Location. Friendly staff
Bathroom door was bad. Didn't close. The toilet seat was loose. AC stopped working at the other room.
Every time you want to access the front door, you need to ring the bell. It's a bit annoying.

Great location of the hotel. A lot of businesses nearby. Staff are good.
Could hear everything from the other room next door. Breakfast is not that good.

Staff were amazing! One of our children was not well and the lady was so helpful with telling us where the nearest pharmacy and hospital were and finding someone to translate into English for us! She bought us warm blankets straight out of the dryer at night time and was so kind, muchas gracias!! The location is very central to everything. Breakfast was good, enough to fill us up. Beds were comfortable, shower was hot and wifi was decent :)
Room layout wasn't quite what we were expecting but the beds were comfortable.

Everything! Bed comfortable and clean room, breakfast in the morning with sweets, toast and marmelade. The owner was really kind, helped me finding a taxi the next day to go to the airport after my taxi reservation canceled on me at last minute. Good location 5 mn by foot from the center. I highly recommend!

I left before breakfast as I needed to get to the airport. The drain in the shower was blocked and the overall condition of the bathroom was not great.
The bathroom could have been a lot better

fantastic location, such lovely ladies they are so kind and happy to help, breakfast was excellent we were full up every morning, and the room and beds were so comfortable too. it’s so nice here for the price we actually extended our stay and plan to return in a few weeks before leaving Costa Rica!

The staff seemed nice enough when I finally talked to them but they still have not refunded my money
I arrived at midnight with my four young nephews and no one came to answer the door. We rang the bell and our taxi driver called the property several times but no one answered. It felt very unsafe at night being outside with my nephews. Luckily the hotel next door was open and able to take us for twice the price. The next day I went back to El Tucan and was told they didn’t know what happened but they agreed to refund my money. One month later I still have not received a refund.

I was looking for a place just to spend the night. We arrived at the place around 7:00 pm and left around 9:00 am. It took us about 6 minutes by uber to get to the airport. Breakfast is simple but very tasty, enough to start the day. When we arrived, we ate a pizza at a pizzeria just a few meters away. I recommend it to everyone.

The breakfast was very good, but we did have to walk four blocks for it. But the walk was also nice and the breakfast place was great.

The Hotel is nice located in the middle of the town. The people were nice, but we had some issues with the language.
We had some language issues which was not that easy to fix. The rooms has no windows, which is ok for one or two nights.

I stayed for three nights and was very pleased. Especially Ruth tried everything to make my stay as good as possible. She helped me book a trip to Poás and even put a lot of extra effort in it when there were problems with the payment. She also has tips for some nice places to eat. The other staff was very friendly as well.
Breakfast is at a place about 2 minutes down the street. I got a coffee, a plate with some eggs, bread and rice and beans and a second plate with fresh fruit every morning.
The bed was comfy. There's a blanket in the room if it gets cold at night.
The hotel is right in the city center, the church, the museum, the park and some ATMs are not more than 5 minutes away. A mini market to grab some water is right across the street.

Getting off the plane and to this room was quick and easy. Think it was about a 5 minute car ride. Considering i'd never been to costa rica before I was pleased at how easy it was to find. The room i booked was interesting. Its as the picture describes. Sliding glass doors are the entrance to the room. It has curtains for privacy. The bathroom worked. We had hot water for showers. The beds were comfortable.
Breakfast is done off site down the street. breakfast was awesome. Parking is done across the street at a paid parking garage.
The sliding glass doors do not give you a huge sense of privacy and it lets the noise come through. overall most people do there best to be very quiet. parking offsite is paid and i didn't understand that.

I have stayed at many places in Alajuela over my 20 or so trips to CR. It is an excellent first/ last day location. This place was ok. It is a couple blocks from the main square, near supermarkets and not too far from bus terminals (5 min.) The rooms are small and have sliding glass doors as the front of the room. It seemed a little sketchy at first. However, the fan was powerful, the bed was fairly comfortable, and the place was quiet. Breakfast was free, but at a place down the street. So overall, it was ok or a night but I think there are better options if you aren't just passing through.
