garbage bags, Dish soap, toilet paper, paper towels. The house needs to be updated and Vacasa needs an accurate listing.

We’ve come to this property 3 times now. We love the location, cute quaint neighborhood. Great for kids, bike riding, dog walking and the great turtle pond. Close to beaches (walk and bike distance). Also close to bike or drive to local eateries and shops.

Great house! Very clean, decorated nicely. All what we were looking for. Hope to go back there next year.

Home was okay for price. Disappointed the beach access was closed (and will be for a while due to fuel contamination from the ex-Navy site) and this wasn’t communicated prior to rental period starting even though it was known.

This is a great place for a family or three guys on a fishing trip. Everything you need on one floor. The kitchen is small but has all the utensils and cook ware you need. Walking distance to the beach, close to grocery stops and restaurants. No hot tub or pool but the price is right. An outside grill would have been nice but we had a small gas one with us.

Checked in after long drive only to find that the main water line was shut off and there were no bed linens. Was able to contact property manager and eventually provided water turn on and some sheets that we were able to make work.
Property is in nice location, however, is dated and worn furniture, kitchen. After that we did enjoy the stay.

The fact it was a very small community is always a appealing factor to my choice of stays. Away from all the partying and such.

We like that it is one level once you get up the first flight of stairs. We like the location. We don't like that the rates have gone up drastically for next year preventing us from renting this house again. We have rented this house for several years with only minor increases, now with the new rental company they want to make it impossible for us to pay the new rates.

The house is well-maintained, in a good location, and in a quiet, nice neighborhood. We have dogs and especially liked the yard because it was actually grass and did not have the cacti and spiny plants that hurt their feet we have had in beach houses we've stayed at previously. The appliances were modern and the house is up-to-date and well-maintained. The deck was a great place to sit in the evenings and was in great repair. There is a pond across the street so even though you were in a neighborhood it didn't feel like you were too closed in by other houses. The pond had bass it in too and a place for kids to do a little fishing. The neighborhood was a great, safe place, with little traffic to walk the dogs each morning.
You can see glimpses of the ocean between houses, and being able to see the light of the lighthouse at night was neat. The beach is an easy walk along a paved road and also has lots of parking at the access. However, we were unaware that there are warnings at the access about submerged hazards at the nearest beach access to the house. Pipes and remnants of old sea walls are visible in the water. We did not feel safe allowing the kids to play in the surf so instead drove to Cape Hatteras National Seashore. It is barely a five-minute easy drive, has parking at the access, porta-johns, and lifeguards on duty. We really enjoyed that beach access with the lighthouse visible in the background and no beach houses along the dunes.
My only complaint was with Vacasa. I had originally booked the house under another management company I have used for several years and then the reservation was transferred (which was fine, I was notified of the change). However, everything was then pushed through the Vacasa app which had less information and details about the property listed than the original site and management company I had booked under. Most of the information was very generic and said things like "if included in your vacation home" but it was difficult to see if it was included i.e. community pool, beach access info. etc. I had also paid extra for sheets and towels, but this was not listed on the receipt and payment information that was listed in the Vacasa app. I had to call and confirm that I had ordered enough towel sets thinking I had forgotten to add them since it wasn't in my payment information. When I tried paying my remainder through the app it gave me an error and I had to call about this as well. I had also originally purchased vacation insurance, but the app specifically stated that insurance was not purchased, so I had to call and confirm this too. When I called I had purchased towels, my payment did go through even though I did not receive an in-app confirmation, and I did have insurance on file - so not impressed with the app that Vacasa pushes you to at every turn. I also called to confirm the number of beds in the twin room to work out sleeping arrangements with the kids. I was told that both twin beds were trundle beds, and I ordered 4 sets of twin sheets - this was incorrect and only one was a trundle bed so only three twin beds. This threw a wrench in the sleeping arrangements slightly with the children when we arrived. I and all my guests were also emailed a check-in time of 4PM two days prior to our check-in date, even though the app said 6PM. I had to call once again and try to confirm the actual check-in time. We were told that it was a generic, form email that was sent and check-in was not until 6PM, but we would be notified if the house was done early and an early check-in was possible. One of the guests happen to arrive an hour early, but since we had not received an early check-in notification parked on the street to wait for a notification that the house was ready. Once six o'clock and the rest of the guests arrived we attempted to go inside even though we had not received a notification of the house being ready. Everything was clea...

Such an amazing stay at this house! 14 family members with plenty of room on 4 floors to spread out but an enormous top floor with living/eating area and huge kitchen made meal times wonderfully comfortable. The kitchen was stocked to the brim with everything from a crock pot, crab pots, huge cooking pans and pots to make enough food for everyone quickly on the 6 burner conduction stove and 2 ovens. The piece de resistance, however, was the absolutely stunning front row sunset seen right out of the living room windows over the sound. The house is very secluded with the closest neighbor being across the street so it is very quiet when sitting on one of the 4 decks off the sound side of the house. Small beachy area right at the end of the boardwalk that runs next to the house (about a 1/3 mile walk). Took a chair and a book one day and camped out there instead of driving to the beach. Would rent this house again in a heartbeat! -via VRBO This review was submitted while the home was managed by a different property management company.

November can be rough with cold, wind, and rain. We got in a couple awesome days fishing out on Ramp 43 and 44 before a nor’easter ran us off. Fishing in November is always good but you risk bad weather. The house, Cape Point, worked out just fine. Cape Point is perfect for a couple guys on a fishing trip. It has what you need, is neat and clean, a great location for fishing the Point. Would also be good for a small family, nice quiet neighborhood in the shadow of Hatteras Lighthouse.
