Very Good hotel in central Oxford

Clean. Nice service. Old room except bathroom.

Fine but very small and basic room

Nice hotel, very close to train station and bus terminal. Excellent shopping and dining options just down the road. Close to many historical buildings.
6.0
A bit on the expensive side for what you get. UK is very inconsistent when it comes to have a price standard for lodgings.
5.0
Stayed here because of location to the train station.

The property is located right next to a delicious restaurant, and the property is very close to the train station! This was very important for us as older women, traveling by rail around the country! We were delighted to see the hotel as we were leaving the station! The staff was super friendly and helpful in every way. We really appreciated the help getting our luggage upstairs! Thank you so much! We highly recommend the Royal Oxford to all travelers!

Hotel is very close to train station and within walking distance of most things you’d like to see in Oxford. There’s no lift but staff will help you carry luggage up the stairs. Rooms are clean and bathrooms are big. It’s not luxury, but it’s clean, comfortable & close to everything. I’d definitely stay again.
8.0
Although right by the station which was convenient but had a room over the entrance of sainsbury and the main road. There was late night noise outside, and construction work early in the morning. Not hotels fault, but maybe double glazing may have helped.

Great hotel with great staff. Perfect location with comfortable and clean rooms.

Well appointed spot right near the train station. We’re kind enough to hold my bags until the room was ready, then carried them up the flights to my room. Room was simple, but comfortable. lovely chocolates left on the pillows. Sits above a neighborhood bar, so it was quite rowdy at night.

windows could not be opened and air conditioning had to be used constantly.

The beds were really comfortable and clean. Thick windows blocked out steer noise really well so quiet even though in busy area. Staff were really friendly and there was snacks in the room for free which was a nice touch given we were really jet lagged and up at 3:30AM:/ reasonably priced given the location would stay here again!

Convenient location - close to train station but not noticeably so; friendly, helpful staff; comfortable and clean. It suited our needs perfectly in travel for 3 adults in one room which is harder to find
8.0
Great location, friendly staff and excellent service but lacks an elevator and this made the moving of luggage up and down the stairs extremely difficult. Also, the checkout time is too early and charges are applied for every additional hour.

This spot is a good value amongst the often expensive hotels in Oxford. The room was clean and updated. It is close to both the bus and train stations and just a short walk from the hustle and bustle of the city center.

I found The Royal Oxford Hotel to be a charming place to stay. The staff were very receptive to our needs.

Outdated, and the rooms were weirdly set up. Great staff and great location!

The rooms and property were very clean. The lady at the front desk was informative and very friendly . We had a problem with the shower and the problem was addressed immediately. The room and bathroom was spacious. The restaurant had a great breakfast.

Friendly service, good location

The room was very clean but very compact. There was no shower gel left in the container. There were no extras at all - not even a shower cap or washer. It was a very spartan stay!!! We had to cart our luggage up to the second floor by ourselves. The staff were friendly but tended to offer assistance after you had already done the job. The reception area was not at the front of the building so that meant they didn’t see you unless you went to them.

It was very good and the only issue that we had was not having the air conditioning working on our first night but staff got it fixed for the following two nights.

This was a lovely hotel, excellent location to everything and steps from the train station. The room was excellent, clean and spacious

Room was clean and comfortable and staff were friendly. Hotel was an easy 8 min walk from the bus station, 5-10 min walk to places to eat & see, and 13 min walk to the car rental company. We would stay there again. The only thing that was odd was that the desk staff asked us not to take our room key off premises when we went out dining or sightseeing -- they wanted the room key left at the desk and picked-up upon our return, which was first time we have ever been asked this by a hotel, and it was not as convenient as being trusted to carry our key safely with us.

The hotel’s interior is new and clean. But it is very noisy. There is fire trucks passing the hotel frequently with sirens on. There are people gathered right outside of the hotel talking loudly. Also a lot of noises from cars passing by the hotel. It is hard to fall asleep with all the noises from outside.

What an exceptional service from the staff. Extremely helpful. It's worth the stay. Highly recommended.

The location was very convenient, a few minutes walk from the train station and close to the centre. The staff were excellent, the receptionist who checked us in couldn't have been more helpful. She gave us a choice of rooms and a map with all the popular places marked. The other reception staff were also very friendly and helpful.

basic hotel - reasonably priced in an expensive city. Bathroom was very nice. Parking was not convenient.

Average stay, rooms are basic but functional. Check in is a little intense - treated as though you have never stayed in a hotel, escorted to your room. Never had an experience like it! Also if you select pay on arrival they take payment immediately upon booking which was 2 weeks before I stayed in my case. Even though my room was flexible and refundable.

I loved my stay at this hotel. It's is close to the train station, has a restaurant and a Sainsburys downstairs. Had a chance to see the city within two hours.

Michal was friendly and made sure we were comfortable.

Absurd that the hotel has no lift! If your particulars had included this basic information, as an 84 year old, I would have gone elsewhere. It makes me realise that I cannot rely on Expedia particulars and as a consequence I may cease to use Expedia. Otherwise (but this is a big exception), the hotel was fine.

Very convenient from the train station and just at the edge of the city center. Oxford castle about a 3m walk. Rooms were clean and spacious (by UK standards) and a supermarket was just around the corner. There's no lift however but wasn't a problem since we didn't have a lot of luggage. Overall, pretty happy and would stay here again if we're ever in Oxford.

We had a one night stay, which was just perfect. Very close to the train station. Walkable distance to all food and beverage areas.
Customer service was very nice and the rooms were comfortable and very clean.
The only thing is —it is by a train station so remember to bring your earplugs and it is a very busy roundabout——you should expect that when staying so close to a transit center.
Had a wonderful time in Oxford being a tourist

Great hotel to stay in for a short weekend away break, whilst seeing a show and shopping.
Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. Would stay again!

What I really appreciated were the staff who talked me through the parking business, which wasn't complicated but is the sort of thing I find muddling! Bless them.
