About this apartment rental
Come enjoy a stay at the Studio Apartment in our detached garage. The apartment is located in our driveway. Relax on the small patio with outdoor furniture and gas fireplace. In the summer, you will find a picnic table near the apartment to enjoy meals outdoors. Launch your boat, kayak, or canoe at the nearby boat launch and explore the river! Park your boat at our dock during your stay. We do have a steep trail down to the river, but recommend guests access the river from the park nearby unless using our dock during their stay.
Dock available by short walk down road and steep trail through woods June 2023!
We like to give our guests privacy, but are generally available to help as things come up!
We highly recommend AWD for winter guests.
We are minutes from Mont du Lac ski hill and recreation area. Mont du Lac offers skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, snowshoeing, and snow tubing at their OUTTA BOUNDS tubing park. In the summer, Mont du Lac offers Big River Tubing, Big Kahuna waterpark, Big Timber Playground, the Slooper Slide, disc golf, archery, mountain biking, the bark park, a pristine, sandy beach, and a marina with jet ski and watercraft rentals in the summer.
Jay Cooke State Park is right across the river! At Jay Cooke, you will find cross country ski trails, mountain biking trails, hiking, The Willard Munger State Trail, Grand Portage Trail, Oldenburg Overlook, the river gourge, and The Swinging Bridge.
We are also near the Superior Hiking Trail Terminus and an echo chamber at a Veterans Memorial.

Thank you for hosting us! Your place is adorable and tucked away. It was so quiet! Much better than a hotel. Thank you for accommodating our awkward schedule due to the soccer tournament!

This as a quaint little apartment far away from the hubbub of a big city. It was the perfect getaway for my husband and I to settle down and relax! It had everything we needed!

The quaint home was nestled by the river in the trees. It was close to Duluth but just far enough to escape the hustle and bustle. Scout was a joy and came for a visit. Jay Cooke State Park is a must. This was a perfect spot for a couple wanting to explore the North Shores. Highly recommend !

We absolutely loved our stay here! It was perfect for two people and it was so quiet and cozy! We came up for Grandma's Marathon weekend and it was perfect because it wasn't super far from Duluth, but also out of the way enough that we could "escape" the festivities when we were done. :) The kitchen and access to laundry made it even better. The fire pit was great also and we loved meeting our hosts' puppy, Scout! Thanks so much!

We loved staying here. We enjoyed hanging out with the new puppy scout. It had everything we needed. The boat launch was nice and close and easy to get to. Nora and Tom had a great book with lots of maps for both the river and hiking. I recommend everyone go to the Veterans memorial overlook. Stand in the middle of the circle and talk. You can hear yourself in stereo (echo) but no one else can. Its a phenomenon.

This studio cabin was exactly as listed. It had been stocked with everything and even spare toothbrushes and make up wipes which I appreciated! Perfect for a quick weekend get away and Tom & Nora responded quickly every time and were awesome. The restaurant recommendations were spot on and Tom was very helpful with the information he provided us as first time fishermen on the St Louis River. Very affordable and comfortable. I highly recommend!

My husband and I stayed for 2 days for our 35th Anniversary. The studio was very clean, bed was great, good pillows, quiet, and close to the things we wanted to do. My only complaint… not really a complaint, is the advertisement showed a dock, said it was on the river. I thought we could just bring our chairs out and enjoy the river. That is not the case. You have to go through their yard, down a steep embankment, to see it. Not ideal for our age. One TV situation was not good, but we made in through. It was clean and comfy.

My husband and I came to town for our son’s wedding. We were pleasantly surprised when we checked into the rental! Everything was absolutely spotless, the bed was more than comfortable, and the owners had provided every necessity we could have imagined! When we needed help with something, Nora and Tom were there within minutes! We loved how it was tucked back into the woods but only miles from Gary New Duluth! Our stay was amazing and we will be checking for availability the next trip we head north! Thank you Nora and Tom for your hospitality and friendliness!

The apartment was such a lovely experience to stay at. The placed has a very charming atmosphere and offers so much. There is a lot to offer much of it we did not get to partake in during the two days that were spent there. You will not be disappointed in this option and on top of that the price is so affordable. We plan to be back so and hopefully for many years to come.

Super cute, cozy and clean space.
Nora and Tom are excellent hosts and have been so accommodating!
This space is outside of the city so it offers up privacy, but it has the comforting feel of a small town.
