About this apartment rental

Welcome to your own quiet oasis in the city. This 2 bd/1ba basement apartment sits on 2 acres and backs to Accotink Creek and Fairfax County parkland. Inside, you'd never suspect it's a basement unit due to the abundance of light pouring in its oversized windows. An open floor plan, huge comfy leather couch, and 65' smart TV make it easy to spend time together. The primary bdrm has a Tempurpedic mattress, TV, walk-in closet, and bay window. A W/D is located in the 2nd bdrm's walk-in closet.

This approximately 1700 SQFT apartment has it's own private entrance facing the private backyard that is accessed by steps leading down from the driveway.

You enter into the huge open-concept living/dining/kitchen area. A large desk is tucked to the side of the entryway.

The living room has a huge u-shaped La-Z-Boy leather couch with plenty of seating. It faces the wood-burning fireplace and 65' smart TV with access to live TV and your favorite streaming services. If more than 4 guests, a twin or queen-sized tri-fold memory foam mattress and folding bedframe can be set up in the living room. Please stipulate in your reservation which bed size is preferred.

The kitchen has it ALL! It includes a full-size, dual-zone oven with electric cooktop, full-size refrigerator, sink, microwave, Ninja coffeemaker, french press, coffee, blender, mixer, crock pot, bakeware, spices, oil & vinegar, and plenty of pots, pans, dishes, glasses (wine and water), and tupperware. Plates and glasses especially for children and for eating outdoors are also included.

The handmade solid wood dining table and chairs offer plenty of space for 6 people.

The large primary bedroom is the perfect retreat. Enjoy a good night's sleep on the king-sized Tempurpedic mattress perched on a beautiful, antique, hand-carved, solid wood frame. Looking out the large bay window to the tree-lined backyard, you'd never know you were in the middle of the city. You'll have plenty of space for your clothing in the dresser and oversized walk-in closet. Lastly, the wall-mounted smart TV pulls out to provide the perfect viewing angle from the bed or sofa.

The cozy second bedroom is located in the house interior and does not have any windows. However, it is well lit and includes a trundle-bed dresser, and walk-in closet with a washer and dryer.

Finally, outside on the porch, you can kick back at your teak patio table while using your Weber grill. If you are feeling especially spunky, you can make your way down the path to Accotink Creek. IMPORTANT, the path down to the creek is steep and slippery after it rains. The walk takes about 5 minutes. Please be careful. Once you make it down, you can enjoy a short walk, swim, rock scramble, or just relax on one of the giant boulders or small sandy banks. You can even try your hand at fishing, though we haven't had the best luck actually "catching."

The Urban Oasis has it all but if you want to venture out, a wide variety of shopping, dining, and entertainment opportunities await. Additionally, we are located about 10 minutes from the Springfield-Franconia Metro (which offers daily parking for $5) and as little as 20 minutes from the Pentagon and DC.

We are constantly working on updates to the apartment between guests. Check back to see what's new. Coming soon... dishwasher, new cabinets, and new paint in the living area and bathroom.

**PETS**
Pets will be approved on a case-by-case basis. There is a $50/pet/stay fee and an additional $200 refundable pet deposit. Payment for 2+ pets and pet deposit will be collected after the booking is confirmed through the booking platform. The deposit will be refunded within 24 hours of checkout if no damages are identified. No animals with a history of aggression or property destruction are permitted. Unattended pets must be crated/caged. Dogs must be leashed when outside on the property. This is a private basement apartment located in a shared home, as such it is not a good fit for loud animals.

**GUEST ACCESS**
Guests have private access to the apartment unit and the porch area underneath the upper deck. The backyard is a shared space but the front yard is for owner use only and is where our dog spends her time when she's outside.

**MISC**
Please note, we have a well-behaved 60 lb dog that is often outside but always supervised. You can see a picture of her in one of the photos. She will likely bark when you arrive and is a little timid however she is harmless and very friendly once she gets to know you.

While we are relatively quiet, this is a basement apartment. Expect to hear a few footsteps and the occasional dog bark when someone comes to the front door.

We hope to host you soon! If you have any questions about the area, don't hesitate to reach out. Amy is a real estate agent who loves sharing information about her city.

Well-stocked and maintained lower-level property. Very comfortable, with huge windows overlooking a spacious, beautifully-treed backyard. Quiet neighborhood.

We had a great stay and would go back in a heartbeat. Lots of space, and everything was exactly as shown. We ate at the outside table and loved the view of trees and all the spring birdsong. We hiked to the stream and the kids played in the water. Easy trip to Mount Vernon and DC.

We rented this property with the intention of having our daughter stay with us, and perhaps our granddaughters stay with us. Unfortunately, various circumstances kept the guests to just the two of us. It is a large property for only two people, but very pleasant. My initial discomfort with staying in someone’s basement was short lived - once you are in the room you can hear occasional noise from upstairs, but not enough to be a concern. The path behind the house to the unit is well lit, and the view from the patio doors makes you feel quite secluded.

This vrbo is lovely! Spacious, comfortable, clean. We had everything we needed. It’s also in a great location for day trips - we took several (east to Alexandria, north into DC, and west). Amy and Owen are great hosts - we mostly communicated with Amy, who was very responsive to our questions and requests both before and during our stay.
