The Front Desk Manager, Mr. Karmo Haavik, was fantastic! He was professional yet relatable, and sincerely interested in who we are as travelers and hotel guests (without being intrusive). We really enjoyed talking to him and he gave us great tips about the nearby places and events to enjoy. He really was wonderful! Thank you so much for such a lovely, memorable stay. Room #1609 has an amazing 180-degree view of Old Town, the newer parts and the Baltic Sea. Incredible! 👍😀🌞

Love the location..have stayed there several times over the years, BUT...it's time to update the rooms, furniture and fixtures included. They have not hardly changed since my first visit in. 1974 !!!

Breakfest was really bad, as in all the Sokos hotels. The bacon/dryed meet is joke. I paid 15€ for it and it wasn’t worth it. In hotels the breakfest is 35% of the whole experience. For me at least. And also would be nice if there is local food or something what the place is knows for. Karelian pie in Tallinn???

The staff at the desk are not at all nice. We stayed at this hotel for 3 days and whenever we asked them to clean the room and also have clean towels they never did that.
My husband made the reservation for the same day twice by mistake and they refused to change the date to rhe correct day or to refund us.
The property does not seem clean. The tooms were not cleaned properly.

Room were semi clean and would need a bit updating. Bed were super soft, read too soft.
Our Windows were Open when we went to the room and we were not able to close it because handle was gone.
Reseption workers were nice and hotel in total were worth of money. Hotel also remembered bithdayperson with nice gift.

I didn’t like no porters service. I was to get the la luggage through the difficult carpet hallways

Only complaint would be techno music all night from somewhere outside. Other than that the facility was very nice and conveniently located by old town main gate.

I wasn’t expecting much… and wow was I blown away by the quality and the views this hotel offered. It makes me want to return to Tallinn simply to just stay at this hotel again. However even though I understand it’s for safety purposes the locking of the front doors at night to exit was very confusing to me. Next time I will talk to the receptionist about it so maybe I won’t have such an issue going out for a smoke at night. Overal 10/10

Great location, clean and comfy rooms. Coffee/tea making facilities would have been nice but otherwise a perfect stay in a good hotel

It’s one of the oldest soviet-era hotels, modernized, and has lot to offer. The views are stunning, and everything is in walking distance.

Great stay with this hotel! Very convenient local. Staff is excellent and friendly. The breakfast buffet is very, very good.

The hotel rooms are in need of some updating. The TVs in the junior suites were very old and the signal was poor. No international news channels (only Russian Euronews).
Service was good and friendly. Breakfast quite good.

Location is great — hotel is just a few minutes walk from the old towns, and connected to a busy mall.
However the hotel itself is far from 4-star. The rooms are old and decrepit. Curtains barely close the windows. Beds are old and worn. The bathroom looked like a remnant of the 80s.

Just a too crowdy, noisy, rowdy stressful hotel. Prepare to queue for 15 minutes in a noisy stressful environment to check in. Prepare to stay in very hot rooms without a real possibility to adjust heat. Prepare to hear when your next room neighbor goes to the toilet and shower, in ”premium” rooms. And I must say that the clientele in this hotel is just something else. You never see these kind of people anywhere else (besides in the ships from Helsinki to Tallinn).

Perfect location right across from Old Town. Modern hotel with up-to-date rooms. Many dining options on-site. Old Town is literally a 3-minute walk away. All staff speaks English and are very friendly.

Parking description online is misleading. There is no free parking at this hotel, pretty frustrating since that was a reason I chose this place.

Great hotel & staff! Great location
However I wish they cleaned my room & changed the towels?

Appalling hotel. It’s a Soviet era hotel that hasn’t been upgraded much since. Surly and unhelpful front desk staff. I arrived at 11pm to be told that all of the facilities were closed - the bars, the nightclub, room service everything (apparently they’re ‘hoping some might reopen in a month or 2’). The minibar fridges are set so warm that they are totally ineffective and there’s no mixers (like tonic) anyway. The bathrooms remind me of
crappy Bournemouth hotels in the ‘70’s. Baths that don’t fit the space, cheap adjustable shower rail with nasty plastic shower curtain.
Generally, it’s just a really bad hotel - especially when there are so many far better, newer ones all around.
The only thing I can say in its favour was that the view from my 17th floor window was good.
Tallinn is tiny and you can walk everywhere in a few minutes - don’t be taken in by it’s location as I was. There are several much, much better options within a block or 2.
Also, def avoid the weekends when it fills up with drunk Finnish kids!

A Soviet-era hotel for westerners and KGB members, the Viru has seen better days. My very small room was clearly for a minor KGB official and very minimalist--not even a picture on the walls--and starting to look grubby. Very friendly desk staff and excellent breakfast (which is a bit of a scramble given the number of guests).

Great location and beautiful view to the Old Town.

The hotel is 5 mintues walk from old town and also from opera house. It is attached to a shopping mall and high end supermarket in basement. The room was not big but cozy and had a nice city view. Breakfast was 13 euro and was very good. The only problem for me was that there were no coffee maker or electric tea kattle in the room. I missed hot drinks at night.

Perfect location. Some small things dated, but nothing to complain about.
