Nice place to stay. Very friendly staff. It's an older hotel, so it's not perfect, but still very pleasant. The morning breakfast is very convenient. We'd stay again.

The rust from from the cast iron sink was rusted completely though the porcelain portion of the sink. The has from the sink over flow drain down half way to the main drain. I asked the front desk staff if he know about the issue before he rented the room to me. He would not answer my question. He made up excuses yet a sink would be in that condition. I receptively asked him if he knew about the poor condition of the sink before her rented me the room. He dance around the question and did, would not answer the question. He speaks broken English and a person could not hardly understand him. A person in that position should speak clearly. We used towel paper in the rest room and when you pulled off some toilet paper after the paper holder fell to the floor. One end of the roll holder was loose on the wall and the spring loaded tube shoot across the floor. I tried to move a chair to the table to read a map and the right wooden arm fell off on the floor. I have stay at Don Q In several times before. I asked for the front desk help for a discount on the room because of the poor condition of the room. I brought a guest from 160 miles away to stay at the Don Qnn. Your front desk area smell like some type strong cleaner. The front desk staff argued with me about not giving me a discount on such a run down room. I is my plan to warn every one I know not to ever use you place to stay. Hopefully I can save one of my friends the bad experience of staying at the Don Q Inn. What a dump.

Fairly nice hotel with all the usual amenities but it is very dated. It needs some updates but it has to be done in a way to not lose its charm. For the price it was great, nice comfy beds but the step up was a problem.

Ok ladybug everywhere

Our room smelled bad, like cigarette smoke that was sprayed with air freshener, and the shower looked moldy and falling apart. Hotel looked run down and appears to be currently for sale yet the staff only said we don't know we just work here.

My first thought was they needed to update things, but everything was well kept and everything fit the nostalgia of the hotel. Once i realized that it provided me an appreciation of the hotel. The vintage old barber chairs around the fire pit was great.

This place is "unique" and I mean that literally. I defy anyone to find a hotel/motel with a lobby full of a couple dozen barber/beautyshop chairs circled around a fireplace. Add in an old-fashioned dentist chair . . . with a Vintage old transport airplane in the front yard. I expected to see Howard Hughes in the cockpit. Ther are a bunch of "theme" rooms--but we didn't stay in one of them. Not my style, but I'd like to see what they were like. The place sounds pretty weird, but its basics are sound and the management if courteous, available and attentive. There's a nice-looking chain motel across the street. But for similar price, why choose plain and ordinary when you can get a little strange but interesting.

Seriously bad hotel. Stayed here before Covid and it was old and marginal then. No improvement or investment and minimal cleaning since then makes it a hard pass. Dark hallways and rooms, and has a persistent smell of some sort that I had on me the next day. The kitschy decor is pretty much just scary instead. Checked out after just one night having to eat the second night cost, bagging my bedclothes and scratching (bedbugs likely). Stay away, and if you must stay here then follow extreme bedbug precautions.

This hotel has seen better days. We got one of the theme rooms. The hot tub had a weird smell to it. The whole hotel did. 10 years ago, this was a cool kitschy hotel. Now it's kinda run down.

In need of an upgrade. Everywhere. It’s about what you’d expect when you drive by.

This is a historic property that has aged in a quirky but fun way for those that are headed to House on the Rock . Free breakfast was very nice , rooms were spacious and clean although aged . Very quiet . Will be back again

The room was musty / smelly. Opened the windows to let fresh air in hoping it would clear out and went to dinner. On our way to dinner both our eyes started to burn. Upon returning to the room the smell was worse even with the windows open. We had to get out immediately because of allelic reactions. Left the keys in the basked and had to leave right away as it was causing breathing problems. No one was at the front desk and we couldn't stay in the hotel any longer. Contacted the hotel the next day and they refused to do a refund even though it was obvious we didn't stay in the room or use the room.

Close to the House on the Rock and Cave of the Mound.

Update the photos to TRULY reflect the pool area the rooms and how aged and run down they are..poor on their part to have such false advertising. The front desk gentleman was nice but I could barely talk to him because the air freshener was so strong my eyes were burning. What odor were they trying to hide. The walls were filthy, the sheets had blood stains which they corrected. No exhaust in bathroom. Rusty fixtures , poor lighting. Broken pool chairs not enough seating at pool . Overall a big disappointment

Unique stay, outdated in some ways but was in good condition. Staff was very nice. Could use some maintenance on the billiards table area, had fun but could have been better.

We are returning customers, going back for at least a decade. Whenever we are not camping at Governors Dodge State Park, this is where we stay. Last year there were some very serious issues with our room. Broken this, broken that and yes, the building is old, probably needing a serious rehab but as we all know, that's expensive. This year's stay was an improvement overall. The breakfast received a bit of an upgrade. I saw new faces at the font desk and they were all exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Perhaps new management/ ownership. We will probably stay here again.

Fun, quirky place that is showing its age with things like chipped paint & worn-put tub, but the (basic) room was clean, the lobby has a lot of character, and the check-in staff was friendly.

What a charming place - the rooms are kind of retro. The decor in the common areas are interesting and fun to explore. Everything was perfect for our stay and the staff is super friendly and helpful. It's only a 15 minute easy drive to Spring Green, so perfect for our weekend activities.

Only about 2 miles to Dodgeville where several stores and restaurants are located. We highly recommend the BBQ restaurant in town! Hotel provided free breakfast, a swimming pool, and a unique place to stay. Some rooms are themed, but we opted to stay in non-themed rooms. Our two rooms were side by side and we were able to close the “stable” door from the main hallway. Neat airplane outside to tour for free. Enjoyed playing checkers in the lobby! Very close to Governor Dodge State Park.

The feature of the room is a hot tub but when you turn on the jets to the hot tub a very rank mildew smell goes through the entire room and lingers for an hour or so.

Room was dark. Lighting needs to improve. The sink and shower had rust. The beds squeaked every time sitting on the bed and when getting off the bed. Breakfast and pool were good

I had taken my granddaughters to house on the rock. I was looking for a hotel that wouldn't break the bank and that had a pool. Don Q definitely was a great place to stay. Wonderfully clean rooms and an awesome Continental breakfast. The girls had a blast in the pool. We were all sad at not being able to tour the plane though.

We went to Don Q Inn as part of a quirky adventure, we were surprised how much we enjoyed our stay there. We stayed in a regular double; the rooms are dated but they are huge, clean, and the beds were comfortable. They do also offer Fantasy Suites which would be a fun option for couples. The hot tub was very relaxing, and the pool is very nice offering indoor and outdoor swimming. The lobby is very unique with antique barber chairs surrounding a huge fireplace. There is a huge checker table, cribbage board and TV in the lobby and foosball, bumper pool and a pool table on the second floor for added fun. Breakfast was good each morning offering waffles, sausage, biscuits and gravy, bagels or toast, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal or cereal. All of the staff at Don Q were very friendly, always smiling and taking the time to talk to us making us feel very welcomed. Our only disappointments were 1) there are no restaurants nearby nor pizza delivery and 2) the underground tunnel was closed. We spoke with staff about this and were told that they are currently working on the tunnel and hope to have it re-opened next year. They are also working with the city to obtain a liquor license so that they can have a bar in the tunnel. I think re-opening the tunnel and having a bar, with pizza options at least, would really add to the appeal for Don Q Inn. Thank you staff at Don Q for the nice visit, we will be back.

The stay was very kitschy. You can tell it’s been around for awhile, but it’s quaint and comfortable. They have quite the spread for the continental breakfast. Just down the road from The House on the Rock
