We were quite dissappointed in our stay at LUX. Based on their marketing, we were expecting top-notch service and lots of activities. The reality was not that glamorous. For example, during our 5-day stay, there was only 1 outdoor movie and no indoor movies for adults. We received our room 3 hours late because of maintenance issues (AC and phone not working). It smelled very strongly of paint (they were painting the room next door) but when asked, we could not switch the room because of that. There were also a lot of problems during checkout and the communication between different LUX employees was really bad (someone promised a late checkout, the other called that we need to leave the room early, we were charged too much, etc.). On a positive note, the food at the hotel restaurants was good and there was always room in the multiple pools and beaches. However, be aware that even with dinner included, drinks will be charged. A carafe of water costs 5€, which is quite a lot considering you can't really avoid drinking it. A small coke is 6€, which also seems too steep. There are no stores close by. We would not recommend this hotel as you can find a lot better options at Mauritius even with lower budget.

Amazing hotel, probably the best service ever. They are in all little details that really make the difference. I would definitely recommend and hope to get back someday.
Great vibe, nice restaurants and bars and very helpful people.

The staff was superb. Every need was met without question and with joyful attitude. Property was beautiful and lots of activities available. The buffet had many options with excellent chefs.

We chose to stay at the Lux Grand Gaube believing it would be the perfect place to elope. However, poor communication from the dedicated wedding planner over a period of almost 6 months caused us to cancel our plans to be married there. In the end this was the better decision as our experience at the hotel was disappointing overall.
No confirmation was received from the hotel of a prearranged airport transfer until prompted. The check in was slow, disorganized and unwelcoming. Our assigned suite was near a section of the hotel under construction and was otherwise populated with many families. We were told no other rooms were available, but we would be advised if another room or an upgrade became available. We received no further communication from anyone about a room change over the course of our 8 nights there. However, we did receive encouragement to upgrade to one of the meal plans. We ate at 4 of the hotel restaurants and found the food generally to be over priced and average at best.
Our reasons for cancelling our wedding at the hotel were communicated to the resort management at the time & well in advance our our arrival. Apologies for the inconvenience were expressed, but no effort was made to improve our stay once we arrived. Apologies were also expressed when details of our disappointing experience while at the resort were communicated at the end of our stay. A $150 USD discount was offered and declined as it was of little consequence against our whole experience.

The resort is outstanding with great facilities as tennis, padle, fitness and watersport. The restaurants and service would class. Could not have had better place for our silver wedding.

The staff were very polite and always ready to help. The receptionist Leticia was always smiling, the staff at cafe Lux, Neelam and Sylvano have excellent customer care, the barman Mr R Jhuree always approachable and friendly, with a great smile and has excellent communication skills. The main restaurant staff were excellent and the food choices for breakfast and dinner were excellent, the whole family enjoyed it as the spread had a great selection🇲🇺. The facilities within the hotel is excellent. We had an excellent family break.

Beautiful property and all staff encounted were very friendly.
Food was also good. Couldn't ubserstabd the concept of providing free water all day and charging a ridiculous price at dinner. Sadly does not go that extra mile as we encounted at many other properties. Overall it was a good stay, the staff made it worthwhile.

a lovely and very pretty hotel gorgeous views and beach area. Food could have had more variety. Very far away from excursions.

A superbly designed hotel with a beautiful reception area, a choice of restaurants, pools and a private beach area as well as multiple add on experiences to ensure you never have to leave the resort. Rooms are spacious and well equiped with either a balcony or patio area its easy to move across the resort.
The resort operates through an App which allows you to understand the restaurant, bar and entertainment options available and make bookings. Not everything is included in the All Inclusive package and prices in the resort are very high.
Unfortunately the service levels across most of the resort really let the hotel down. Quite often both at the pool and in the restaurants trying to find a staff member to order from was impossible. Service was painfully slow across most of the restaurants - we waited over an hour to be served 2 cheeseburgers at BB's one lunchtime which arrived cold. On a different occassion we ordered food at the pool, only after chasing twice discovered no one had actually given the order to the kitchen - with no apology. Inti is the premium restaurant on the resort and therefore not included in the packages. The menu was extensive and well executed however the service was awful which is unacceptable when charging extra.
Top Tips - the Coffee Bar (which is mostly included) and the Rum Tasting Experience (an extra cost) are both amazing.

This hotel was amazing. I have never been at a better hotel. The staff was the best! The way they treated their guests was very impressive. Think a lot of hotels/services could learn a lot from them!
It was my husband, I and our 16 months who stayed for 2 weeks. The beach is nice. Not the finest, but good enough for us! They have a lot of activities and a lot is for free. The food is on a whole different level. From Turkish (my fav) to Peruvian fine dining (must try!!) to the juiciest burgers you have tasted to a buffet like no other. We both gained a little weight from our holiday 🙈. All in all, this has been our best vacation ever.. Thank you to Elena, and all of the amazing staff at Lux Grand Gaube ❤️

I love the kindness of workers. They are so adorable. They like angels and they make you feel like in a paradise.
What i don't like is when you ask for your room to be clean They take time to come. Maybe because they have lot of rooms to clean. Except that this hôtel is perfection. I feel sad to go back home. For sûre i will recomand and also come back.

facility was nice, most of the staff were nice, but the all inclusive was weird. most times when on an all inclusive vacation you don't have to wait for a check after each meal because its included. but this facility, only about half the menu is included (drink wise), slightly more food wise, and it feels like they are trying to constantly trick you into accidentally ordering something not on the all inclusive so that you will have to pay additional. and the room was already not cheap. will not return.

Everything about the Lux Grand Gaube was first class. The accommodation was very comfortable and clean, the location is amazing, the staff were friendly and very efficient and the restaurants were exceptional. If you are looking for luxury, being well cared for and rest/relaxation this is definitely the place for you.

I have been to 45 countries (many 5* hotels) best hotel i have ever stayed in - so many activities to do in hotel & many of them are free & inclusive !!
Free boat/kayak/pedlo’s into the indian ocean, they have coffee making class (approx£10) with Sylvano who was excellent !
We went on a seaplane which was one of the best things ever (2 seater plane), the food was excellent, 4/5 different restaurants on site to pick from daily plus this big buffet in the central lobby area which is available daily, food was amazing !!!!
The sports facilities are excellent, we played tennis, had a paddel session with the coaches and made some friends, they have an activity calendar with different things on at various times throughout the day. The beach is excellent, and there are multiple beaches at the hotel. Upon checkout, our flight was at 10pm and there is a room where we can have showers again and get ready etc all included at no extra cost.
Abhay - another one of the team & Vini from the housekeeping team were great, they helped organise birthday balloons & a cake for me.
There is a cinema which has movies on at various times throughout the day plus premier league football on the weekends.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone, i will either visit this one again or endeavour to visit their other branches in Zanzibar & China next given this one was so good !

Had the best time on holiday. Special shout out to Slyvano (for all the coffee), Sun (for organizing all my spa treatments) Vivi (for keeping my room clean), Homesh & Christopher (for organizing my excursions and taxis) and Lieke (for her warm welcome)!

Probably the best resort we've ever stayed at. The staff are exceptional, the food is excellent and the rooms are beautifully appointed. Comfortable beds and lovely bathrooms with a great shower. 5 restaurants all great. One oddity is that the Buffet restaurant is the most expensive of all of them for dinner which is crazy.
It's not a cheap resortfor Mauritius but it's quality speaks for itself. Be aware there's nothing much close by but the resort has more than enough to keep you entertained.

We stayed here for our honeymoon and were really pleased with the customer service. Waiting staff are very hardworking, polite and humble. We tipped staff in cash where we could as we were not sure how the tipping system works.
There is lots to do - a lot of the water sports are free and beach area staff are very attentive. The banyan area with the adult pool is also well maintained - notable mentions to Saif and Vikesh who were always at hand to help.
Food is good with lots of options - particularly BBs burgers/Bodrum Blue/Creole Smokehouse and the ice cream bar.
We went half board as we do not drink alcohol and thought this worked out well.
Spa facilities are decent with slots that you need to book which is good so that it does not get crowded. My wife also had a massage here from Nishma who was a friendly therapist.
We were also kindly given a few things complimentary as Abeday at reception noted that it was our honeymoon.
Hotel in general well maintained and clean, nice big rooms with good aircon, some wear and tear in bathrooms but nothing overly concerning.
We would come back in future.

This is a nice hotel. The food is very good. The restaurants were nice but the buffet was our favorite. The water sports options were great. Many came with our half board package and we enjoyed them. Overall we were very happy with our stay and plan on returning to Mauritius to explore more of the island.

Absolutely recommend this resort was an absolute experience and the staff was always helpful. Dining was delicious tasting different parts of the world.

Nice half board options with 5 restaurants, food is good standards without being mind-blowing. The sea was not very clear unfortunately and not as Mauritius Standards expected. Hotel is nice and overall 5* but not luxury. Has been refurbished so looks good. Good service. I particularly enjoyed the complimentary water ski and various water activities. Overall good holidays and good price/quality match.

Very well built hotel, good aesthetics from the rooms to the hotels
Good variety of restaurants to dine from
Staff was friendly and made sure we were taken care of
Shout out to
Rishi and Durgesh at the various restaurants
Tisha and Yashesh at the Lux Cafe made us good cuppas
Housekeeping was there twice a day, made sure you always came to a clean room.
The spa is really good as well, masseuses who know what they’re doing.
Only negative I would say that it’s far away, if you want to go to visit Port Louis it’ll take atleast 45 mins to an hour.

This is a 4 star hotel with 5 star elements.
We had three of the same wellness room and every room had different things in, e.g one missing a vanity chair, they are showing signs of wear and tear, one room the shower drain smell was gag worthy some days but did disappear after been run for a while.
For us, 5 star means wanting for nothing and that is certainly not the case in this hotel. Housekeeping is very inconsistent, having to ask for extra towels every day, whilst smelt clean every towel was stained, rubbish and empty glasses/bottles not being removed for multiple days. I did raise this with management and the rooms were immaculate but shouldn’t have had to do it in the first place.
Some staff are amazing, Reedoo and the beach team were great.
However, some staff loved saying no and that things would be done on their time - not 5 star.
I emailed a couple of months ago regarding booking a table at the pop up but never received confirmation. This was never confirmed at check in either. But mentioned in passing that it was booked. Try and book tables in advance as some are not available on the day.
The ‘guest lounge’ for use after check out, dont bother!! Almost like it’s there to make you leave faster. Use the spa showers if you can.
The food was good! Very meat heavy which was good for us but maybe not for others.
The all inclusive rules are very complex!
The hotel is very nice, just not enough done for 5 star level!

It was a beautiful hotel. Disappointing that the service was so poor, especially for what you paying for in an expensive hotel. Not living up to their star rating! With the odd exceptions. What I really loved was the beautiful views.

We really enjoyed our stay, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. We travelled with our baby daughter and were provided with a cot, changing table, steriliser and baby bath. The staff in the restaurant were attentive; they always had her high chair and purées ready at breakfast and dinner. The decor and pools are lovely, it never felt overcrowded, I’d love to go back

This is a tough one. I really wanted to like it and had booked this as the highlight of my trip in Mauritius. Expectations fell short. Hotel is a bit dated. Rooms are not cleaned properly (the floor beneeth my bed was covered in dust). Internet did not work for the entire stay. Imagine staying at a so-called 5* hotel without internet. Many people were understandably furious as they were here working remotely. The hotel made no attempt to apologize or offer any solution let alone something to make up for this major issue. You can tell that there is a high lack of coordination between staff. Everyone is confused as to which restaurants are open and when, check in and check out. They do try to offer a lot of amenities and restaurants but frankly I had no interest in trying “Italian” “Turkish” or “Peruvian” food in Mauritius. I was here to eat something local or from the region - not something I could eat in Peru, Turkey or Italy. Overall I found this to be overpriced for what it was and not really worthy of being on a 5* category. Wouldnt stay here again.
2.5 / 5.0
Very good hotel although feel I am Hard to pushed to say it’s 5 star.
Food is great, hotel is great and clean, activities and extra anmenities/features in the hotel is great.
Bad points are:
- beach is man made so while beach is lovely, the water is pure seaweed 2 metres in.
- Restaurants charge for tap water which the hotel refills themselves.
- shower in the ‘wellness suite’ smelt unbearable of mould (not the first review to say this).
- Some restaurants had one vegan option. For an ‘ECO hotel’ this is a bit of a cop out. Other restaurants & buffet more options.
- Biggest complaint is the app and WiFi. For both I was told to come back tomorrow and it will be sorted. It never was. I couldn’t get on the app for my whole stay so had to book/cancel everything via the desk. The WIFI did not work for almost half my stay and the staff didn’t seem to care. Having to walk to the lobby at 6am in the rain to find my excursion was cancelled because room WiFi was down was poor. The App was an Absoloute shambles for a 5 star chain.
As for the hotel on the whole, it was very good and the food was brilliant. My advice is to stay at a nice hotel as good food is scarce in Mauritius and Lux GG is not walkable to anywhere. If you stay at a lux, don’t go all inclusive. Prices are on their app but you will do well to come close to it each day.
Great hotel but feel a five star hotel wouldn’t have some of the basic issues I have listed. Unsure if the price is warranted.

We had a very nice stay at Lux Grand Gaube.
Due to sone minor points we where not overwhelmed, but still very satisfied.
The positive points are all like you expect from such a property.
Our main critics are that some of the Restaurant staff where quite inattentive and/or not too friendly.
But there were also some very positive exceptions (e.g Renu and Abhishek and also some others, thanks a lot, you were awesome!).
Also the quality of the room service was not always totally convincing, sometimes it was forgotten to replenish empty stuff.
Last but not least the boathouse crew seemed quite unmotivated when it came to appointing an excursion, but as far as I understand that‘s a different company than the hotel.
