Charming hotel in great location. Friendly staff.
1.0 / 10.0
Booked a 2 night stay at this hotel. Before arriving, they communicate to utilize a parking garage as there’s driving restrictions in Florence and can’t access the hotel with a vehicle.
When we booked the parking garage, they informed us they opened at 7:00 am and needed 1 hour to get the vehicle. This wouldn’t allow us enough time to drive to the airport to make our flight. When we reached out to the hotel (well within the cancellation period) they told us the owner wasn’t in until the morning. The issue was being pushed, hotels.com was also advocating for us due to the situation and the length of cancellation given but the owner refused to refund the second night.
It was bad enough we were robbed of our money, but the icing on the cake was the construction- removing of ceramic tiles which was extremely noisy, our room was beside the front desk which you heard everything, and the bed was by far the worst I’ve seen in a hotel. Extremely hard, and rooms outdated as the wallpaper was peeling.
The location is good, but there’s plenty more hotels in the area. We’re frequent travellers and this is by far the worst hotel we’ve ever stayed in. Hoping to save someone a terrible experience like we had. Avoid at all cost!

The hotel was spectacular, several hundred years old restored to its glory. Our room had an uninstructed view of the river and surrounding areas. Monty at the reception made the visit even more enjoyable, the entire staff was amazing. Great breakfast terrific experience.

This property was very charming. The room was clean and comfortable. The balcony was great. The location was perfect. I recommend this place.

If you require the use of connection to internet I found that is was at best slow and often lost communications. The stairs to the 2nd floor reception area was many and the elevator was extremely small ( 1 person and bag) was only allowed because of the space. The rooms ac was controlled by the hotel and medium blankets were available. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Except for the stairs and rolling luggage up those stairs I would come back again.

This property was about a 3 minute walk to the Ponte Vecchio. The staff (every one of them) and the owner were so nice and accommodating. I’d stay here again!

I would not stay here again. I booked a room with a Private Bathroom. And I got a private bathroom but my bathroom was not in my room. I was not eve connected to my room. It was on the other side of the hotel. So if you need the bathroom in the middle if the night, this is quite a problem. The mgmt insisted that “this is the room that you booked”. But I can assure you that when I booked a private bathroom in the past, I have never had to ask if the private bathroom was actually IN my room. This was ridiculous to me. The gents were very nice, but I would not stay here again and I would advise you not to also.

Fantastic staff with wonderful attitude & supreme customer focused service.
Rooms are clean & well maintained.
Elevator is tiny if you’re of larger stature but functions well to save you several stairs.
Location is close to everything worth seeing.
Walking distance to most sites & taxis are readily available for longer distances.

Great people at the desk. With an advance notice, they provided delicious pure veg breakfast.

The hotel itself was clean and the room we stayed in was spacious. The shower was a little small and didn’t drain very well which was a bit annoying but not the worst thing. It was strange that when we would leave the hotel we needed to give the key to the reception desk and when we returned we had to wait for them to give us back the key. We felt we couldn’t really leave our more important things in the room. The elevator in the building was very old and doesn’t go down to the ground floor, only the second floor, so we had to carry our luggage one flight.

Amazing location right by a very happening square, walkable to all the sites. Super clean room and very quiet despite being right next to the square. Super friendly staff. Beds were great and breakfast was lovely.

The hotel staff was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The rooms were large and impeccably clean. The location is perfect. Everything is walkable from the hotel including the train station. If you are a runner and looking for great trails, run along the river away from the downtown, and in less than 2km will run through a park with dirt trails along the river.

The property is very clean, has a friendly staff, and is walkable to many destinations. You cannot access the property by car because many streets are closed off near the property. We had to park at a parking garage which charged 45 euro per night and then we had to walk about 5 minutes with our luggage to get to the hotel. Furthermore, the elevator was not accessible from the ground floor. We carried our bags up several flights of stairs just to reach the elevator, but it is so tiny that we all just kept climbing stairs. I suggest putting bags and 1 person in the elevator. The hotel amenities listed laundry facilities and laundry services; they only have services. In other words I rented the room so that I could wash my own laundry but they do not have facilities on site. Again, the hotel is clean, has friendly staff, and is walkable to many destinations.

The reception staff here are very friendly and hilarious. The hotel is located very closely to all the tourist areas, the bridge, the Academy Museum, the Uffizi gallery, and the cathedrals, etc. I enjoyed my stay. Stop by the Terrazza Rodo for a drink and delicious tiramisu!

Quite uncomfortable if traveling with suitcases, you have to climb two floors to take the elevator which is the smallest elevator on earth, it can barely holds two suitcases. Location is superb but unfortunately is very uncomfortable hotel.

Property is a bit run down . Too many stairs and very old elevator that serve from 2nd floor and not from the ground floor .but can get good strong reception staff to help with luggage . But must tip them . Location of the hotel is excellent which is the hotel saving grace ..

This was a fabulous property-clean and an excellent location.
Andre and his staff were amazing. They were detail oriented in answering questions and gave outstanding recommendations for dinner. The breakfast was delicious-homemade pastries, pies and eggs.

This hotel is in a great location in Florence, not too far from the Santa Maria Novella train station and just a few blocks from the Ponte Vecchio. There are a lot of stairs (in case that is is an issue) to access the hotel which is inside of a locked building. There is a small lift part of the way which helps if you have a suitcase. We liked the location as we could walk everywhere. The hosts at the desk were very friendly. We did not do the breakfast with the additional charge but that is an option for those interested. Our room was very quiet at night so we were able to sleep well.

This hotel and the 4 men who work the front desk are absolutely WONDERFUL. My stay was perfect. The location is fantastic, it is on a very quiet street, there are not a lot of rooms so the hallways are quiet too, and all the shopping and dining you could ask for. The employees helped me with every single thing I needed, including calling a taxi, providing me a bandaid to cover a welt from all the walking I did, a map, etc. I can’t say enough good things about Hotel Alessandra. Thank you guys for a wonderful vacation! Hope to come back here at some point!

My husband and I stayed at the amazing Hotel Alessandra for 10 fantastic nights and cannot wait to return for another visit. The rooms in this unique historic building are beautifully appointed and the hotel is situated close to many key locations. Each member of the Hotel Alessandra staff treated us with warmth and grace. The owner, Andrea, made us feel like family. We love, love, love this hotel!

Great little hotel. Only I think the safe in the Room 21 needs a new battery, as I could not get it to work.

We LOVED staying at this hotel. It's so charming and filled with character - surprises like old typewriters and telephones and a generally interesting and lovely vibe. The staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming.
A few minor drawbacks to be aware of - steps to our bathroom in our room were tough to navigate at night a musty smell (but much compensated for by the beautifully decorated space). Only wish they would have prepped us better for the nightmare of driving there - no one should do that. Park the car outside and take public transpo (Hang on - is that possible?). Overall we really loved staying there and would highly recommend this hotel.

Very nice rooms with all amenities. An older hotel with a small elevator. Cannot fit all luggage. Must do a couple trips to get it up and down. Lots of stairs. No help from staff with luggage. I loved the older hotel experience.
Breakfast worth ordering. Offers any coffee from bar. Eggs, bacon, bread, nice sweets. Order breakfast the night before.

Lovely hotel about 10 min walk from many major sites. Staff was friendly and helpful. Our room overlooked the river with a great view. The room was well maintained and kept clean on a daily basis. The only challenge was the stairs leading to the elevator but the hotel management was very upfront about this fact and the walk up was worth it for this great hotel, in our opinion.

Lovely, picturesque room and building. There were stairs from the street level to the floor with the elevator which made it difficult with heavy bags. The hotel itself was quite nice.

It’s old fashioned in a good way. Employees were wonderful. Suggested restaurants and made dinner reservations for us, booked taxi to airport for us. There is a little terrace on roof that we sat on and drank wine. Room was very clean and had everything we needed. Great location! Walked to museums and restaurants and the river. Would definitely stay here again

I highly recommend this Hotel.
Charming and spacious hotel with an exceptional staff!
Safe, clean, quiet, convenient to key locations....boxes all checked. This well managed hotel is a 1930's throwback with charming decor in lobby and hallway and classic leather punched room keys you leave/ pick-up at the front desk. You immediately appreciate this hotel as soon as you meet Monty, as he welcomes guests at the front desk. In fact, the entire staff were very friendly and helpful. Even with all the charm, this hotel had all the modern amenities one would expect.
If that wasn't enough, Hotel Alessandra has a private terrace (usually empty) that has a view of the river and overlooks a centuries old church bell tower that is lit up at night, we found it to be a perfect place to share a bottle of wine to end the day!

Need to take an elevator two floors very small elevator. Need to carry luggage two flights of stairs before getting to the elevator.
The hotel was amazing, clean, big rooms, staff very helpful in getting directions to where we need to go.

No air conditioner
Must walk up one flight of stairs to reach the elevator
Very small elevator if you have large luggage must make several trips

Location, though difficult to find initially, in a superb location. The crowded and narrow streets made vehicular traffic and parking a major challenge. Do not recommend driving into the City Center area. Would have been better to arrange parking elsewhere and arrange transportation to the hotel.
4.0 / 10.0
NOISY!!! ZERO insulation, you hear EVERYTHING, even front desk night man clearing his throat or closing a drawer, not to mention people talking in rooms above, nextdoor, in corridors. While the staff was very kind, one was way too familiar calling everyone sweetie, honey, darling....
