About this cottage rental
Heather Cottage is a single-level self-catering seaside cottage located a matter of feet from the picture perfect Port St Mary Harbour in the south of the Isle of Man.
The cottage has been transformed from a traditional Manx cottage to a light and airy holiday cottage, whilst retaining its charm. Bi-fold doors open out onto a decking area where guests can enjoy their breakfast or a BBQ looking out towards sea. The garden at the rear of the property can be a real suntrap, especially as it is sheltered from the wind!
The main social area is open plan, containing the living room with comfortable seating, the kitchen and a dining table which seats four.
The two bedrooms benefit from having an en-suite each, making Heather Cottage ideal for a small family or a couple's getaway! Bring your dog too as it's a pet friendly holiday cottage!
Port St Mary's welcoming community also contains some small independent shops, cafes, restaurants and a friendly harbourside pub.

Very well done modernised cottage in a good quiet location near the harbour. No problem with parking outside and within easy reach of shops/cafes etc.

I use comfy beds, as this is what was the selling point that finally got me to book it.
But it also is steps away from harbour, 15 minute walk along a walk way to the beach so has lovely views. Then from beach it is 2 min walk to coop, chemists, post office, excellent Chinese takeaway, plus others. (You could get to shops from road but I didn't want to).
Walk other way, 3 mins, and you can start coastal walk, I didn't get very far that way because I got way laid by excellent swimming spot where I could jump in off rocks and swim (a local man did give me some tips to get best spot for that).
The cottage had been modernised, garden vibrant and sun trap in morning, it has large patio doors that give lovely views of surrounding hills and water, boats do get in way of sea views but I could still see when tide was in or out.
When we arrived the kitchen had been stocked with local butter, milk, cheese, bread as well as a few teabags and coffee bags.

Great location and so pretty. Cottage is lovely, has all you need and a luxury feel. Plenty of room. We will be back.

A cosy cottage in the harbour overlooking the boats. Beautifully presented and extremely clean. Close to Port St Mary facilities. We particularly loved the Boathouse restaurant, which we highly recommend. It offers delicious food with a warm and friendly welcome. As does the Albert pub a 3 minute walk away.

really enjoyed the area, locals were very friendly. great location as it was very quite with local walks and easy to get out and about.
Nice Italian restaurant nearby and nice local crab available within 100 yards.

What a deceptive cottage, from the outside it looks small but that is deceptive and inside it has been beautifully designed and thought out. It is modern with lots of little details that made it easy to stay and feel like home. It was spotlessly clean and with the large bifold doors and skylights light and airy. The garden was a real sun trap and the easy parking outside made it effortless to stay there. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

Lovely property in a great location, however the information book was a bit sparse, it didn't tell you what to do with rubbish to be recycled and no instructions how to use the boiling water tap. The bed was extremely soft making uncomfortable. There also no ability to open the sky light.

The cottage seems to have been recently refurbished to a high standard everywhere was spotless, the beds were large and comfortable. Both bedrooms had it's own excellent shower ( better than my own at home) and toilet, plenty of towels were supplied. Kitchen was well equipped with everything you could need for a self catered holiday. Some basic provisions had been supplied which was a nice touch, bread milk cheese etc. Lovely private garden with seating looking out onto the boats. No designated parking spot but never had a problem parking on the rd. outside. Port St Mary is a very quiet area there is proper traditional pub the Albert, with friendly staff just a few minutes walk away by the harbour. If you like quiet place to stay then i highly recommend Heather cottage it's just gorgeous.

Exceptionally clean and well presented. Excellent location and we thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks at the cottage.
However:-
Issue with oven door which was extremely dangerous and not fixed.
For a property advertised as mobility friendly - step from decking to garden path extremely high. A proper ramp should be in place as well as at step before garden gate.
All seating provided was very low and as a disabled person found this very difficult to use.
Quooker tap did not provide boiling water for hot drinks. Kettle had to be used at all times. Kettle too small and took a long time to boil.
Fridge/Freezer - suggest space should be found for a larger one.
An empty cupboard in kitchen would have been useful

Heather cottage is small but has had the best use of the space with sliding doors etc. The fully retractable garden doors were perfect as our weather was great. We had every thing we needed. Couldn't master the Quooker tap but there was a kettle provided so it didn't matter. Quite a trek each day if you stay for the TT but a lovely quiet part of the island.

Well equipped, recently rennovated cottage in a lovely location. Easy parking. Would happily return.

All communication with Island Escapes was clear, informative and helpful. The accommodation was exactly how described with everything needed for our stay. Only one recommendation would be to upgrade the beds/mattresses in the twin room to make more comfortable. But overall a fantastic cottage in an ideal location. Would definitely stay again.

Heather Cottage has been renovated to a high standard. Port St Mary is lovely and we enjoyed some great walks in the south of the island. All in all we had a good week despite the stormy weather.
The open plan living space works really well and great for entertaining friends and family on the island. Not sure about the effectiveness of the heating system but house seemed very well insulated. Island Escapes very helpful. Beds in the second bedroom rather uncomfortable.

We enjoyed our stay at the beautifully renovated Heather Cottage. Short walk into the town to the shops and places to eat. Andrea’s is a very nice Italian restaurant. Lots of beautiful walks nearby. Situated in a very quiet area of Port St Mary by the harbour. Very helpful people at Island Escapes to sort out any problems.

Great location and very well modernised to a high standard. Good ensuites too. Could do with a grab handle in the showers, I was fine but my parents are very elderly so mother didn't shower for 2 days we were here. Quooker hot tap needs clear instructions. I had to Google instructions as those in the cottage aren't helpful. Great garden area, beautifully maintained but unfortunately the bifold doors were broken but James managed a temporary fix on our 2nd day so thanks for that. We won't be back to this cottage though as it now doesn't accept pets and we are dog owners.

We loved Heather Cottage and we love Port st Mary, and hopefully we will return. One small criticism: as elderly people we had difficulties operating the cooker and the boiling water tap. An on/off switch for the cooker, and a kettle instead of the tap would have been helpful.

Beautiful modernised cottage in a lovely location
My husband and myself with our dogs stayed here for a 4 night staycation while we were having work done in our house.
Access via key safe, very straightforward
Lovely welcome pack of bread, butter, biscuits, milk etc
The cottage has been renovated to a high standard and has all you need for a relaxing stay, lovely comfy beds and the best shower I’ve ever used!
The open plan living, dining and kitchen areas are very comfortable and tastefully furnished with a fully fitted kitchen area.
The garden has decking and a seating area & has been gravelled with lots of lovely plants and shrubs, we kept the door open all the time as it’s such a lovely view of the boats and ( distant) sea.
We had our 2 small dogs with us who loved being in the safe garden, however the decking is a bit high for them to access and we had the odd tumble off when the enthusiasm was too much ( the dogs not me!)
If it hadn’t been fully booked we’d have extended our stay and will definitely be returning.
