our 2nd stay.
we felt very welcome.
The cottage is very comfortable and clean.
it is well equipped.
beautiful views and quiet atmosphere.
4.7
Friendly owners who gave welcome treats. It is a working horse training farm, with chickens and play area for kids.
The weather (haha).
4.7
On arrival we were greeted by the owner, Anne, who is lovely. There was a welcome pack of treats and the property was spotless! The view across fields to the tarn is gorgeous. The lodges are situated close to the stables where the neighbours are several beautiful horses! There were chucks and an occasional pheasant wandering past the window and sheep in the fields, it was lovely to just sit and gaze at the view. The king-size bedroom looked very inviting but we opted for the ground floor twin singles because the prospect of maneuvering the spiral staircase to the loo during the night didn't appeal. Overall it's a beautiful place for a quiet break, with good walks/fishing nearby.
Not a criticism, just a little advice....It is quite isolated so make sure you shop before you arrive. There's a fridge with small freezer compartment in the lodge but also a larger freezer you can use, in a nearby shed.

Lovely rural location, spacious and peaceful, with friendly owner, perfect for our trip to Vindolanda and the Roman Army Museum, as well as the Astronomy Evening at Twice Brewed where we got to view the rings of Saturn through a telescope.

It's remote.
Incredible views.
Super nice owners.
The town is just a few minutes away.
Fresh eggs from the Chickens outside your door.
The Cockerell doesn't wake up till 0700 and then gives you a snooze till about 0715.
Lovely to walk around.
Wood burner and loads of wood.
Had red wine and fresh eggs waiting for me on arrival.
So lovely and quiet.
There's nothing I didn't like about this incredible little place.

Very well appointed and clean. What a view when I looked out the window in the morning, beautiful racehorses having their morning exercise. If you're a horse lover, Tarnside is a little slice of paradise. The cottage is welcoming as are the horses!

There are lovely views from the front and side of ground floor and from the double bedroom upstairs. The log burner is easy to use and provides a lovely glow and good level of warmth. The property is well maintained, was lovely and clean and there is plenty of crockery and cooking utensils. The log burner had been lit ready for our arrival and was lovely to walk in to! There was a complimentary bottle of wine chilling in the fridge and biscuits near the kettle.

Very spacious, comfortable & warm. Loved the log burner & sheltered outdoor space. Friendly host. Great to see the chickens & horses. Very handy for visiting Talkin Tarn.
Could do with some minor DIY

Nice location.
Owners dogs on premises wondering around up to our lodge. We were sitting out having lunch one day when it appeared greeding and wouldn't go away (while my own dog was locked in a crate inside the property).

The beautiful Talkin Tarn is literally on the doorstep for glorious morning walks. Hosts lovely and the welcome pack was a nice gesture. Super dog friendly.
