About this cottage rental
Summary:
This gorgeous country cottage and adjoining boatshed sleep eight in total, making it the perfect spot for a family get together by the coast. You're in walking distance of Gorran Haven beach and there's private parking spots for two vehicles. The main house is a beautiful blend of traditional and contemporary, with ample space for all to feast and relax. Sit back with your feet up in the living room and get the wood burner roaring, or enjoy sociable meals in the light and bright dining room.
The Space:
The cottage and boatshed are available to book together, sleeping eight guests in total across the two. There are three bedrooms in the cottage and an additional king-size bed in the boatshed.
The modern kitchen has everything you need to cater for all: an hob, oven, built-in microwave, dishwasher and ample cooking utensils. On warm days, nothing beats flinging open the French doors for views out of the garden or firing up the BBQ and cooking the day's catch. The cottage sleeps six guests across three bedrooms: the master has a king-size bed, whilst the other two rooms have twin beds and bunk beds. Please note, the upstairs bathroom and bunk bedroom are accessed via the king size bedroom and is suitable for children only. There is also a modern family bathroom with a shower and bath as well as an additional WC en-suite upstairs.
Tucked away in a peaceful corner of the garden, you will find the boatshed which sleeps an additional two. Not only has it been finished to a high standard, you're also blessed with uninterrupted views of the sea and a private terrace from which to enjoy them. There is a well-equipped kitchen with a hob and oven, a pull-down king-size bed, plenty of clothes storage plus an en-suite with a shower. It's a great spot for the grandparents or those in need of little privacy. There is free private parking on the drive for two vehicles.
You'll also find a smart TV in the living room with Apps (own logins required).
Guest Access:
Guests will have exclusive access to the cottage and boatshed.
The Neighborhood:
The cottage is perfectly situated to explore the best of South Cornwall. You're just a two-minute walk from the quaint harbour of Gorran Haven, where there is a sandy beach and a wall for fishing off - or for jumping at high tide! At low tide, you can walk round to Little Perhaver beach, a beautiful, secluded cove perfect for rock pooling. The waters at both beaches are normally very calm and safe for swimming. This also makes perfect conditions for kayaking and stand up paddle boarding, which you can hire from the beach.
There is also a fish and chips shop, a local bakery and shop as well as a beach hut serving food. Although there is no pub in the village itself, Cakebreads has a covered outdoor bar selling fresh local ale or lager and a variety of cocktails in the summer and also serves tasty breakfasts and lunches. And if it’s a traditional local pub you’re after, head to the Barley Sheaf just up the road in Gorran Churchtown. In the Summer you can enjoy a large beer garden and there is also a fantastic restaurant, run by renowned chef Tim Kendall. The Llawnroc Hotel is also a lovely spot for food and cream teas!
For the hikers, there are stunning coastal paths traversing most of the South Cornwall coast line. The property is on the South West Coast Path (a 630 mile adventure around the coastline of England’s South West peninsula), our favourite of which is the walk to the historic Dodman's Point. On the way you will pass Vault Beach - one of Cornwall's best kept secrets! This mile long stretch of white sand is the perfect escape from the summer crowds. Other great local beaches include Caerhays beach and castle and the quieter Hemmick. Both can be reached via coastal paths if you are feeling adventurous. In the other direction, you can take a beautiful walk to the next fishing village, Portmelon, where you can enjoy a pint and chips on the water front.
For those with transport, the larger fishing village of Mevagissey is well worth a visit. Here you can find ample gift shops with local crafts and produce, pubs serving real ale and lots of great cafes, takeaways and restaurants. Other notable local activities include the stunning Lost Gardens of Heligan and The Eden Project.
Getting Around:
Due to the remote nature of Cornwall we would highly recommend bringing a car to make the most of your time here. There is free private parking on the drive for two vehicles. If you require additional parking, the local car park is only 5 minutes walk and is quite reasonable. A 24 hour ticket costs £6 (shorter stays also available), and 7 days costs £35. In low season, parking on the road opposite the village shops is also free and unrestricted. There is also free parking available on the outskirts of town all year round.
Other Things to Note:
There is a desk space in the smaller reception room for those on a working holiday.
Guests should be aware that the stair case is open and there is a hard slate floor at the bottom of it. Please be aware of this if you have mobile babies and young children.
The boatshed is suitable for immobile infants, however the decking is dangerous for mobile infants so they regrettably are not allowed.
Interaction with Guests:
We will be available via message, email and phone during your stay. Any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch!
