I was here earlier this year and I was not very happy with the place. However on my recent visit things have greatly improved. Much cleaner than before with very friendly staff. The cuisine at the restaurant is excellent. I would like management to work to prevent mosquitoes into the rooms.

Very friendly and helpful staff and management.

The place was very bad, actually rubbish , especially when you compare to the looks on the website. It’s not a hotel , it’s a guest house. Breakfast was cold and not much to choose from the menu. Moreover, they stole my daughter’s iPods.
Really disappointed with that place . Never again!!!

The jacuzzi was filthy, the bathroom tiles in my room were discolored from dirt and there were flies buzzing around in the dining area which is completely unsanitary. The toast with my breakfast was served cold and the food served for dinner was subpar. All in all I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

I did an upgrade to the deluxe because of the beautiful Jacuzzi and was quoted a price after i paid i was called and told i haveto make another payment because they made a mistake and also found out later that none of the Jacuzzi at the hotel works i was so upset and embarrassed for my fiance and all he want to do was take $12 off the overall price of our stay even though the director knows the Jacuzzi doesn't work for years

Secure, peaceful and clean hotel, which was well located for the work meetings I needed to have in the government sector of Lusaka. Staff were friendly and helpful, but clearly the hotel has seen better days and would benefit from a little renovation and a wider restaurant menu. The hotel airport pick-up was on time and appreciated.

Overall no hotel training of staff whatsoever. Staff totally overwhelmed by a fully occupied hotel. Sorry but not recommendable at all, despite wonderful garden. It has HUGE potential though. Good luck to owner and management. Hope you can improve. Seize your location!

If traveling on business, would not recommend- not conducive to work, and no working wifi in the room. Breakfast was not good.
Upside: there are bed nets for the beds, which most of the higher end hotels in the city don't have, rooms are spacious, and the dinner there was quite delicious.

On arrival, reception could not find my payments and no room was allocated .
I had to take a cold shower on day one – was not briefed on geyser isolator being the customers responsibility.
Reception TV was played excessively loud until late at night.
Hotel did maintenance or hammering or something till after 23:00.

The carpet was wet & stinky. tried three rooms - all horrible. They need lots of work, if they are going to keep up with customer hotel standards.

There was refurbishment going on and it was so noisy. Very poor breakfast. Totally overpriced.

The hotel was under renovation with construction in the lobby. Hotels.com did not mention this; neither did the hotel website. There was no water in the shower or mosquito nets on beds- very weak a/c. Internet was available only within a short distance of front desk. Paid for 3 nights; had to leave after one.

This is not a hotel to choose for this section of Lusaka (government office/NGO section), as there are other more functional hotels of similar price in the general area. I arrived after a late flight from Nairobi only to find that the night clerk was mystified by a hotels.com voucher and confirmation number, so I had to pay at the desk (luckily the card reader read my Visa, not always a given in Zambia) and then settle up the following morning with the manager. The bellhop then took me to a room with a leaking toilet that I only discovered after he left. So, 25 min after arriving, I finally had a room. The hotel allows only 1 hr of free internet per day, and the bed had bedbugs. The bar was extremely noisy until 2am, and renovation crews woke me up at 5am. Finally, the beds stank of cigarette smoke and had a couple of bedbugs visit during the night. I have stayed in nearly 100 hotels of a variety of price ranges, and this was easily the worst experience.

Stayed for a week. Staff are very friendly, always attentive and very well trained. Complimentary, in-room wi-fi was limited to 1 hour a day. Additional hours were available for purchase and free wi-fi is always available in lobby. Hotel needs quite a bit of upkeep to it. Tiles missing, loose fixtures, carpet updating. Value through hotels.com was decent. Thanks to the attention of the staff I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

The hotel was of a high standard with beautiful rooms and a nice dining and pool area. The staff was very helpful and professional. Great bonus: free internet in room for one hour and in reception area unlimited. 5 out of 5 from me, everything was perfect and it was affordable as well.

You can tell that things have faded a bit from the Chrismar's glory days, but still had a relatively pleasant stay and a good sleep. It looks a bit worn out in places, but it works well enough. The Chrismar makes for a workable alternative to the expensive chain hotels for a cost-conscious business traveler. Be sure to enjoy the restaurant at the poolside. Meals there were quite tasty and not as overpriced as some of those on the usual Lusaka ex-pat circuit.
