Great location with a stunning view from the balcony. Clean and tidy apartments with helpful instructions provided. Close to bars and restaurants, perfect for walks along the seafront.

We recently stayed for 2 nights. The weather was absolutely superb & enhanced what was a beautiful location & villa. The view from the balcony in apartment #1 was stunning. The villas aligning the bay reminded me a lot of Monaco - very stylish, but with space at such a premium, optimum use was essential. We were allocated car parking slot #1, which was off--road, directly outside the main entrance and frankly essential to remove any stress / hassle of trying to find a space on arrival @ ~11pm. I had a couple of email exchanges with the proprietor Steve before making the journey. His instructions were precise, timely & gave me everything we needed. All in all, this was a great short break. The surrounding town typified an English seaside location but the seafront was very nice with lots of memorable views and places to re-hydrate / fuel up for long walks. The only minor negative point of the whole experience was that access to / from the villa gardens to sea level / beach front was blocked as there was on-going renovation, but this had nothing to do with the owners of the villa I hasten to add!

Too much climbing for senior citizens
Flat was clean however to have to climb out of the window to enjoy the view was not mentioned..no good for older people five flights at 75 years of age is not good needed an iron lung when we got there.

Great View
Great place with a spectacular view! Situated above several bars and restaurants which a certain amount of fitness is required to walk down to. Ok for us but probarbly not suitable for people with mobility problems. Saying that, we never had a problem acquiring a cab to get down the hill or back up after several libations (between £3.90 - £5.00). Loved Torquay. Recommend Ferry trip to Brixham.

Lovely view and tidy apartment. Decor is required to some doors and walls though. No mention it was on the top floor and after climbing 157 steps from the restaurants below a further four flights of stairs is a killer! But good for keeping fit.To get on the balcony you have to climb through a window!! Great location though near good restaurants and the centre of Torquay. Just needs a lift!!!

We really enjoyed our stay at Astor House. It had all the creature comforts of home and the location was fantastic. It was an easy walk into town or strolling along the promenade and there were a number of eateries nearby so if you didnt feel like cooking at home there was plenty of choice. Would definitely stay there again.

Holiday in June
We enjoyed our stay in Astor House very much. The apartment was big enough, very tidy, stylish and well equipped. It was quiet in the house. The sea view was breath taking day and night. We can recommend Astor House to families, couples and everybody.

Flat 1
I have marked the Location on the whole property as good because of the lovely views over the bay. The rest of my review refers to the flat. Having received an E mail notification of how to gain entry to Astor House which appeared to relate to Flat 16 I duly read the individual description on the web site and was looking forward to a couple of nights of luxury. How disappointed was I to discover that we were actually in Flat 1 in the attic with the only access to the triangle of balcony was to climb through the window. It's a good job my husband and are quite spritely 61 year olds!
The extensive advertising of the property refers to luxurious but I'm sorry Flat 1 although adequate is not luxurious The very basic chipboard wardrobe in the bedroom had obviously seen better days as the joints were loose and it leaned to one side. Most of the space inside was taken up by a large duvet stuffed into the bottom of it. The feather stuffed cushions on the sofa bed in the lounge were smelly. I thought at one point maybe the duck was stuffed into them as well! The front of the kitchen unit housing the fridge freezer was broken and probably had been for some time and I would have thought that a bathroom described as luxurious would at least have a toilet role holder fitted to house the half a toilet role that was found on our arrival. A phone call to the housekeeper rectified that problem.
On a positive note (yes there are some) The view was lovely, our stay was very peaceful and being able to get instant hot water and heat at the turn of a dial was good. Amazingly I'm going to tick yes to both of the next questions.
