I wanted to experience what a 2-star hotel in the Kypseli area was like. The cost-quality is about right.

Staff are very friendly

It was quiet and clean.

This was my second stay at this hotel, this time I was given a room on the street side and was a bit noisy especially later in the evening !
The property is clean and convenient to downtown but not in the main part of the city !
The facility is in need of upgrading , for electronics, also there was no refrigerator in the room available.
Additionally the parking provided is a lot one street over and requires you to get a key from the front desk and return it !
Just a few things to be aware of !

They got great people working at this place.

The place is family owned; authentic and genuine. The staff are amazing. Front desk Olga was very helpful in answering my questions and took time to write things down with places names and addresses. I am grateful that these places still around.

It was a nice bed and breakfast hotel in a very nice neighborhood of Athens. Nearby places to eat and shop. Easy pick up point for the Uber Taxi. Breakfast was nice and the staff excellent.

Room in good condition and helpful staff.

This place was great with no frills. It’s a short bus ride to Acropolis, and other sites, great little restaurant just down the street and around the corner, for som authentic Mediterranean food. The place itself is situated in a small part of town, and could use a bit of upkeep but for the price it’s a bargain and Close to things to see.

Property was located in a very creepy area in alley ways and was not safe. We did not even check in we left the area immediately

It wan't near to the centre so you have to walk like 3 min and wait for 224 bus or trolley 15. Can it be a hotel? well...I don't think it's worth that price..The room is a dirty, including the bedsheet...During the last night of our stay, there was a water leakage on a corner of the ceiling! Though they offered a room changing we just let it be as we would leave in the next day. Only one good thing was the old staff of the reception are mostly helpful and nice!

It was a great area with coffee shops etc. Bus nearby to go to city center.

If your first time in Athens I don't recommend this hotel. It's far from the tourist area. Its residential area and not dangerous. The hotel is quite old fashion and you can hear noise from the corridor and from the other rooms i mean the acoustic is not good. The room was not very comfortable.

Hotel was okay due to price, but breakfirst could use a little variation.

Staff friendly enough, WiFi good. Air conditioner very noisy, choice of sleeping with the sound of a tractor in the room or being cold. (Athens abnormally cold New Year 2015).

Decent inexpensive hotel, clean rooms, modern bath w/great shower. Upon arrival tho and showing my H's dc reservation, I was told they were fully booked but if I wanted to wait till 11p, a departing guest's room would become available. Having reserved, I accepted. Next morning Hotelier did not recognize Hotels dc and insisted I pay for the room before leaving. He refused to look at my iPhone receipt as he was suspicious of internet commerce - he wanted paper. He also said my appearance displaced another guest the night before. 90 minutes later and 3 times disconnected from "24 hour" service in the US I paid again for the room. 2 days later I received an email from an accountant at Nicola apologizing for the misunderstanding and offering a refund if I provide cc info. HUGE DISCONNECT between Hotels dc and this establishment. Would stay at Nicola again but not thru Hotels dc.

this is the worst place I have ever stayed. should have taken note of the previous reviews. this hotel was dirty and located in the worse part of Athens. they tried to make us (and other guests ) pay again saying they had not received payment. they became agressive when we refused.

This place can you hardly call a Hotel. The room is equiped with something as an airconditioning buth not working at all. The safe is not working (even no batteries!) The bathroom is something from 100 years ago, I even can not describe what kind of dirth is in that room. The toiletbrush ...... never cleaned and with 1 kg of .... ! I am a frequent traveller and this is the worst thing I ever have seen in my live. I can recommend to everybody to stay away from that place. By the way: all te rooms

The Hotel Nicola is a straightforward, good value European-style hotel. I stayed there with my girlfriend for two nights. The room was entirely satisfactory: comfortable beds, working AC, balcony, TV, hot water in the showers (not always a sure thing in Greece). The hotel isn't particularly close to central Athens -- 15-20 minute walk plus two stops on the subway -- but that's why it's cheap. The staff recommended a local restaurant just a couple of blocks away and it was one of the best places we went in Athens. The park across the main street is also really pleasant, nice for walking and fills up with families and kids playing soccer in the evenings. The included breakfast was ample and tasty.
Minor complaints: The safe in the room didn't work, and the free WiFi didn't reach up to the fourth floor where our room was. The hotel's a little hard to find, and there's a tree growing in front of the sign that makes it harder.

We spent one night in the Nicola to attend a football match in Athens. The hotel had all the basics that we were looking for and we found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. Don't be intimidated by the hotel's narrow backstreet location, it's a 5 Euro taxi ride from the main Syntagma square which connects you by Metro to almost everywhere in the city. If you're looking for an inexpensive hotel with all the basics for a fast-paced city break then the Nicola is a good choice.

We stayed one night at Hotel Nicola. The staff was very helpful and friendly with finding bus stops, the nearest metro, and letting us keep our bags in a storage room during the day after checkout. This hotel is definitely worth the price, so long as you don't mind walking 12 or so blocks to the nearest metro stop.
