Hotel Rescue needs to do an overhall of this property. For the room price, it was very disappointing. The kitchenette and bathroom were both filthy. The carpet was gross. But the worst part was the spider webs all over the balcony so we were not comfortable sitting there. The round stairwell windows and the hallway windows were so dirty you could hardly see out. It was creepy. The management really needs to consider a renovation. They could at least assign a worker to clean the windows of common areas. I will never ever stay here again. It was way overpriced and we felt as if we had to leave our luggage in the vehicle because of the filthy conditions. We might as well have slept in the vehicle. One positive note is the bed was comfortable once we reentered the room. We just did not want to be in the room for any other reason than to sleep and shower.

Early check-in given which was awesome. Rooms could use a freshening up but the beds were comfie

The bathroom floor had black hairs everywhere. It was also in the bathroom drawer. It was on the kitchen floor. The bathroom door mirror was dirty. The bathroom cabinets had crusty black smears on it.
Seemed like the floors were never clean and felt unsettling to stay here.
It’s very outdated, but could have lived with that if it had been clean. For the cost to stay here it wasn’t worth it. Better hotels with better views of the lake are across the street.
Will not stay here again.

Fantastic gem on the water. Close to everything in Charlevoix.

The view of Lake Michigan from the belcony was very nice with nice sunsets. The screen door needed to be replaced due to tears and holes, so, we could not leave the double window doors open with just the screen closed to get fresh air or we would have had more bugs in the room. There was already many spiders, which should have been removed during room cleaning. The carpet was discussing. My husband wore his white socks when walking in the room and the bottom of them turned black rather quickly. For the price they charge for the rooms they can afford to thoroughly clean the carpets frequently.

Hotel is closed to downtown , very walkable. All good ! However , we were given a 2nd floor room, we are 80 years old . A downstair room would be appropriate for our age group.

Great location and a nice quiet place to stay walking distance to everything eating, shopping, boating!

Front desk girl was a doll! The room was very nice. I enjoyed my time :-)

The staff were all amazing!
The first room I was given had black mold growing on the ceiling tiles & water dripping out of the them from the air conditioner. I went to the front desk & they gave me another room. This room had been updated, it was better, but could have used more. They had replaced most of the old drop ceiling, but not the bathroom. Moisture=mold growth. For what they charge per night, they should be doing more than the basics. I know spiders are attracted to the area but have the staff sweep away the webs on the balconies & entrances so your guests can enjoy the outdoor spaces without worrying about spiders. Maybe invest in pest control. I use this at home & only need it twice a season. The breakfast was not even worth my time. I have had much better choices at much cheaper establishments. They know their location is amazing so why bother investing in the property, I guess.
On the flip side. Amazing location. You can walk everywhere! The beds were comfortable. Some rooms have been partially updated. The kitchenettes are nice to have for making your own breakfast. EVERY staff member I encountered was kind & courteous, even when others were yelling at them for the conditions. I imagine they have to deal with so many angry customers. It would be great if the owners had to be subjected to angry customers day in & day out. Maybe they would care about their property(ies) a little more.
I am sorry, but I would not recommend this hotel to anyone I cared about.

This place is dirty and run down. Spider webs and dirty windows. Weeds growing out if gutters. The pool was gross. Green algae on the walls and floor. The breakfast was very basic. The coffee was so weak. I have been to Charlavoix for many years. Not sure why they would let the property go like this.

Good location, but need renovation and better cleaning.

Dissappointed. Inside and entire outside of property needs maintaining, clearly not being done. Pool green. Sad to see place is declining because of prime location. Wil not stay again.

Stairs only to get to 2nd floor that are circular and difficult with luggage. Next time I will ask for 1st floor

Service was horrible, requested early check-in well in advance, as we had a wedding to attend that afternoon, was advised they would accommodate, upon arrival we were told room wasn't ready and they didn't know when it would be, that check-in was at 4p. (Wedding was at 3p) Poor customer service, poor communicators, I would be embarrassed having these employees represent my business in this manner. After we advised there was another hotel nearby with a room available, they advised they had an upgraded room ready (suite) however it had 1 bedroom and pull-out couch, we are a family of 4. Due to time constraints we elected to take it.......the room was not clean, food was all over the floor, the shower was SO dirty and not to mention it was unlevel and honestly a bit unsafe. They charged us $340 for this room, I stayed in WAY NICER rooms in downtown Chicago for less then this. WE WILL NEVER EVER STAY HERE again, and please do yourself a favor and choose from several other hotels in the area. Quality is extremely poor, almost as bad as the customer service and definitely the pricing. Shame on me for staying.

We love the Weathervane, wish the pool was heated.

Very nice property which was within easy walking to the town for plenty of shopping, restaurants and activities. Also, right near the canal for nice morning/evening walks.

We stayed in a studio with a full kitchen, two queen beds and a large patio. The room was dated but clean. My recommendation is to replace the cheep flat pillows, fix the bathroom fan so it vents the room and replace the horribly scratched teflon pans.
The breakfast was waffles, cereals, breads, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, coffee and juices.
The hotel is hard to beat because of its location. You can walk to everything and it has lots of parking. The staff is top notch and friendly.

This place is EXTREMELY old and outdated !! Everything is worn out. The countertop in the kitchen/bath area came up to just above my knees they were so low. The bathroom is so tiny and the toilet is so low I could bare get off it. After showering, the bathroom door was so warped I could barely open it. My husband's head almost touched the ceiling in the shower. Electrical outlets were not working. The front door had a big gap where almost anything could crawl in. Parking is minimal. There was a group of guys drinking alcohol just outside of our room being quite rowdy. This was our first time here and will NEVER go back. This place is WAY overpriced for what you get. Find something else. I hope I do not get ill after staying there.

Check in was wonderful. Its akways nuce after a long car ride to be geeeted with a nice friendly person with a great attitude. I brought my fishing pole to try the channel by the hotwl and the maintence guy not only pointed my in the right direction and gave me some suggestions he also let me use his net! A complete stranger. That doesnt happen anymore. Will definetly stay there again, every time i go to charlevoix!

We absolutely loved our stay. We could walk wherever we wished to go, and the room was clean and spacious. We liked the older, retro feel. The staff was friendly. The patio had two sliding doors, and we could sleep with them wide open!

We actually moved to another hotel at 10:30 pm! The tile floors came alive with ants. The carpet had not been vacuumed.

Front desk staff outstanding. What was lacking is housekeeping. Trash emptied and clean towels. That was it. Have stayed there many times before and would again.

Our stay was fine. Early in the season, so there were not many cars in the lot. The location and the town were perfect, everything was walkable.

It was conveniently close to dining, shopping, and walking distance to attractions. The only thing I was displeased with was the cleanliness of our room.

Portrayed as a hotel but was a motel. We had to drag our luggage up a flight of stairs to our room. The closest staircase to our room was a spiral staircase. Not very convenient at all. Next time we will stay across the street for a couple dollars more.

Came into town for a wedding. This is the first time we've been in Charlevoix in the winter. We usually come during the summer. Great town. We've stayed at the Weathervane previously. We asked for a room with two queen beds and not thinking anything of it, we now thing that those rooms are all in the 2nd level. It was a little difficult getting up there in the cold and snow since the most direct way is up a turret that has a winding staircase. I think next time we come, we'll ask for a room on the first floor. The immenities are fine. Very motel-ish. We enjoyed the breakfast in the dining room and I think in the summer would be a beautiful view. You might be able to find a cheaper place to stay but the location can't be beat if you want to hang out in town.

We had a room with a fireplace and lake view. It was wonderful. Ate at Stafford’s and our meals were delicious. Best seafood chowder! Then we relaxed and had a fire in our room. Perfect one-night getaway. We love the Weathervane and will be back.

We were in town for a wedding. I picked this place soley on decent reviews. When we went into the room, it was spacious and the beds were comfortable. However, the bathroom floor had hairs in the corners and a dead spider in the bath tub. The room looked as though it did have some water damage at one time. Overall, for $160 a night I would have expected more.

Check in was quick and easy! Room was comfortable…could have used a little TLC like dusting on lamps and headboards. Asked to have room serviced and all we got was towels. Had to call a second time and then the issued was resolved!

Loved this property! The little kitchenette was awesome!

We liked the design of our suite. Small but cosey. Also liked how quiet it was in our room.

It was a suite with a stove and living room in addition to the bedroom. I didn’t like that it was a motel style with the hallway being outside, but there was an elevator! The room was kind of outdated but clean. We had delicious complimentary breakfast.
