About this villa rental
The 400 year-old heritage property has been fully restored and modernised to provide all the comforts of 21st century living, while retaining all the charm of its long history. Located high up on the Lustica peninsula, the villa has dramatic, 180-degree views of the Bay of Kotor and the twin massifs of the Orjen and Lovcen mountains, and is nestled on a peaceful hillside surrounded by olive groves, small stone hamlets and fishing villages.
This villa features a seasonal outdoor 10m salt pool, dry cleaning, and laundry facilities. Free WiFi and parking are also provided. Additionally, a garden, barbecue grills, and a private pool are on site. The villa benefits from a daily housekeeping service.
This villa offers 5 air-conditioned bedrooms, which are accessible via separate entrances and feature private en-suites and safes. Each bedroom is individually decorated with a combination of English and continental antique and contemporary furniture.
There is a large sitting room with comfortable sofas, and a wood burning stove, a spacious and modern kitchen dining room comfortably seating 12, and a sizeable first floor veranda for outdoor dining, with stunning views onto the rural landscape and the sea beyond.
The terraced garden, which is planted with typical Mediterranean plans, herbs and trees, includes a 10 meter infinity pool, a large stone paved sun terrace, and a shady pergola made from parts of the original wooden olive press that was in use until less than twenty years ago. The pergola also includes a basic summer kitchen with fridge and BBQ.
Guests will not want to leave this stunning hillside sanctuary, but should they want to, the medieval UNESCO protected seaside fortress town of Kotor, the idyllic Venetian republic maritime towns of Rose and Perast, and the glitz of Porto Montenegro, Europe's largest super-yacht marina, with its clubs, boutiques, spas and restaurants, are all a short drive away. The house is well served by local restaurants serving fresh local fish and seafood and supermarkets, and there are several beaches within a 15 minute drive.
The villa is a perfect get away location in the autumn/winter "off season" with a wood burning stove, a well stocked wood-shed, first class bedding/ soft furnishings shipped from London, and a variety of mountain walks/hiking nearby ( as well as skiing in the mountains to the North).

Great Villa, Great Location, Impressive Country!
This is a really nice villa in a quiet location – lots of character and very well equipped. We were a party of 10 and had a great stay here. The outside space met our high expectations, with great views along the Kotor peninsula. The pool was a bit chilly (as one would expect in May) but after a couple of brisk lengths it was fine! There were enough loungers for all the party and space to move them around to face the sun all day. The housekeeping service was a bonus, Marija called in twice a day and was discreet and efficient.
The owners, William and Jonathan sent out some very comprehensive information on the Villa and local amenities prior to our arrival which was very helpful, and they contacted us via email during our stay to check all was ok. There was a couple of little things we needed assistance with and that was taken care of immediately – thank you!
We were very impressed with Montenegro; it is a stunning country! There’s plenty enough to see and do: Tivat harbour with the super-yachts and waterfront restaurants, Kotor Old Town, etc and there’s some very decent local restaurants.
Overall, our holiday was a big success and Villa Stari was an excellent choice

Amazing in every way.
Wonderful stay at an amazing villa. The views from the pool and outdoor seating area are mesmerising. The way the villa is laid out makes it feel like a boutique hotel, with seperate bedrooms, each with an ensuite every room as lovely as the others. The villa was so well equipped with everything we needed & a great bbq which we enjoyed on a few occassions. Marija the housekeeper was also a great addition to the villa, she went above and beyond to help us on a couple of occassions and it was great to have our rooms and the communal areas cleaned each day. Montenegro is a great country we saw lots of different things and went on some great day trips. Includung to nearby Kotor, Budva, Lake Skadar, a local olive oil tasting, porto montenegro and explored the lustica peninsular, so even though we visited out of season, and the weather wasn’t great there was so much to see & do. The villa owners also provided a great guide about the villa and surrounding area with lots of recommendations that we used. Our whole party loved our stay & cannot imagine staying at a nicer villa anywhere.

Stylish spacious Mill with exquisite views
Old mill which has been tastefully refurbished with all mod cons, and well equipped, with all bedrooms comfortable. All you could want from a villa, with panaromic view of almost the entire Kotor bay. Clean and well maintained by friendly but unobtrusive housekeeper. Car needed for access, but all amenities and popular sites easily accessible.
There are few villas I would consider revisiting, but this is probably top of the list.

It well exceeded our expectations
Villa Stari Miln has been beautifully renovated and is very comfortable with stunning views across the Bay of Kotor and only 30 minutes from the airport at Tivat.
There is lots to explore (Kotor is a World Heritage site) and many very good fish restuarants within easy reach. The flora is particularly diverse. The maid service is exceptional and we couldn't recommend it more highly.

Tastefully refurbished property on the peninsula on the bay of Kotor
Excellent venue, stylishly refurbished, with all mod-cons and exceptional views of the surrounding bay. Car essential. House and grounds immaculately clean and cared for by very friendly, but unobtrusive lady caretaker. Comprehensive guide on the local surrounds and places to visit. Particularly recommend the local tour or the local olive grower, and other suggestions by the owners. One of the rare places we have stayed in that we would go back to.

Photos don't do it justice
The house and grounds are immaculate, the view superb, the location fantastic, everything you could want is provided and the owners are a pleasure to deal with. I'm not sure if we will ever be able to top this vacation.

Fabulous villa, views, and location
This is a very comfortable and well furnished villa. The views of the Bay of Kotor are outstanding. It is in a quiet and beautiful location close to to the pretty seaside village of Rose. The local housekeeper was very helpful and conscientious. The owners put us in touch with a local chef who cooked a special birthday meal for us. A unique and special place.

Beautiful property with incredible view
Very well appointed property with excellent views over the bay. Well looked after by the owners and cleaned daily throughout our stay. Probably one of the best villa stays we have had.

Large comfortable property with stunning views and great pool
We have spent a splendid and happy two weeks at Villa Stari Mlin. We echo all the previous comments about the fantastic position with the most sumptuous views of the bay of Kotor. The house, too, as others have said, it very well appointed, very comfortable and very permissive of a large group relaxing and enjoying themselves together. We had quite a lot of thunderstorms for which the villa provides grandstand viewing (and transient power outages). We found it tricky to get anywhere such as beaches and towns in the times quoted in the housebook and the comments of others’ simply because at this time of year the roads were very slow. This is no place for nervous drivers!
The gardens are beautiful, lovely herbs, lots of butterflies, incredible fresh figs. The swimming pool does indeed have amazing views and Marija is quietly attentive and cheerful. If you are catering for yourselves, supermarkets are well stocked but a drive away. William and Jonathan are fantastic, being so responsive and helpful.

Beautiful villa with stunning views
Location, location, location. The 180 degree views are stunning. We had a lovely refreshing break in this luxuriously comfortable villa. What a treat to have a pool a few strides from our beds for an early morning wake-up swim. We visited Kotor and Rose and went on a boat trip. Montenegro is charming. I would definitely go back to the villa and highly recommend it. So much thought has been put into its restoration in order to preserve its charm.

Breathtaking!
The pictures do not do this place justice! I spent a wonderful week here with friends and family and could not speak highly enough of its facilities, location, and upkeep. A special shout out to Maria and family! Initially what seemed a little isolated you soon realise you are an ideal location for day trips to Tivat, Kotor and budva amongst others, while for me the real charm of this villa is its location on the lustica peninsula. Spectacular views, excellent nearby restaurants and beautiful weather, what more could you ask for. I will be talking about the place for years to come. Thank you to William and Jonathan for such an amazing experience.

Great family stay
We had a very enjoyable stay and enjoyed some good weather. The villa was beautifully decorated yet comfortable with ample space for the ten of us. We had a great time in the Villa and and out of it exploring the beautiful costal towns and landscapes nearby. Thanks for the stay.

Beautiful house with a spectacular view
Spent a memorable few days here with a group of friends – my first but definitely not last visit to Montenegro! The villa is a historic farmhouse that has been sympathetically converted and decorated tastefully and luxuriously by Jonathan and William. It has the feel of a high-end boutique hotel but with all the seclusion and homeliness of a private house.
The surrounding area is utterly stunning, with the villa well placed to soak it all in. Located on a hillside, it overlooks the bay with mountains in the background. The pool is in a particularly dramatic position and you may feel you don't want to move from it. Would definitely recommend a trip to the nearby fishing village of Rosé for lunch though!

Stunning Views, Peaceful Isolation, Home Comforts.
I loved my stay here, it was truly wonderful. From floating in the pool looking at the stars, to enjoying boozy dinners on the terrace, each day was a delight. The location is simply incredible with wondrous views. The villa itself is extremely well appointed, I haven't slept so well in years. The only problem is the place is so lovely, you almost hate to go and see the sights, of which there are many. There is nothing better than coming back to Villa Stari Mlin, having a dip in the pool and drying yourself off with one of the luxury towels. Can't wait to visit again.

Exquisite escape
I’m a return guest and cannot recommend the villa highly enough. The views overlooking the peninsula are uniquely exquisite. Our party of 10 spent a week soaking up the views poolside (the weather at the start of October was glorious). All of the bedrooms are comfortable, the kitchen stylish and spacious, and the adjoining living room tastefully furnished. We enjoyed candle lit dinners on the terrace most evenings – and took advantage of a fabulous private chef Jonathan arranged for us. There’s plenty to explore in the surrounding area. Nearby Forte Rose is a must. Thanks for another wonderful stay.

We picked this villa as an event venue and didn't regret once about it! Perfectly located on its own big territory with breathtaking view over the bay. Very well equipped, extremely stylishly decorated, comfy and cozy. Hosts were very cool and helpful. Highly recommend.
