Just one night. Charming very old building. Great service!

Good location, designer chic, courteous and helpful staff, but below average on room maintenance and cleanliness. Especially bathrooms are poor on plumbing, fittings and overall hygiene. Evidently hasn't been deep cleaned in a while. Absolutely disappointing..

Pleasant and well located in the heart of Pondichéry.

Le Dupleix is a nice boutique hotel in the French Quarter on a quiet street. It is an old bungalow that was supposedly used by the Governor. The hotel has built an excellent team of very friendly and guest service oriented staff who went out of their way to make my stay enjoyable. The kitchen team is extremely talented and all dishes were superbly cooked. The only thing that needs improvement is curbing the mosquito menace. Pondicherry is awash with mosquitoes and I was very concerned with picking up Dengue or some such infection. The team gave me Odomos & used a coil - to no avail. They could learn some protocols used in forest retreats like spraying citronella & lemongrass to keep mosquitoes away without leaving a bad odour in the premises.

After 10 days travelling I needed somewhere relaxing. Pondicherry and Le Dupleix were perfect. It has the feeling of being back in the 1930s.
My room was large, its walls hand painted with trees, a huge four-poster bed, all the furniture antique; a big desk for me to write. The bathroom was a little antique but worked well. The place oozed atmosphere and the staff were charming and helpful.
The laundry was done well, and breakfast was excellent.
There was a pop duo in the evenings at the weekend who performed old favourites well.
The restaurant was average, and I preferred to eat out in a town with wonderful food. Restaurant service was a little slow, but there was no rush.
The hotel is perfectly positioned in White Town, five minutes from the Promenade and five minutes from the hubbub of the town.
There’s an arrangement with the Promenade Hotel to use its small swimming pool.
I would have no hesitation in staying again.

The outside of the property & the Service is very good but the inside of the rooms is dingy & the choice of the colors of the walls are very poor. so much of brown that it gives a very dull environment. Not value for money at all. It is definitely steep

A hotel with a lot of history, located in the centre of White town within easy walking to most of the attractions of Pondicherry.
Front desk staff are both friendly and professional with a can do attitude whenever we had a problem they were always happy to help.
The room was spacious and well maintained with a comfortable bed, tea /coffee, fridge and in room safe , Mini our house keeper was always on hand if we needed anything, (much appreciated Mini)
We ate dinner in the hotel several times and found everything of a high standard.
Breakfast was also Excellent again the service was first rate.
Good luck to the new manager you have a good team.
We had a very good six days and will use again if and when we are back in Pondicherry would definitely recommend.

Beautiful heritage mansion in a convenient location. The room was clean and well-maintained. We did have to climb two flights of stairs to get there - something to note if you are traveling with seniors!
Food was average, the service excellent, especially our hostess Aswetha was very kind and helpful!

Situated a block from a beach and promenade, it was a very convinient location. Room sizes are very big compared to modern hotels. Staff was courteous. Food quality was good. Entrance of the property was a famous spot for social media pictures…

On the whole a very ok experience
Rooms are old style not very clean, fan tas no regulator, towels outdated.
Service is very slow and need regular reminders.

Pleasant hotel with good food. Our room was large but bed was uncomfortable and there was a lot of noise from the street. The room was also very dark with not much lighting. Also no English style plugs. overall disappointing.

The property needs to be refurbished. The hotel is surrounded by two other properties that are undergoing major construction - so it is dusty with no natural light in the room. The laundry came back with the white t-shirts stained in multiple colours.

The building from outside looks good, but the room are not cleaned, the water is cold no hot showers, tv do not work, poor plumbing as toilet does not flush. I was very disappointed, as the staff is friendly, but I will not go back to this property again.

For being one of the more expensive options in town, we expected much more. Our top floor room with frosted glass walls was dark and incredibly swampy. The mattress was uncomfortable and the sheets/pillows were moist from the humidity in the room. The shower was really gross with a dirty/moldy plastic mat, no hand towels, and almost zero water pressure. There were dead/dying bugs all over the room and an overwhelming chemical smell that gave me a headache. Breakfast was supposed to start at 7:30 but no one was around one of the mornings, and we paid extra for breakfast. Had dinner in the restaurant and it was just okay, nothing special and again, not worth the premium price compared to other restaurants in the neighborhood. Would not recommend this place to friends or family, particularly given the steep up-charge and the dismal state of maintenance. Service was well intentioned and everyone was generally friendly, but it's not enough to overcome the management issues.

amazing property and a great locality. beach is just 100-200 mts away. staffs were extremely helpful. worth the money

It was a very charming heritage villa with gorgeous rooms and in a great and safe neighborhood however the restrooms are very dated. Staff are very warm and courteous.

The property was very beautiful colonial style villa so it was both charming and gorgeous. However the restrooms were outdated, but the staff did everything they can to accommodate us. Very nice and quite niche neighborhood which was a plus.

Staying at Le Dupleix, a wonderfully restored heritage boutique hotel adds much to a trip to Pondicherry. Our room was spacious and comfortable and the hotel, while offering all the modern amenities, retains a very special French character and charm. The staff was always welcoming and friendly. It was a pleasure to return to the hotel after sightseeing or swimming at their sister property, Le Promenade. Mr. Prabu, the reception manager at Le Dupleix provided exceptional assistance, even locating a local jeweller who could repair a ring that I had purchased in Jaipur. To go to such lengths is an indication of Mr Prabu's desire to ensure that all aspects of a guest's stay are positive. We highly recommend Le Dupleix.

Charming boutique hotel in Whitetown with impeccable staff who treat each guest as a special VIP and work hard to accommodate special requests (such as special food order for baby).

The location cannot be beat. The hotel has character. Perhaps too much character. The wifi is not very good. The attached restaurant is overpriced, but there are many nearby places that compensate for that. The room was in dire need of an update. The staff tried their best to overcome the limitations of a property that needs to be upgraded.

The property was good aesthetically but was not maintained well. No 5star quality , creaking floor boards , nails on the floor boards which hurt us, not clean....bathtub was dirty.
Renovations were going on which was not mentioned before booking. Smell of the kitchen was overpowering mostly at night. Noise of doors & furniture disturbed us at night.
Overall was cheated with an exhorbitant non refundable amount.

A very relaxing property with good food and helpful staff?
The bed in the room where I stayed is too high and difficult to get into.

I spent two nights at Le Dupleix and I would certainly go back. The hotel is in a quiet street closet to the beach and is a wonderful mixture of contemporary design and antiques. The staff went out of their way to make me feel at home and immediately took care of whatever little thing I asked for. Such a lovely bunch of beautiful young people. They serve continental and Indian breakfast .The only thing that surprised me, and that you should be aware of, is that the room is all glassed in and the windows cannot be opened. The AC worked well and there are bamboo shades and curtains all around for privacy and light control, but I was looking forward to sleeping under a fan in the balmy south Indian nights.
One pleasant surprise was that the same company owns another Hotel a few blocks away on the waterfront with pool and spa, and the Le Dupleix guests are invited to use their facilities as well.

No Elevator...so going up two flights with my aged parents was a pain. However, the staff was kind enough to give us a Ground floor room.

This was the perfect place for my stay in India. It was quiet, near to everything and the staff felt like true friends. I was traveling alone and they looked after not only my needs but me personally. They helped with excursion reservations, directions and offered cultural explanations to my many questions. I felt they truly cared about me and I truly cared about them. I cant say enough about the warmth of their hospitality and the thoroughness of their service. The hotel is small which suited my need for quiet and simplicity. The rooms open to an airy covered courtyard circled by palms and greenery. You can sit on the verandas or in the restaurant and drink your morning tea with papers. The included breakfast is diverse and generous. The restaurant served really good Indian food and is open to the public. The surrounding neighborhood is the old section of Pondicherry built by the French. The streets are tree-lined and safe and fairly empty of traffic. My room was large and decorated simply with period pieces. Everything was clean and well-kept, inside and outside. I will definitely stay here on on my next trip Pondicherry, a city top on my list of travel loves.

A very tranquil and well located spot in Pondi, thier breakfast is great. Near the Aurobindo Ashram.

Pondicherry was a bit of a let down. Except for the names of the streets, there really wasnt much French about the town. I expected cafes and bistros. There were none. Even the promenade was a let down. In the evening, there were thousands of people walking on the promenade but there werent quaint restaurants to sit and people watch. The hotel was nice enough. The air conditioner worked well and was a welcome relief from the heat and humidity. The shower and toilet were a little funky in their open design. The breakfast was simple but sufficient--croissants were stale.

This hotel has character because it's old but it lacks a lot of amenities. The toilet seat was kind of a leather wood combination had tears in it. The faucet in bath didn't work properly and was not secured to the sink. Shower was difficult to enter.I left the room about 430 in the morning to catch a bit of Wi-Fi because it did not work in my room and found a woman employee sleeping right outside my door (to room number two.) She Remained for several hours even though multiple employees noticed that I was having to walk over her to get out of my room. The lighting in the bedroom is not good and there was one comfortable chair and one uncomfortable chair to sit in. I did get the staff to give me an extra chair that was along the wall but it was faded and not particularly clean. The towels were not white but they were clean. I really don't know if there's something better in Pondi but I sure hope I find it next time .

If you enjoy loud building works next door, the most useless staff/ management in India, not great food then by all means stay here. The management ask you five times a day how is everything but the moment you complain nothing can be done. They arranged an airport pick up but were 45 minutes late for me at the exit. Of course I called and they just kept on saying give us five minutes. They offered me a £15 meal for the inconvenience of the building works but seeing the standard of breakfast I simply never took up their offer (on a £577 booking).
